She felt content to see him squirm in his seat where he was tightly tied to.
"Yah! let me go, you thief, you bitch!"
It gave her power to see that he could only resort to shouting at her. She turned back to face him. "What is it like to be so powerless now? have you had any remorse over the things you've done?"
What is this bitch trying to say?! The man thought as he continued to find a way to release his self from the tight rope bounds.
"You're just like me," the woman continues, "yet I steal from wicked men such as yourself."
The light radiating off the moon shows almost a full image of the woman who visited late at night.
Faeles.
That's what they call her. the government, police, news stations, civilians, and her victims.
She's a seducer and thief at the same time.
Yet to the people she helps, they call her the modern day Robin Hood.
The forgotten, the marginalized, the victims of circumstance and luck - she helps those who believe they do not have anything in this world. She builds them back up, giving them ample resources to let the illiterate start their education, let the jobless become employees, let those without homes have a roof above their heads as they sleep...
She has done a lot for them, and she is not stopping there.
Screw the rich and selfish. she thought, grimacing back at the man she newly stole from. She blows a kiss at him, and he in return growls at the woman.
"Let me go!" he roars out loud.
She lets out a light laugh, mocking his helpless situation at hand. "Watching you is such a pity," she drawls out.
Her voice carries out such irony when compared with her actions.
Her voice is gentle and light while her actions are brash and harsh.
She climbs out the window and takes one last look at the man. "But I don't think anyone should pity you." She gives him a flirtatious wink and jumps out his window - running away with a vast amount of money that could help a number of the hungry for at least a week.
Faeles never leaves behind any traces of her when she gives away the money. It's best if no one ever knows her secret identity. Even her closest of friends have no idea what she does during nights like this.
She knows her worth as a thief and as a savior. She knows that she should not relish in the amount of praise she receives from the people or else it would corrupt every being of her.
------------
"Another incident of robbery occurred last night. The house of the COO of JBC Foods, Mister Park Heong-Su was raided last night by the mysterious thief known as 'Faeles'. Park was found tied up to a chair in his living room early this morning."
"Damn." Kim Taehyung, a man with his strikingly dyed dirty blonde hair clicks his tongue. He carries a box of newly-delivered books to the back of the counter. "Faeles is at it again."
Son Wendy continues to watch the television screen placed at the top corner of the room and silently prays that there is no police or cctv footage of her sneaking in and out last night.
Yes, Faeles is Son Wendy by day.
An assistant to Kim Taehyung who owns a café that also poses as a bookshop located at one of the busiest streets in the city.
In order for her to keep her other identity a secret, she needed to live a quaint and quiet life, literally. She chose a job wherein she earns the minimum wage and she stays silent - all the time.
The fact that she talks to the people she steals from is already something they can use against her. Thus, she decided to fake the cause of her selective mutism by making up an accident that caused her sense of talking to other people.
Despite the fact that she can't just go around talking to her new friends and even her boss, she likes the quiet life. She sees more than what other people see because she has become more observant in nature.
"Mister Park was accused three weeks ago for over-exploitation of the corporation's factory employees and has been taking legal actions to settle the lawsuit," the morning news reporter continues through the screen, "Now, a representative of the company has informed the public of their disappointment and distress over the way the police has been handling their capture of Faeles. The company's representative added that Mister Park, himself, has shown his distrust over the city's police department-"
Wendy immediately shuts off the T.V. with the remote. She hides a scowl waiting to form on her face.
In the end, she thinks, all the news cares about is how I stole from Park Heong-Su. They basically only mentioned the over-exploitation in just a sentence!
"Hey!" Taehyung whines. "I was watching."
Wendy looks at her boss then pouts her lips. She shakes her head. Taehyung lets out a huff.
"If you don't want to watch it then you can just let it stay on without minding it," he continues. Wendy shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly and Taehyung lets out a tired laugh. "I have no idea how I'm still alive despite talking to a quiet person like you."
She smiles at him and heads to her station in the café which is the small kitchen counter-top where they prepare the drinks and finger food served in the café.
The bells on the door ring, signifying that their first customer for the day has arrived. Taehyung dusts his hands with the denim apron wrapped around his waist and walks to the entrance to welcome their customers.
That is the work dynamic of this particular café. Wendy is in-charge of the kitchen and bringing the food to the customers while Taehyung is in-charge of the cash register and entertaining the customers.
"Good morning! Welcome to- oh, hyung!" Taehyung smiles widely at the man who arrived.
Wendy, due to her curiosity, turns to looks at the man who Taehyung calls 'hyung'.
Taehyung immediately hugs the man and is instantly pushed away from the hug.
"That's not how you treat someone you know, hyung," Taehyung complains, frowning at his hyung.
The man just scoffs at him then puts his hands in his pockets, he looks around the café and the different shelves filled with books that decorated the walls. "So this is the place you opened three months ago?"
"10 months ago!" Taehyung gasps in disappointment, "I can't believe you thought that I opened this three months ago! Hyung, I've been telling you to visit this place for 10 months!" Taehyung throws his hands in the air.
"Aish, and I'm now here so could you shut your yapping mouth?"
Wendy has been observing their interaction for a while now that she does not even notice that the man has taken her presence behind the counter into account.
"Does she really just stare?" The man comments out loud, asking Taehyung who has been talking for the past minutes.
Wendy's eyes widen when she realizes that the man was pointing at her. Her cheeks start to flush in embarrassment and decides to play it off by grabbing a copy of the menu and walking to the table where the two men are seated. She places the menu on the table and the man just stares plainly at it.
"Ah, this is Son Wendy," Taehyung starts, gesturing at the woman who was silently standing by the table. "She's my assistant and has been working here for the past 10 months," he emphasizes at the end.
Wendy lets out a small smile and slightly bows her head at the man. He, in turn, just looks at her with a bored expression.
"Well, she's a woman of a few words."
Oh, if only he knew how she could pack a voice...and a punch to his face.
Taehyung throws an all too-familiar look at Wendy. It's always the look he gives when he asks if he could tell someone about her condition. She nods once at him, giving him the permission to do so.
"Wendy is actually selectively mute. She rarely talks. I've basically only heard her say a word once and it was even in a very soft voice."
The man then starts to look at Wendy in an intriguing manner. He has never met someone who was selectively mute, and he finds it fascinating to finally interact with one. Frankly, he wouldn't mind to be in the presence of a silent person.
"You sound like a better companion than Taehyung here," he utters, raising an eyebrow at her.
"Hey!" Taehyung exclaims.
Wendy merely shrugs her shoulders as a reply.
"I'm Min Yoongi," the man introduces himself.
"Yeah, and he's a po-"
"Photographer," Yoongi immediately cuts Taehyung off whilst sending him a death glare which Wendy did not catch, "I'm a photographer. And I think you may have gained a new regular customer in this café."
