Chapter 3

I just sat there. I knew the transformation was taking control. I saw my hands were starting to look like Serpent's. I fell down on my stomach. I couldn't move. All I could do was blink and breath. Tears were forming in my eyes. They rolled down my cheeks. I closed my eyes, begging for it to stop.

I suddenly heard the door open. "Rose!" cried Daniel. He opened the cage. He sat me up. "What happened?" he asked.

"Get off necklace," I said. I couldn't even speak right! Daniel pulled out his pocket knife to try and take it off. He was about to hit it, but to my horror, Serpent grabbed him. Daniel kicked him, but Serpent slapped him back. They started to fight. I winced every time Daniel was hit even though I wasn't the one getting hit.

Serpent and Daniel fought and fought. I was getting weaker by the minute. Soon, I was completely paralyzed. My eyes wouldn't open, tears wouldn't fall. I just listened to the fighting. I suddenly heard the sound of my own name. Everything seemed to be fading away. Sounds. Urges to move. The feeling of the cage.

-Dream-
I suddenly was able to move again. I felt water around me. I opened my eyes. I was laying on a rock in the...sea? I looked around. I could breath. I looked down. I was a sea serpent. I scrambled off the rock. I was breathing heavily. My heart pounded. I swam up, hoping to see Daniel.

Soon, a small boat appeared. I peeked my head up. The boat wasn't small, I was huge! Instead of a scream, a roar came out of my mouth. "Sea serpent!" one of the sailers screamed. The motor started running on the boat. I tried to tell them I was actually a human, but it sounded like a series of roars. I fell back into the water. I let myself sink to the bottom. Everything swam out of my way.

I just laid there. Nothing to do. Nothing I could do really. I studied myself. Scaly. Green. Slimy. I let tears fall, but I didn't think they were visible in the ocean. I looked up and saw the sun reflecting on the water's surface. I closed my eyes. "Please let me be human," I tried to say, but instead came out as quiet roars. I started to sob. It may not have looked like it, but I just flat out sobbed. I opened my eyes. A little fish was looking at me. I tried to smile, but scared it. I didn't mean to.

I just looked up at the sun's reflection. I kept wishing to be human. I decided to go up again. So, up I went. When I reached the surface, I saw Serpent on a beach. "Oh Rose!" he called. I charged for him. How dare he do this! As I got closer, I realized men had lined up with spears. I charged and spears flew. Everything suddenly went dark.

-End of Dream-
