Structure

I don't know if you've noticed,
All my poems have a similar rhythm.
Don't ask why, I do not know,
It's just the way they run.

I'm sorry if they get boring,
I'm sorry they're not all unique
In structure but their words
Mean different things to me.

It's just the way I do things,
A slow and steady pace.
Mostly even but sometimes jagged,
Awkward and a mess.

But I stay the same,
I do not change,
At least not by that much.
My poems reflect me in that sense,
My constant awkwardness.

But now since I have said that,
This one has changed.
It has become quite different,
Perhaps as I have aged.

But now I'm back to fours again,
Just where I like to be.
In the simplicity of these four lines,
My mind finds clarity.

Maybe I'll change things up a bit,
More often just for you.
It's good to try new things sometimes
I know that that is true.

So maybe I'll write a different way,
Maybe I'll try the same.
But each will have new words for you
And that will never change.

I hope they are not boring,
I hope you can stand to listen
As I read these out loud,
Watching your polished headstone glisten.

This one was pretty pointless,
But it's a thought nonetheless.
I want you to know more about me,
More of what's inside my head.
