6.0 | Homecoming Dream

"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU TWO BEEN?" Wesley asked Kai and Eli as they exited the mattress store. The two looked at each other, then back to their friend.

"Uhhhhh.." Eli drifted, causing Kai to hold back a smirk.

Wesley looked at the mattress store, then back to the couple, and then examined their appearances. "Holy shit.." He muttered, "You two danced the devil's tango for the first time!"

"Wesley, shush!" Kai whispered, covering her friend's mouth so the newest arrivals wouldn't hear him. "Yes, we had sex, but the entire mall doesn't need to know!"

Her friend chuckled before removing her hand, "So I'm assuming you two are finally a thing now?"

They nodded.

"Fantastic! I've been waiting for this for three damn years." Wesley said, clapping his hands and pulling Kai into a hug. "You two need to go shower. Not together!" He called over his shoulder as he walked away.

Eli and Kai looked at each other an erupted with laughter.

"Wait.. So they're throwing a homecoming dance?" Kai asked Eli, confused as he explained what Wesley and Josh were doing.

The boy nodded, "Yeah, to make up for the one we never had. Do you wanna come with me?"

"Or, we could just hide in the mattress store all night?" She hinted, moving closer to Eli. Standing on her toes, she whispered, "Yaknow, have some fun of our own?"

Eli became visibly flustered, causing Kai to smirk. "Yeah, I'll go with you to the dance. But, in the meantime, you might wanna deal with your little buddy down there." She winked before walking off to find a dress.

"Why're you up here?" Eli asked Kai as he closed the roof door. "Everything's almost ready downstairs."

"You tried blackmailing Wesley because he's fucking Turbo." Kai said in disbelief.

Eli furrowed his brows, "How do you know that?"

"Oh," she began, turning towards him, "I'm not finished. You're also helping Wesley kill Josh. I'm not the biggest fan of his recently, but there is no way in hell that I'm letting you two kill him." Without saying another word, Kai shoulder-checked Eli and went back inside the mall.

Kai walked into the area that the homecoming dance was in, everyone stopping to look at the newest arrival. She looked stunning, in a wine red skin tight dress with a smokey eye, natural lip, black wedges, and her headphones so she could listen to the music Wesley decided to play.

Eli walked up to her, an awestruck look on his face. "You look gorgeous. Aphrodite should be jealous."

"Thanks." Kai smiled, "You look really good." She complimented, kissing the boy's cheek. She moved towards his ear, "If Josh dies tonight, have fun with Mavis." She growled, referencing the mannequin that Eli claimed he was dating before they showed up.

The boy gulped before grabbing Kai's hand and dancing with her. A genuine smile appeared on her lips, and it disappeared the second she noticed.

"Hey," Eli began, "you realize you're allowed to smile, right? It's beautiful when you do."

Kai nodded before placing her lips on Eli's. The two began to make out on the dance floor, and continued until Gender-Neutral Homecoming Royalty was announced.

"Voting is closed, friends." Other Gay Josh said from the stage. "Gender-Neutral Homecoming Royalty will be officially announced in five minutes."

"It's time to announce our Gender-Neutral Homecoming Royalty."

Everyone's attention was drawn to the stage, Eli holding Kai's hand tightly as he waited in excitement.

"Mop Sam Dean." Other Gay Josh said with a smile, causing the crowd to cheer.

Kai's smile faltered, something that Eli had noticed.

"You okay, babydoll?" He asked, worry present in his voice.

Kai nodded, her vision going blurry. "Y-yeah.. I'm f-fine..." The blonde collapsed onto the floor of the mall, sending Eli into a panic.

"Babydoll? Kai? Kaira!" He exclaimed, placing his hand on the girl's cheek. That's when he discovered something. A fresh injury was placed on the side of Kai's neck, and it was beginning to bleed. "Guys! Angelica! Ms. Crumble!" Eli yelled, earning Angelica and Ms. Crumble's attention. The two females sprinted over to help Eli as the other royalty person was announced.

At this point in time, Eli didn't even care that he and Wesley put lethal spider venom on the crown to kill Josh on contact. He just cared about whether or not Kai was okay.

Right after the three people met in the mattress store and closed the gate, the power was shut down. Luckily, Eli still had an extra candle from his and Kai's date. They were in the back of the store, so there was no way whoever had shut the power down would be able to see them.

Besides, everyone got replaced with mannequins to trick the Jocks.

Eli had decided to fight while Ms. Crumble and Angelica helped Kai. He was angry that he let her somehow get injured on her throat because he was too busy trying to help kill Josh, so he had some rage to release.

"The Jocks got our food and water. And the took Jaden, Girl Jaden, Gabriel, Zoey, Severe Bangs Carly, Other Gay Josh, and Jaden." Kai heard the voice of Angelica state. The older blonde had just woken up, pain shadowing her thoughts and body.

When she woke up, she had went to see what exactly happened after she passed out. When her eyes landed on Eli and Wesley locked up, curiosity rushed through her veins. After catching up with Angelica and Josh, she was standing next to them, in front of the gate.

"Don't blame us. We tried murderlizing Josh so this wouldn't happen." Eli stated, raising his arms. When his eyes landed on Kai, his gaze softened and guilt was visible in his eyes.

A girl that Kai didn't know pointed to him, "That's a confession."

"Pssh. I didn't say blit." He responded, looking towards the girl.

Angelica furrowed her brows, "You said you tried to kill Josh."

"Not what I said."

"It is."

"Then you misheard me."

"I recorded it," Angelica stated, pulling out a tape recorder and playing back what Eli had admitted to.

Eli looked to Josh, "That's been fully edited. If you're looking for bad hombres, then look around."

Kai banged on the gate, scaring those near it. She couldn't speak, due to her injury. Ms. Crumble told her to wait at least two days before saying anything.

The bonde, frustrated, walked away. She went to grab her things, making a decision to leave the mall. With a sigh, she grabbed a pencil and her notebook.

"We have a problem." Angelica stated, rushing towards Josh with a piece of paper in her hand. He was still standing outside of the gate, silently judging Wesley and Eli. The boys turned their eyes to the pink and blonde haired girl. "Listen to this."

She cleared her throat, "Dear Angelica, I left. I was better off on my own. When I told you that there's no such thing as a team, I meant it. I needed to leave. You guys don't need me anymore. I mean, Josh and Wes locked up THEE Baron Triumph. And you guys fought off the Jocks without me, which kinda sucked. I wanted to stab Turbo again. Anyways, my point is that you guys don't need me here anymore. To be honest, I'm probably going to die out there, but at least I won't go down without a fight. Do me a favor, will ya? Don't kill Eli or Wes. They don't deserve it. They've had our backs since the day we all met up. Yeah, trying to kill Josh was a dick move, but they were gonna do it to protect everyone. Oh, and Angelica? Wes? I know about what you guys did. I forgive you for it, trust me. Well, I'm running out of space to write. So, I guess this is goodbye. Good luck in the rest of the apocalypse. Xoxo, Kaira Dean." She finished the letter, looking to the group with saddened eyes.

Eli shook his head in disbelief. "There's no way she left us here. How do you know that it's actually her?" He asked, his voice cracking a small bit.

Angelica handed him the paper, his eyes studying over the handwriting and the signature. It was definitely Kai.

"Fuck.." Wesley mumbled. "I can't believe she dropped us that easily."

Eli crumbled the letter and tossed it onto the ground before taking a seat.

Josh's brows furrowed, "Wait, she said she knows what you and Wesley did. What did you guys do?"

"We should make sure Triumph is still locked up.." Angelica began, "I'll go check."
