Chapter 1

"I'm Hunter...a mercenary."
~~~
"You don't look like a mercenary." Jada commented, her tone cold as she looked Hunter up and down, noting how he stood and the way he held himself.
"Looks aren't everything." Hunter said hesitantly, taking a small step towards her. Jada immediately placed a hand on the handle to her crysknife sheathed on her thigh. "Easy. I'm not going to hurt you."
"Last time someone said that, they lied." Jada said, glaring at Hunter.
"Look, I don't know who hurt you but I promise, I'm not going to." Hunter promised, taking another small step.
Jada's gaze flicked to something behind Hunter, her gaze hardening. "The person behind you holding a blaster aimed for my head says otherwise."
Hunter's gaze flicked behind him. "Tech," He warned. "Lower your weapon."
Jada watched as the person behind Hunter, Tech, begrudgingly lowered his blaster and stepped out of the trees. "Who else is hiding in the woods?" Jada asked, the rain dripping off her bangs and into her eyes.
Hunter made a sign with his hand and 3 other people stepped out of the shadows, one of them being the little girl she'd seen earlier. Jada gave each of them a glare, her gaze falling to a stop on the young girl.
Sporting a Zygerrian energy bow, the young girl had a pair of gray pants, a red shirt, and a blue jacket on, topped with a brown sling that would hold her bow and anything small she could tuck in the pockets. Underneath her helmet, she had short cropped hair and some of the brightest honey brown eyes Jada had ever seen before.
Jada, after examining the young girl, turned her attention to the men beside her, her gaze flicking between the four. Though they all wore similar armor, there were distinct differences between the five of them (including Hunter) that would allow you to easily tell them apart. One of them was larger than the others, the second had a mechanical arm and legs, and the third had yellow goggles on his helmet, a data pad in his hip.
"Who are you?" The young girl asked, her bow raised.
"I could be asking you all the same question." Jada responded. She refused to tell these people anything about her until she knew for certain they weren't going to hurt her.
"Hunter, the storm is going to be getting worse, I suggest we go back to the Marauder before we're caught in the worst of it." The one with goggles said, stepping to Hunter's side.
Jada, as she stood in the rain, could feel herself being soaked to the bone. She had long been drenched as the rain had gotten heavier during this... confrontation.
Hunter sighed, a hand pinching the bridge of his nose as he appeared to be having an inner battle with himself. After a moment, he finally spoke. "Look, the rain is only gonna get worse," He was speaking directly to Jada. "How about you come back to our ship and we can talk there, out of the rain."
Jada eyed each of them for a moment, her gaze lingering on each individual as she considered his request. After a moment, she nodded and straightened. "Fine."
