Chapter 4
*Michael*
"I found a keycard." Allary announced when her and Travis returned from the bathrooms.
"Great. We should see what's through this other doorway," Michael said, "Lead the way."
Allary switched on her flashlight and shone it through the other doorway. She looked absolutely terrified. Michael walked over and stood next to her, offering her his hand.
"I'll lead with you if you want." He stated, looking into her wide, stormy grey eyes.
"Thank you." She whispered, placing her hand in his.
Michael squeezed her hand reassuringly, and the group began forward. Allary kept her light on the ground, which was probably a good thing. They appeared to be in a short hallway that turned right. Around the bend was a door that looked like it needed a key card. Allary tried the card. There was a click, and the door opened. Michael cautiously peered around the doorway, making sure the coast was clear.
"Coast is clear." He whispered to the others, walking through the doorway into the long hall.
Allary shone her flashlight on each of the doors, and Michael and the others tried to open them. Evan tried one, and it opened into a large room with a bunch of tables and files and computers. There were several doorways that lead to police officers' offices, and each one was labeled with a name.
"Hey, I found something!" Evan called from one of the offices, waving his hand in the air in triumph.
"What is it?" Allary asked, jogging over to him.
"A tablet camera."
"We can keep tabs on Mr. Wolfy-Woo now." Michael pointed out.
"Yeah. Michael, you be in charge of this, okay? Let us know if something unwanted is coming over." Evan instructed, handing the boy the tablet.
"Okay."
Right then, the power went out. Someone cried out. There was a thunk as Allary's flashlight hit the floor. She cursed and scrambled after it.
"We have to get the power back on." Travis said, switching on his phone's flashlight.
"No really?" Evan scoffed, "I thought we could just wait here in the darkness for Wolfy to come kill us."
"I could do without the sarcasm!"
"Travis, lower your voice. We do need to get the power back on, STAT. Let's send two people. Who wants to go turn the power back on?" Michael asked.
"I'll go." Allary said.
"Should I go with?"
"No, I'll go with her. Someone can use the flashlight on their phone." Travis declared.
"That's fine, Travis. You should stay with your girlfriend to keep her calm." Allary pointed out.
"Um, I'm fine. I mean, I'm scared shitless, but so is everyone else. I'm not like on the verge of a breakdown. I'll be fine." Madison snarled.
"So that's settled. Let's go, Allary." Travis said, heading towards the door.
He held it open for her, and she walked through the doorway. As she did, he grabbed her ass.
'Oh, come on, Travis...' Michael thought.
"Piss off, you swine!" Allary hissed, clawing his hand.
Travis yelped in pain and sharply withdrew his hand. Michael frowned as they left, and headed over to Evan.
"So...you don't, like, think Travis'll try to do anything to Allary, do you?" Michael asked him.
"I don't think so. I mean, this isn't the time nor the place to try and get it on with someone, so..." Evan trailed off.
"I hope you're right. I don't really trust him anymore."
"I never trusted him to begin with. I don't know why you even invited him in the first place."
"Because he's my friend."
"That's not a good excuse."
"I know, but that's what I'm going with."
"So, should we try to explore some other rooms, or should we wait here?"
"I think we should wait for them to get back."
"Alright. Let's wait, then."
