Ch. 1
Darkness. That's all I could see. My body felt heavy...
Ok so you might be wondering whats going on, right? Well lets go back to the beginning shall we?
-----
"Ugh, my head." I sighed and laid my head down on the table. "Let me guess your uncles' been locking himself up in his freak room again?" I looked over at Emelia and nodded. "That's all he's been doing for like the past seven months. I mean he even forgot about my birthday and still doesn't know it passed." She spit her drink out and looked at me shocked. "WHAT! BUT THAT WAS THREE MONTHS AGO! That is messed up, I'm sorry."
I looked at her and smiled. "It's ok, I got to spend it with you at least. And that's all that matters to me." "BUT HES YOUR UNCLE! YOUR ONLY LIVING RELATIVE! HOW COULD HE FORGET! UGH! THIS IS MAKING ME SO MAD!" I gently patted her, in hopes of calming her down and thankfully it did. "I'm sorry for yelling April, its just I cant believe he would do that. It's not like him." I nodded in agreement and sighed. "I know and trust me I'm worried. He wont even let me get close to the door with him freaking out. I think hes hiding something but knowing him obsession with horror and stuff, I'd rather not find out what it is he has down there. Besides I have no interest in going down there to begin with." Emelia laughed and punch my shoulder. "Your just a chicken." "I AM NOT! I'm just not a fan of horror that's all."
This only made her laugh more which was relaxing. After chatting for a while we decided to head home.
----
"Uncle John! I'm home!" Like I thought I didn't receive an answer but something felt different. I placed my bag in my room before I started to wonder around. I kept calling out to my uncle but never heard anything. Normally by now I would hear him rush up the stairs to greet me but I couldn't hear anything. I looked out a window that shows the backyard and didn't see his truck. "Strange... He normally tells me if he's going out." I stood there wondering what was going on till I heard a small noise. I turned around quickly and walked towards the noise.
As I walked around, I found myself in front of the door to the basement. "This is uncle Johns room..." I looked around making sure I really was alone. I looked back at the door and with a shaky hand opened the door. The stairwell was dark which was strange, there should be small windows that can let some light come in, and the sun hasn't completely set yet so, why was it so dark? I slowly took a few steps down. And very faintly heard something. "Whats that noise? It sounded like metal scrapping on concrete." I was about to take another step but a pair of arms wrapped themselves around me, and pulled me out of the basement before I could continue further down.
I looked behind me only to see my Uncle. And boy did he look mad! "WHAT WHERE YOU DOING!?" I jolt of fear ran threw me as I stared into my uncles eyes. They normally were a nice lilac color filled with joy and kindness, but now they darker, and that kindness I used to see was missing. "I-I was looking for you a-and thought you where down there. I-I'm sorry." His eyes softened slightly. I sighed mentally seeing the kindness return.
He ruffed my hair and smiled. "I was at the store. I'm sorry for yelling... You didn't see anything down there... Did you?" I smiled at him and shook my head. "No I didn't see anything. It was to dark, but are you... hiding something?" He looked worried and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm.. Um.. working on something for your birthday.. Its in a few weeks and wanted to surprise you. So please don't go down there, it'll ruin the surprise." I just smiled and nodded. "Ok I won't." "Even though I know that is a complete lie." He smiled and ruffed my hair again. "How about we go out tonight." I nodded in agreement and followed my uncle out the door, but not before I looked back at the door one last time.
"What is he hiding?"
------
It was late at night now. My uncle was in his room asleep. My mind was restless, still wondering what he could be hiding. It soon got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore and had to find out. I slowly crept out of my room and to the stairs. I looked down the hall to where Johns room is and didn't hear anything. "That's good he's still asleep." I quickly but quietly rushed down the stairs and to the kitchen to grab a flashlight. I didn't want to turn the lights on, for in case uncle John wakes up. Don't want him getting mad again.
I soon stood in front of the door to the basement. I don't know why but I felt so determined to go down there only moments before, but now... I have a bad feeling , like something really bad is down there. I closed my eyes and opened the door, bad thing was that the door creaked like crazy. I stood still listen for footsteps but didn't hear any, not like I would. During dinner John was drinking a lot, so hes knocked out right now.
I turned the flashlight on and took a deep breath as I slowly made my way down the stairs. but every few steps I stood I would hear a noise coming from one of the corners on the far side of the room. I soon made it to the bottom, my body shivered slightly from how cold it was. I looked around but so far nothing seemed different, or so I thought.
As I was looking around I ended up tripping on something and fell. I lifted myself up and what I saw terrified me. Before me was a person, chained up and bloody. I used every ounce of energy I had to not scream at the sight before me.
I stared terrified at the person before me. From what I could tell it was a guy, his silver hair had bits of dried blood in it, his eyes where covered by a cloth tied around his head, his clothes were ripped and bloody. But my eyes landed on what was behind him, they where chained up wings.
