"Namjoon," Jin said after Jimin had left the kitchen furious, "I wanted to ask you this since yesterday: Do you know the difference between lecturing and teaching?"
Namjoon furrowed his eyebrows. "Isn't that the same?"
The doc looked displeased. "No, it's not. The difference lies within the tone you use while speaking. Could you, for the sake of the team, stop sounding like you think of yourself as superior? You're lecturing. Try using a neutral tone when you speak, because right now you're sounding like a damn prick!"
The physician had become unhealthily red during his little talk, and Namjoon stared at him, mouth opened to say something but no sound coming over his lips. A speechless Brain was quite seldom. Yoongi almost felt like applauding. He shook his head at the thought. Taehyung was rubbing off on him.
"I gladly take the time to teach you the difference," the hazel-haired offered before he left.
"He's right," Taehyung said in a playful tone towards the commander and stood up as well. "I think you could be a pretty decent guy, if you stopped talking like we're dumb kids. Especially towards Jimin. He seems to suffer enough from only being a passenger."
And with that, the V left too.
Yoongi looked at the raven soldier in front of him. Would he say something or not? If the muscular frame in the black turtleneck would not contrast that much with the white walls of the ship, one could easily forget about him. Today he had heard his voice for the first time, and it had not been unpleasant. The man should talk more often. But who was he to say something like this when he preferred being quiet, too. Well, if it was not for a certain alien that made him talk way too much. Now that he thought about it, he should probably apologize for before, so he stood up to follow his piloting colleague.
"Offi- Yoongi?" Hoseok interrupted his plan. "May I talk to you privately?"
The captain did not sound like it was something particularly serious they had to discuss, but his almost black eyes held an attentive glint. With a half-shrug-half-nod motion he gestured the brunette to lead the way.
When they entered the bridge, Hoseok turned around to him. "Taehyung told me about his assumption that you're a Switcher." Yoongi almost growled. This damn V seriously had talked to the captain about this when he was not even sure? "Would you take a DNA-test?"
Yoongi frowned. Of course, he was interested in this, too, but he felt betrayed by the first pilot.
Hoseok seemed to see the irritation on his face and tried to becalm him. "I'm just suggesting this because we could train this ability to maybe use it in the battle."
Yoongi took a deep breath and smoothed his face into the normal uninterested state. "I know, captain. I'll take the test if that's the right decision."
"No, it's not about right or wrong. We just-"
"Might I add something," Bang interrupted the soldier.
Hoseok looked slightly confused but gave his permission.
"My database does not contain information about DNA albeit Dr. Kim has the technical abilities to make a test. All I could do is compare officer Min's DNA to a human one, but the doctor can do this, too. So, we can only determine whether he's human or not, nothing more."
Hoseok looked slightly disappointed, but after Jimin's explanation of AIs at dinner, they both understood.
"I'll head off now, if you allow me to," Yoongi said and looked at the captain expectantly. He had to confront a certain alien.
After Hoseok waved him off with the promise to take the test as soon as possible, he left the bridge and entered the elevator to get one floor lower to the personal rooms. His and Taehyung's were across from each other what made it easy to find it.
He pushed the bell, determined to make his point, but the V opened the door and simply pulled him into the darkness of the room. Yoongi almost stumbled over Seokjin who sat on the floor, his smart panel in hand and 3D glasses on, concentrated on a racing game which must be Mario card 3D, if he was right. When the door closed, the room sunk into complete darkness again, except for the hypnotizing colorful dots that moved over the intelligent walls in confusing patterns. This was truly a V's room.
"I found someone who's better at a game than me," Taehyung said happily when he sat down next to Jin and joined the race again. Apparently, he had driven against a wall to greet Yoongi at the door.
"Well, you never played it before," the warm voice of the physician replied.
Yoongi was shocked. "How can someone not know Mario card 3D?" he asked astounded, the reason for coming here completely forgotten.
"Well, I'm more of an ego shooter player," the V explained and bent to the side to lean into a corner. It was funny how people still thought this would help.
Yoongi climbed onto the bed behind the two other crewmembers and asked Bang to give him glasses and to lock in his smart panel as well. His serious talk with the first pilot would have to wait. He had not had played this game in years, but seeing their oldest Jin sitting on the floor like a teen convinced him that it was no shame to play it again. They would have to find something to fill their days anyways, and Bang's repertoire seemed limited if one could trust the Charmers word.
"What're your personal types in a person?" Taehyung suddenly asked after they had started the first race with all three of them.
"The person must be smart, beautiful and sympathetic," Jin answered without missing a beat.
