Chapter 8
Wow, a new chapter?
Impossible.
(No POV)
Early in the morning, whilst all the mobs were still asleep, everything seemed absolutely calm and normal in a small clearing somewhere else in the woods. Well, that was, until a void-colored portal appeared in the middle of the clearing horizontally, and dropped a black and white figure right onto the grass (face-planting it in the process) before quickly disappearing, as if nothing had ever happened.
The being groaned in frustration into the ground due to being involuntarily face-planted into a new realm, before they sat up and adjusted the originally lopsided small crown that adorned their head. Looking around, the strange mob stood up to investigate the new foreign land that they had been tossed upon, first noticing of how the sun was barely shining its light over the straight-lined horizon.
As the mysterious figure walked through the forest, it wasn't long until they came upon another biome, more specifically one that quickly cut off into a rocky tundra biome. Though, just as the being stepped foot into the snowy biome, a giant gust of freezing cold wind blew past them and made them shiver before they hastily went back into the forest biome.
As they wandered around, it wasn't long before they ran into one of the many inhabitants of the island, the specific entity being a small, resting fox that the humanoid mob almost tripped over. The fox awoke with a start, looking around and growling to anything that may have disturbed its slumber, just to look up and see the looming figure towering over its one-block height. The sleek mammal yipped in fright, its expression glazed with terror and shock, before it darted away into the underbrush in a frantic scurry, leaving the confused being alone in the forest as silence enveloped the area once more.
Going on as if nothing had just occurred, the dual-colored being continued on with their small exploration, trekking through the undefined path as no tree or bush seemed to cross in their way. They paused for a moment in front of a small frog that rested upon a hollow log, crouching down in front of it as they peered curiously at the tiny amphibian, slowly stretching out a hand towards the creature, a pointer finger directed towards it, when a sudden shift of movement that they caught from the corner of their eye stole away their attention.
The movement simply turned out to be a small bird launching from a tree branch, but what was beyond that action was what really caught the odd mob's eye.
A rather fair-sized clearing was lying to their right, with a small, oak, cottage-like hut built in the middle with a large tree off to the side of it, bearing a currently inactive beehive that wafted a slightly detectable yet quite calming aroma of honey into the surrounding air. The sun had now risen farther into the sky now, casting more of its warm rays down onto the forest, some beams even drifting through some of the overhanging canopy at the exact right angle so that it created a beautiful pattern overhead.
It was clear that at this time of dawn, a greater quantity of the land's inhabitants would be awakening, so that meant only one thing for the being; to hide. They knew that they would come across the small lodge again someday, maybe soon, maybe long in the future, but with one long, last thoughtful gaze at the house, they were swept away by their long strides from their original location into a different, opposite direction, setting out to find a place to stay for the time being.
It was simply that entity's small time of walking around on the island that would, or more certainly will, make a later lasting effect on the two protagonists of this story.
(Tubbo but 3rd POV)
Tubbo woke blearily from sleep, grunting in protest as sunlight shined on his face through the open window next to his bed. He shifted around, facing his back towards the paneled glass and soon relaxed back into sleep, softly smiling as a content sigh left his throat.
Though, a couple moments later, a soft 'tap' noise came from the window, and the smile soon left the short brunette's expression as he snuggled deeper into the bed, trying to block out all the noise that would no longer grant him rest.
Another 'tap' came from the window, and Tubbo grumbled before pulling the pillow over his head, no longer in a relaxed position as he was determined to block out all sound before he went back to sleep.
A couple moments passed, and the male let out a soft exhale in relief before releasing his grip on the pillow and allowing himself to fade away from consciousness once more. The soft, occasional chirping of a small bird outside could be heard, and Tubbo was about gone into the non-reality realm of sleep, when suddenly-
A large, boulder-shaped rock was heaved through the window, effectively shattering it as it flew haphazardly over Tubbo's bed, missing the teen's body by such slim distance before it smashed into the opposing wall, creating a dent where it landed in both the wall and the floor.
Tubbo scrambled out of bed, now wide awake and alert as he anxiously flitted his eyes from the rock on the ground to the shattered glass and back.
A recognizable voice from outside shouted out something intelligible from where the 17-year-old was standing, and he went over to the shattered frame of glass before poking his head out the window.
Of course, Tommy was standing right outside with a massive fucking grin on his face, and Tubbo scowled and shook his head playfully as he realized that it was his best friend's doing that the paneled glass in his room had forcefully spewed pieces of itself all over his room, not to mention there was now a giant rock nestled in a shallow depression against the wall.
"WAKEY WAKEY DICKHEAD!" The blonde taunted, before he shot off into the forest as the brunette stood up and tried to run after him.
It wasn't long until Tubbo managed to rugby tackle their almost brother-like figure and give Tommy a piece of his mind.
"OK OK, I'm sorry I'm sorry!" The taller managed to choke out from their laughter as the shorter somehow had him in a headlock and was noogie-ing the top of his head to absolute hell. Tubbo huffed and released him after a bit more torture, but still turned away, crossed his arms, and pouted about his broken window.
"You know you're gonna have to help me rebuild it, Tommy." Tubbo pointed out after he was done pouting, and Tommy gave out a small chuckle and started heading off to the piglin's huts to start his daily chores.
"Yeah yeah, I know. It was worth it though."
The brunette ran up to Tommy whacked him on the head for that.
(Tommy's POV)
I hummed along to an imaginary tune as I went to the smoke house to grab some hoglin meat that I would soon give to the piglings (let's just pretend that hoglins aren't one of the mobs that Tommy takes care of-), of which I knew would wake up in just a little bit. As I lifted up the giant slabs of cooked, chopped meat, I heard an unnatural pattern of the rustle of leaves, and I dropped the giant pork chops back onto the table before dashing out of the house.
I scanned the area as thoroughly as possible when I spotted a small spot of orange fur poking through a leaf bush.
I made sure to approach it carefully in case it was that humanoid fox that I had seen last night, and I reached into the bush to pull out....
A regular fox looking curiously at me, their head cocked in slight confusion as their tail wagged a little in greeting.
I let out a sigh that I didn't know I had been holding in, before I gently set the orange-furred mammal onto the ground below, their eyes instantly turning back upwards towards me as if they expected something.
"Oh. Yeah, sorry about that, I just thought you were someone else." I quickly apologized, before thinking about something else for a second. "Well, since you're here anyways, I might as well allow you to bring some food to you comrade foxes, well, if you have any, I mean." The fox nodded in understanding, and they went and got a fair-sized piece of meat from the table I had set them on before dashing off further inland to the island.
'Damn, that weird fox thing has gotten me all paranoid and shit. Might as well confront those weird mobs at the shore sometime when I'm done, maybe try to interrogate them or something when Tubbo and I are done with our chores.' I thought, before walking off to check up on the wither and normal skeletons.
Hopefully nothing would go wrong today.
Y'know, I would say that this seems like a filler chapter, but maybe it isn't-
Anyways, sorry for having gone away for so long, but I really just had no ideas for this book if I were to be honest.
Luckily, that long couple of months that I was away allowed me to come up with something that may or may not resemble a plot, because my first reaction to creating an actual plot that made sense for once was like-
But at least I have something planned out now.
Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed this piece of garbage, and I promise you that the next chapter (hopefully) won't be so late.
Fox Out!