"Hehe... What's the matter John... Your normally... to the point with your experiments.... cat got your tongue?" I jumped back slightly when he spoke, and started shaking again. "Wh-what has uncle John been up to." The guy jolted back when he herd me. He seemed scared but I felt terrible for him. I needed to help him!
I took a few steps forward and knelt down to his level and hesitantly took the cloth off his eyes. He looked at me terrified and pushed his back up against the wall more "WHO ARE YOU!? WHAT DO YO-" I quickly put my hand over his mouth to silence him, and held my fingre to my lips. "Shh, you'll wake up uncle John if your not quiet... will you behave now?" He glared at me with his cold grey eyes but nodded. I removed my hand and looked at him with pity.
"So that thing is your uncle?" I looked down and shook my head. "I don't even know anymore. But what hes doing is WRONG and I want to help you escape." He looked at me like I was crazy and gave me an annoyed look. "Well as you can see from these chains I cant get out and, I doubt your strong enough to brake them so your going to have to get the key." I glared at him but sighed. "Well do you know where the key could be? Or know what we could use instead for if we cant find it?"
He thought for a moment while he tried looking around. He stopped at the tool box that wasn't to far away. "Anything in that box we could use?" I grabbed the flashlight and looked in the box. All I saw where bolts, nuts, screws but nothing useful. "No there's no tools." I looked over at the desk and saw a screwdriver there. I quickly grabbed it and walked back over to him. "I found this, do you think it'll work?" He sighed but nodded. "It's worth a shot cause I don't think you'll be able to get the key. From what I heard when you came down here your too noisy, he'd probably wake up and kill you." I looked at him terrified but soon glared at him. "My uncle would never hurt me! Hes not that kind of person!" He rolled his eyes but said nothing.
I was mad at him but still wanted to help. I put the end of the screwdriver in one of the key holes and tried to brake the cuff. But sadly to our advantage it didn't work. I huffed in frustration and sat down in front of him. My dark green eyes borrowing into his skull. "Ok you have to know where the key is.... Right?" He thought for a moment then looked at me with a look of doubt. "It should be in his shirt pocket, but its night now so I don't know where it could be."
My eyes widened and I smiled brightly. "I know where it is. My uncle always puts a key in his shirt that he hangs for next day. I found the key one day doing laundry, I guess he forgot to take it out. I'll be right back wait here." He rolled his eyes and sighed. "Not like Im going anywhere stupid." I looked back at him threw the dark and glared in his direction, but continued to the stairs.
I soon stood in front of my uncles door, he was still asleep which was good. I quietly tip-toed into his room and looked around. He normally hanged his shirt on the door and just my luck it was there. I sighed and took a few steps towards it and looked in the pocket. I saw a lot of keys, more then the only one I saw last time. I looked down worried but grabbed the keys making sure to not make a sound. As soon as I got them out I rushed back down the hall and down the stairs. Once I got back down to the basement I turned the light on. The guy cringed as the light flooded the room. "S-Sorry! But um.. I think we have a problem."
He looked up at me glaring and threw gritted teeth hissed. "What problem." I held up the keys and laughed nervously. "Looks like he added more keys." The guy growled in annoyance. "Great. JUST GREAT!" I narrowed my eyes and crossed my arms as I got a better look at him. "So... this get up... Are you suppose to be dressed as an angel or something?"
His eyes widened and he laughed nervously. "Haha.. wait are you really that dumb?" I looked at him offended as I tried different keys on the locks. "Well its not like angels actually exist. Their just a bunch of fairy tales, along with monsters and demons." He snickered and looked at me slightly amused. "Well sweetheart sorry to burst your naive bubble, but we do exist and-" "I GOT IT!" I said cheerfully as one of the cuffs unlocked releasing his hand and the chain around his wings. I looked back at him and smiled. "what were you saying? I was busy looking for the key~." I said in a cocky tone.
He looked at his wrist and moved his hand. He looked back at me and smiled slightly, then his eyes showed fear. Before any of us could say anything my arm was grabbed harshly and I was pulled away from him. A scream came from me as I fought against my uncle. I don't know how he woke up but that didn't matter at the moment. All that matter was making out of this alive.
My uncle pinned me to the ground, his hands around my neck. I looked up at him threw clouded eyes only to stare into glowing red eyes. I felt the color drain from my face as I stared up at the monster before me. I was able to kick him off of me and tried to get up, but I was grabbed again. I looked through my blurry vision and threw the keys to the guy.
I let out another scream as a sharp pain ran threw my body. The pain only increased as I was thrown to the floor. I cried out and looked back up at my uncle. He had a sickening grin on and looked down at me with joy. "I told you not to come down here my dear...." His voice started to change to something demotic as he came closer to me. He grabbed me by my hair and lifted me up. My vision started to grow dark and my body soon became numb. "Is this how I will die?... By the hands of my uncle." I thought as my mind also became clouded and dark.
My body once again collapsed t the ground as I heard fighting coming from nearby. But before I could make out anything I feel into... complete... darkness.....
