Chapter 10
Plz help me, I can't stop seeing Tubbo as a ram hybrid in this story-
Also, this chapter isn't beta read, so be warned lmao
Enjoy
It was a beautiful morning outside.
Flowers were singing, birds were blooming-
On days like these, children like you-
Should be fixing up a window for your brother-like friend because you broke it in the first place.
Tommy sighed, slathering more clear paste on the sides of the last window shard before fitting it into the glass pane that was currently laying at his feet. Getting up from his crouched position, he breathed out heavily and stretched his legs to release the tension that cramped them together, before admiring the work that he had done in fixing up the window.
Every single glass shard was pieced back together and was in their place perfectly, and the repair job seemed to have gone so well that it was almost as if the circular window wasn't even broken in the first place.
As much as Tommy hated to admit it (though Tubbo and the other mobs gladly did right in his fucking face), he was a pretty good architect when he was set and focused in his work. Building and repairing things, whether it be repairing a pulley system that worked to bring things up a level in some sort of building, or crafting up some new enclosures for the ever-growing amount of mobs that they seemed to be getting from all 3 dimensions. He was also the one who builts their houses, for the skies sake.
"Hey Tubs! The window's done!" Tommy called out, and fast footsteps could be heard as a faint 'I'm coming!' came back in reply. The blond sighed shook his head fondly, but waited patiently for his friend to arrive.
Tubbo soon arrived at the clearing, and upon seeing his repaired window, he instantly ran over to his friend and rugby tackled him to the ground with absolutely no warning.
"Thanks Big Man." Tubbo said, before threatening, "But if you ever shatter my window again, I will make it my personal goal to shatter your head."
Tommy quickly nodded, gulping nervously, because threats from Tubbo should never be taken lightly.
An example being: Once, a group of sassy baby zombies didn't do what they were told to do, and were excruciatingly rude for an entirety of 2 fucking weeks, when Tommy had finally had enough of their bullshit and decided to bring the problem up to Tubbo. The next day, the brunette had confronted them about it, and the baby zombies did naught but spew out profanities towards the Caretaker and blow fucking rasberries at him. Tubbo instantly grew infuriated with them and threatened them with the prospect of nukes, but they decided to be ignorant and ignore him.
It was only a day later that the group of immature mobs walked into the clearing that Tubbo usually resided in, just to look upon a giant metal capsule shell that rose from the ground. The silently chaotic brunette could be seen all the way up to where the halfway mark on the shell was, pouring in what seemed to be hundreds of pounds of gunpowder into the nuke capsule.
It was amazing how fast they apologized and promised to never pull a stunt like that again, and soon after the nuke capsule was put away, deep in the ground where Tubbo's lab was located, always ready to show off its intimidation to rude little mob shits whenever it was needed to.
Back to the present, the two caretakers were currently lifting up the window from off of the ground, getting ready to slot the large piece of glass back into its original place, as the paste to hold it in place was already set in the hole and was ready to hold the glass pane once again, when Tubbo decided to bring up the topic of humans.
"Hey Tommy?"
"Yeah?"
"So, you know those 'odd mobs' that are at the head of the island?" Tubbo asked, and the blond nodded, curious as of where this conversation was going.
"So, Fundy talked to me earlier about who those odd mobs are. Apparently, they're called humans, and while most of them are nice, there's this group of humans that Fundy mentioned that are called 'Mob Hunters'." When Tubbo mentioned the bad type of humans, Tommy seemed to freeze up and grimace, as if he had suddenly remembered something. Tubbo narrowed his eyes in suspicion and confusion, but didn't ask him about it as he continued to talk and help the younger fit the window back into outside of his house.
"Anyways, Fundy and I saw some other humans coming onto our island, and they were bringing cages, Tommy, and long, black, noodle things that could whip at something with so much force it could pierce through the hide of a Piglin. And then, Fundy goes and says that those people are Mob Hunters." A flash of fear went across the older's expression, obvious rising panic creeping up the brunette's face. Tommy struggled to not share the same expression as they finished putting in the window.
"But we don't have to worry about those humans that are at the big beach area. Fundy said that they're good humans, and some are even hybrids. Hybrids, Tommy! I've only heard about hybrids from the old stories that the witches used to tell us, y'know?"
"Anyways, I just wanted to inform you of all that, but it just kinda scares me that there are humans who hunt mobs for fun on this island. What if they've already started hunting? What if there are some mobs who are already hurt, or killed?! Tommy, what do we do?!" Tubbo said, starting to panic as all the possible things that could happen in the next minute swarmed through the shorter's head.
Tommy put a comforting hand on Tubbo's shoulder, just as the latter did when he was having a breakdown over the wolf pup, helping shake Tubbo out of his spiral before it got worse.