Taehyung laughed. "So, basically, you'd date yourself?"
"Yeah, totally," the doc said and sounded dead-serious.
"And you, sugar?"
"I decline to answer," Yoongi responded. His colleague did not need to know that he was his type. At least physically. The weird craziness was something else.
Taehyung seemed to accept his reply and concentrated back on the game. This was suspicious, Yoongi decided. If he had learned anything, it was that the V would never let him off the hook so easily. Watching the younger attentively from the corner of his eye, he tried his best to win the game. He was not bad, if he might say so, and close to the end he even was fighting with Taehyung for second place. Jin was first; the man seemed to rule the game.
When there were only some seconds left, an idea formed inside his head. It was revenge and success in one, so he went for it. Fast, he leaned forward and licked over the younger's pinna. The man instantly forgot about everything and turned around to him in shock, crashing his car on a wall. The V did not only lose his second place, he lost the whole game. Yoongi laughed evilly.
"This calls for revenge," the ash-brown growled and stood up, leaving his smart panel and 3D-glasses on the floor.
He jumped onto the bed and before Yoongi could do anything but rolling on the stomach the taller was lying on top of him, one arm around his neck, ready to choke him. This man really had spent too much time with combat training. But before he could say something to get the younger off him, he felt something wet on his pinna and groaned in frustration. He should have known.
"Jin!" he called out for the oldest and reached over the edge of the bed to garb the doc's shoulder, but Taehyung was faster and grabbed his hand to fix it over his head. "Jin, please! Help!"
The hazel-head was unimpressed and started a new race alone. Yoongi was ignored. Well, he probably deserved it for challenging an alien. But when Taehyung's tongue was poking into his ear, he had enough. He squirmed under the heavy body and tried to wiggle the other off, begging for mercy. Why was this man so strange?
"You're heavy. Get off me. Can't breathe," he tried in a last attempt to get free.
And to his surprise the body on top of him lifted itself up and he could turn on his back again to take some deep breaths before he was pressed into the mattress again. Unfortunately, the stunning face was just centimeters from his and a pair of dark eyes was dangerously close.
"I hunt other cheaters. Did you already forget?" the V asked in the same deep voice he had used back on the bridge before the ugly incident and pushed the sugar-head's glasses up on his forehead.
"You're way too close for comfort," Yoongi tried to argue nervously.
Taehyung seemed to think for a moment, then he understood what he was trying to say and grinned cockily. "It's not that you dislike it. After all, I'm your type if one can believe the data," he purred.
"How'd you- Did you hack my personal data?" Yoongi hissed angrily. Unbelievable this man.
But to his surprise Taehyung just laughed happily, "No, but you just confirmed me."
Well, shit. This was embarrassing. And they even had this conversation in front of Jin. Yoongi had only realized that there was someone else when he had heard the artificial cheering that came with a win. He felt his cheeks heating up and wished he could dissolve into the mattress. Fortunately, the only light was the window with the game.
The alien must never be challenged, he thought.
"Is there any way to win against you?" he growled and looked to the side to not have the coffee eyes stare at him so intensely in the dark.
"Nope," the younger said with a wide grin and got off him. Yoongi, for some reason, missed the weight on him. It had been unfamiliarly comfortable. He felt like he had lost a protecting shield that guarded him from reality and the clinical coldness of the room. He wanted the younger back as a blanket, but unfortunately the V was already playing another round with the doc.
After he also resumed to the game, they played several more hours, and Taehyung got better very fast. At one point, Jin threatened he would not come again, if the V should always win against him. Yoongi guessed that Taehyung always became second after that to not lose a gaming partner. Still, the evening was fun, and the quiet Seokjin turned out to be not so quiet when it came to playing games. The man was fun, though he sometimes made jokes only he laughed about, but then again, his laughter was so hilarious that Taehyung would always laugh with him. Yoongi loved it. He felt pleasantly normal. Just a bunch of guys who played games, not soldiers on a mission to a death command.
Jin was the first to bid his goodbye, and Yoongi decided he had enough, too. The room with its blinking lights was confusing and overstimulating his senses a little.
In the doorframe he turned around again. "I originally came to talk to you."
"Oh, but we exchanged quite some information, didn't we?" Taehyung asked with an oblivious face.
Yoongi was confused for a moment as to what that was supposed to mean, but he shook it off and concentrated on the topic again. Maybe it was too late for some serious talk, but he just wanted to know.
"Why did you tell Hoseok?"
The V looked at him attentively and with an unfamiliar seriousness. "Because I know you want to know. Good night, sugar."
And with that the door closed and left Yoongi in the plain white hallway.
