A Long Day

Woke up real late

went to the cafe for a plate

some eggs on toast

a few jammy muffins and bread

to uncloud my head.

Lou stood with her hands on her hips

"You should have kissed the sheriff on the lips

you've kissed before, should have again

Now he'll think he has been friend zoned"

she lectured and walked off with a groan.

Frank kept talking about a twirly

that would get the sheriff's teeth pearly

I thought he was drunk

so I shook my head to keep him at bay

then I quickly skedaddled away.

Just before Noon

the shootout began too soon

bullets were fired in the hotel

Bang! A body fell to the floor

Mr. Chester was no more.

The sheriff was mighty upset

always a fight or another threat

so at the saloon, under the stairs

he downed a bottle or two

the only thing he knew to do.

I dragged him out the saloon real slow

then I asked "Where do you want to go?"

"To the hamtel, and make it swingy"

we both fell into hammock, a tangled mess

swung down into the dust, without success.

Next to my office we were moved

the Mayor and AJ looked amused

so I had to kick them out, yet AJ kept his word

send over some band aid

Fresh clothes and lemonade.

The rest of it is a bit of a blur

The sheriff kept yelling 'I am sober'

A clean shirt wouldn't do

He asked for a tub

To rub a dub dub.

I pushed the peeking CM out

closed the window and turned about

Lilac bubbles ... he was in...

his clothes were piled on the floor

he was sleeping in the tub ... snore!