"Tubs. Big T. Listen to me, alright? Every mob on this island will be protected to their best extent, and we will make sure of that. The one thing that we don't need right now is someone freaking out over possibilities that we don't even know exist, ok?" Tommy stated firmly, wincing internally over the fact that he may have been a bit harsh, but Tubbo needed to remember that they were an important factor in ever single mob's care on this island. They couldn't just stand by and grieve over something that could only have a possibility of actually happening whilst over 500 mobs depended on their care and what their next decision was.
Sniffling, Tubbo nodded quickly in agreement, wiping away his incoming tears as a watery, determined look lit in his eyes. Tommy grinned, before asking, "So, where did you see those 'Mob Hunters' that you speak of?"
And while they wandered off to the location of the yacht-like human ship, something dark was brewing in the shadows. A duo of enderman watching them croaked out something intelligible to each other, before they both nodded and teleported away.
~
Loud voices and laughter rang through the air as a human-built base was soon set up inbetween the diverse forest and the murky swamp, in an acacia biome where all mobs hastily left upon hearing the unfamilair noise of human vehicles and human chatter.
A man leaning against a table while smoking a pipe was approached by another man, of whom whispered words into the pipe-man's ear to inform him of something. Pipe Man huffed in what seemed to be slight irritation after the man finished, before putting his pipe down and getting off the table.
He marched to the center of the camp, the man trailing behind him, before yelling, "Alright, you bloody maggots! Listen up!"
The chatter quickly died down as all the inhabitants of the camp shuffled towards their leader, forming a wide circle around him as to show that they were at attention.
"My second-in-command here has reported to me that there has been suspicious activity coming from two of our fellow mates. They of who that go by the name of....Jack Manifold and Niki Nihachu! Bring them here, lads!" The crowd surrounding them roared in outburst, people constantly talking over each other as they saw a pink-haired woman and a man with 3-d glasses be pushed out from the crowd and to the leader's feet.
"Now, lads, care to explain the meaning of....this?" The pipe man questioned cynically, watching as healthy and recently-fed piglets were yanked into view, leads roped tightly around their small necks as they squealed out frantically to their owners for help. A look of distress quickly came over the duo's face, and they gazed back at their leader pleadingly.
The leader simply chuckled darkly at their reaction, before snapping his fingers and watching as the piglet's heads were swiftly decapitated from their bodies with the swing of two axes. The two that were forced onto the ground looked at the piglets with silent, mortified horror.
"Now, you dirty traitors, don't you remember the vow that you spoke all those years ago? The one that involved, I don't know, the fact that if you were to ever dare tame any mob without malicious intent, that you would be subject to punishment?" The two gulped and nodded nervously, and the leader showed off their disgusting teeth in a nasty grin before turning to the crowd around them.
"Say, lads! These two traitors are at your mercy, so what do you say? Death, or exile?" The leader shouted, and the crowd broke out into a flurry of voices once more.
"Death!"
"Exile!"
"Death!"
"Exile!"
"Exile! Exile! Exile!"
The leader smirked at the crowd's response, nodding in agreement, before motioning towards the statue-like men that stood stiffly off to the side.
"By the declaration of the camp of Burghlind and I, Burghlind himself, I hereby order Jack Manifold's and Niki Nihachu's exile!" Burghlind proclaimed, and the crowd yelled and cheered as the two were forced back onto their feet and harshly pushed out of the boundaries of the camp.
"And if I ever see you filthy rats in this camp again, my marksmen won't hesitate to shoot ya straight through the heart! And you both know how good their aim is." Burghlind called out after them, and it wasn't long until they were left alone in the dirt.
They cried with each other about their loss until the sun started to set, before they decided to build at least some sort of shelter so that they wouldn't freeze to death.
They would just have to see how life went for them tomorrow.
Ayo we got some Jack Manifold and Niki content in here now lmao.
Anyways, since school starts on Wednesday for me, I'll probably be updating a little bit less frequently than I am rn, but I won't go completely silent like I did during the summer lol.
Edit: Haha I lied about this ^
Also, I'm planning on having this book end at chapter 15, since I'm tryin'a make the plot move a lot more now than it did in the past, so yeah.
Edit: PAST ME SERIOUSLY UNDERESTIMATED MY MOTIVATION FOR THIS BOOK IT NOW ENDS IN THE NEXT CHAPTER AND NIKI AND JACK MIGHT AS WELL BE IRRELEVANT I'M SO SORRY-
And who knew that watching your brother play 2k21 while listening to Minecraft music at full blast was the best concoction for writing over 1000 words in less than an hour? hAh, I didn't.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed, and I'll be seein' y'all later!
