Owen was excited to finally get some time with his friends after a long time. The boys and himself had planned to play a bit of basketball since they haven't been planning to catch up after schools for a while. Owen was excited to run around the court and chat with them.
Dropping a message to his family's group chat, he locked the house and marched his way to Hector's. The park that they meet up is pretty close to their neighborhood, so they usually walk there.
Owen saw Hector march out his door, a bag swung over his shoulder, jogging up to meet him. "Sup Owen."
Owen nodded clinging onto his friend. "Yay, we're finally going to play after a long time!"
The happy vibe of Owen seeped into Hector and soon the boys were chatting away about school, and games, and the recent basketball match of the season.
As they walked past Georgia's house, Owen couldn't help but look out, as if she'd be there waiting for him to pass by and wave.
"Ew, couple torture..."
Owen ignored his best friend, tightening his grip on his shoulder. "You'd realize how normal this is once you get yourself someone. You'd be like, 'oh babe, kiss me, kiss me, don't leave me!'"
Owen cackled, tugging back at Hector even though the other screamed, trying to get away. He made kissy faces, as if pretending to kiss Hector's cheeks, making the other blush and keep a hand in front to avoid it from actually happening.
"Owen, stop!" With one final push, Owen stopped being funny and continued to walk beside him.
"Oh man, I don't know... I think I am attracted to her..."
Hector scoffed, making sure that Owen didn't get his whole reaction. "Yeah, duh, that's why you're going out with her."
Owen though, noticed the drowned tone of his. "Aww... is baby Hecky upset that his best friend is dating?"
The annoying tone of Owen's made Hector scoff even more, trying to stay away from him. It seemed impractical since they're both heading the same way.
"But, don't worry Hecky-becky, I still love you the same!" Owen invaded Hector space more, pushing into so much that Hector was walking on the grass now. "See, I love you so much that my heart beats so fast when I'm with you!"
Owen didn't stop making the funny tone. "I love your eyes..." Owen noticed Hector's eyes, though the guy was trying to hide it now that it's been brought to attention. Even without seeing Hector's eyes, Owen remembers them. Brown eyes that were so colorful that looking at it can make someone taste chocolate in their mouth.
Owen's eyes fell to Hector's cheeks. The tan skin tone fitted perfect for the guy's personality.
"I love your beautiful skin..."
Another angle down and Owen noticed his lips.
Wow... The word whispered inside his head before Owen realized.
"And yeah!" He snapped out of his thought, ignoring the weird feeling of heat spreading through his own cheeks. He decided to distract himself by continuing to be goofy. Spreading his arms out with the intention of invading Hector's personal space, Owen chased behind him to the park. "I love you Hector!"
Watching the two idiots make their way towards them, Ben and Josh snickered, the basketball being passed with a bounce to warm up. "Stop flirting, the both of you and get here so we can finally have a game!"
The boys joined together, enjoying the time together after a few weeks, discussing what's new in their life and what's happening around their areas. Then the boys got serious with a short game of basketball- well, as serious as they can get with 4 guys spilt by pairs for teams. After a few games finished, with Ben and Hector as a pair and in the lead, Josh got ready to start the third game, moving to the center of the court.
"So Owen, how's it with Georgia?"
Owen kept it short since he wanted to continue playing. "Yeah, not so bad. We went on our first date last Sunday. She's a good one."
The answer made Josh twitch, shrugging as if he expected more. But he didn't voice that and announced to start the third game. He did voice out to Ben though, informing the guy that he was going down for sure in the next 3 games.
Ben didn't go down anywhere.
Instead, it ended up as a game 3-1, Ben and Hector making up a funny dance to rub it up on Josh and Owen. As if it was all Owen's fault, Josh gave an accused look. "You're buying us all the treat you promised us."
Owen gasped, shaking his head. "No way, I didn't promise anything!"
Ben tagged along with them, pulling Owen around his arm. "That's okay, we'll just go over to the nearest McDonalds. Don't worry, that's all we're asking."
Owen made a cry for help at his best friend but Hector just snickered, shaking his head. "Traitorrr! I won't forget this!"
The boys only made Owen's time more hilarious as they dragged the poor boy towards the fast food center in hopes of a free, good, evening meal.
"I don't even love Georgia!" Owen tried to fake a strong cry for help. The statement though made Hector's heart skip a beat. "I don't know who this Georgia is!"
Stop lying damnit, thought Hector as his face turned into a scowl.
All Hector could hear all the way to McDonalds and during it was how sweet Georgia is and how perfect their stupid date was. Hector made sure to stay out of the conversation. Ben noticed him fidgeting in his seat, not at all like the guy he is, but didn't say anything.
Hector's anger towards the poor girl only increased and his hurt tagging along with. Hector didn't like that Owen was talking about her. Heck, he wondered why he didn't feel like this from the start of him drooling behind the new girl. Hector remembers: he'd only rolled his eyes, a little surprised when Owen decided to use the school bus for the first time since they've started riding together in Hector's mum's car.
That was only because she got a car given by her new job she got recruited to.
Now the car seems lonely without Owen there to make his morning bright.
Hector couldn't believe how blind he'd been.
He could already imagine the collection of pain he'd feel as Owen gets closer to Georgia, Owen falling in love with Georgia- if not yet, Owen proposing to Georgia when they graduate, Owen and Georgia moving away, Owen announcing that their expecting a boy, Owen updating his life to Hector since he's his best friend and hurting him without knowing until Hector dies a depressed death.
Jesus, only Hector hoped.
Why did Hector all of a sudden didn't like Owen settling for a girl? For a long time, he'd forgotten to even consider another person- another girl in fact, to be in the picture.
For the first time, Hector was thinking about who he was going to spend the rest of his life with. Owen on the other hand, had no idea that he was the reason for all of time.
Him and his cute ass that Hector would never, ever, in a million years, admit.
