"Daddy? Why do we have to wait in here?" The 4-year old girl asked, swinging her feet under the chair. She looked up at her Father, who held his hands together as if in prayer. He looked like a nervous wreck. Even so, the little girl had to know something; "Is Mommy gonna be okay?"

"Yes, Brenna. She'll be." her Father replied. Of course on the inside he was freaking out. He wasn't really sure if his wife was okay or not.

A few hours earlier, he was happily sitting at the table with his famil of three. His wife, and his daughter, at the kitchen table, enjoying a good soup meal. His wife was babbling about the little baby that was suppose to be born at any moment. "Maybe it'll be a boy Joseph," Maria, his wife, stated as she took a sip of her soup. "So you can finally have someone to go hunting with you. You're always complaining about how you're always so lonely whenever you go on your hunting trips."

"That would be nice," Joseph sighed, moving his soup around with his spoon, making a little vortex in the liquid substance. "I do need someone
to go hunting with."

"I want a sister," Brenna boldly stated. "That way I can play with her, and braid her hair, and-"

Brenna's rant was interrupted as her Mother suddenly collapsed on the floor. Joseph suddenly jumped up from his seat and went to his wife's side. "Maria, what's wrong?!" he frantically asked.

"Joseph, the baby, it's coming," Maria huffed, trying to catch her breath.

Joseph froze. "W-W-What do I do?! We don't have a doctor!"

"Calm down. Just....take me....to the hospital..."

Now Joseph and Brenna were waiting in the waiting room as Maria was giving birth.

Meanwhile, in the delivery room, Maria was in excruciating pain. She felt like the baby was ripping up her insides over and over again. "All right Ms. Gables, you just need to push as hard as you can okay?" the doctor instructed.

Maria could only nod as beads of sweat rolled down her face.

"Okay, on the count of three, push as hard as you can. 1...2...3!"

Maria screamed in pain as she pushed, trying to get the baby out of her body. It seemed like it was forever before the sound of a crying baby was heard.

Almost an hour passed before the nurse came out.

"Mr. Gables?" the nurse called, making Joseph stand up, grabbing his daughter's hand.

"Yes?" He asked, sweat still present on his forehead.

"Follow me." The nurse said calmly leading the two to the room where Maria was placed inside. As they walked into the room, Joseph saw his wife sitting up in her bed, holding a small bundle, wrapped in a pink blanket, in her arms.

Brenna walked in and ran right up to her mother's bed, trying to jump up on top of the bed. "Let me see the new baby," Breena said. "Can I see the baby Mommy? Can I? Pretty please?"

"Sweetie be careful," her Mother told Brenna. "I don't want you to hurt you her."

The girl looked at her mother with confusion. "Hurt her?" Then she noticed the small girl in her mother's arms. "So I have a little sister now?"

"Do you wanna hold her?" Brenna nodded carefully grabbing the baby girl.

"She's so soft." The girl giggled.

"What's her name?" The father asked sitting next to his wife's bed.

"I was thinking about naming her Catherine." Maria replied as she looked at Brenna holding the now sleeping child in her small arms.

"Catherine... I like that name."
