Did you know that you've been watching the movie Burny with me?

It's not because this novella began life as a screenplay. A movie I started writing in the middle of story events and completed by adding the ending and the beginning—in that order.

No.

When you read my words and use your imagination to bring the story to life, you are watching its movie with me.

I need you to make that happen. Without your imagination, my words will be meaningless.

My words only describe the scenes and introduce the characters so you can know what they know, see what they see, feel what they feel, and then you become the characters.

No flowery words. No long descriptions. No over explaining.

Then your mind takes control of that special moment, picks my words apart, and weaves them back together to form the movie you see in your mind's eye.

And for taking the time to watch Burny with me, I give you my deepest gratitude.

Thank you very much for giving me two of the most precious things in the world: your time and your imagination.
