being really nervous about meeting your parents

---

"i don't know, (y/n), what if they don't like me? have they seen me in movies? have they watched my interviews? oh god have they seen high school musical?" you cut him off with a kiss to the lips, cupping his face and smiling gently at his stupidity.

"babe, listen to me. they are going to love you. there's no pressure, my parents are very understanding when it comes to first time meetings. just... don't be too nervous and they'll never be able to tell, you're the actor here, right?"

"that's not fair." he said, smiling and pointing a finer at you; he placed a small kiss on your cheek before taking a deep breath and getting out of the car. he quickly ran to your side to open it, getting out with a large smile. you'd always been daddy's girl, but your dad was super nice when it came to boys, he actually understood the pressure behind seeing the parents because he was once in their shoes.

"ready?" you asked sweetly, taking his hand and beginning to walk towards the door to your childhood home.

"no." he replied, and you felt the grip on your hand grow tighter. you have him a reassuring squeeze back, knocking on the door confidently and loudly, so your parents would know it was actually you rather than the timid knock of a UPS guy. the door swung open to the cheery face of your mother, smiling brightly the instant she saw you.

"darling!" she said, bringing you in for a hug and kissing your cheek. "i've missed you, how've you been?"

"i've been pretty good, and you?"

"great, thanks." his eyes travelled zac, who shifted uncomfortably but your mom's smile never faltered. "and who is this handsome man you have here with you?" she asked brightly, sticking out a hand for him to shake. he gladly took it and shook it firmly, using his training from his interviews.

"i'm zac. lovely to meet you, ma'am i've heard so much about you." zac's voice seemed a bit wavy but you could tell he was starting to get comfortable with your mom; she had that effect on people, she was totally a people person.

"please, call me (y/m/n)!" she said, gesturing you both inside; you both took off your shoes as you gave a wide smile to zac, who already had a blush rising on his cheeks. without warning, your dad walked into the room, the same smile on his face as your mom's.

"(y/n)!" your dad said, wrapping you up in one of his famous bear hugs. "i'm so glad you've come to have dinner with us." he said, placing you down and turning his eyes towards zac.

zac really wanted to make a good impression on your dad, that was mostly the reason why he was so nervous. he knew the whole "daddy's girl" rule and even though you assured him multiple times that your dad would love him he was still unsure. he looked nervous - everyone could tell - and he shifted on his toes, his blue eyes barely making eye contact with anyone in the room, even you.

"hi, nice to meet you, you must be the 'zac' i've heard so much about." your dad said, giving him a bright smile and sticking his hand out; zac hesitated but nonetheless shook your dad's hand. "good man, firm grip." dad said with a nod, looking back at you and smiling approvingly. "so, how long have you and my daughter been dating."

"about 8 months, sir." zac replied, remaining stiff but seeming to relax a bit more as he started to make eye contact.

"sir... wow, really good man." he said, nodding again. "where did you take her on your first date?"

"to the movies, sir. i know she's always had a fascination with them. she could pick out every actor in every movie and talk about all these amazing facts she knows about them."

"oh, i like you. you can call me (y/d/n)." your dad smiled before turning towards everyone. "right, your mother and i tried to be fancy and cook an entire meal but we nearly burned the house down so we ordered pizza." zac let out a tiny laugh, releasing his stiff posture. he smiled dorkily at you, his eyes sparkling with the adrenaline of success and did a tiny fist bump when your dad's back was turned.

"i think pizza is delicious." zac said, shrugging his shoulders and walking up to you, putting and arm protectively around your waist. your dad pointed a finger at zac, smiling.

"now he's a keeper. let's eat, shall we?"

you let your mom and dad go into the kitchen while you pulled zac aside with an 'i told you so' look spread across your smiling face. "they love me!" he whispered, holding your hands, he could be such a dork sometimes and you loved it.

"of course they do." you nodded, pulling him in for a small peck on the lips before walking into the kitchen for further conversation.

they loved him.
