CHAPTER - 0 5
Chapter -0 5
A Web of Deceit
The dimly lit office felt like a labyrinth of clues, each one more twisted than the last. Parth and Jiya sat side by side at the table, papers scattered around them, their eyes bleary from hours of work. The once-clear lines between their professional relationship and the buried emotions that lingered between them were beginning to blur.
Parth glanced at Jiya, her brow furrowed as she stared at the stack of documents before her. The exhaustion was evident in her posture, but so was her determination. Her hands trembled slightly as she flipped through the pages.
“You alright?” Parth’s voice cut through the silence, a quiet note of concern in his tone.
Jiya didn’t look up. “I’m fine,” she muttered, her voice distant. “Just trying to piece this together.”
Parth could feel the tension in the air. They had been working together for days, combing through the evidence, but tonight, something felt different. The proximity, the way their shoulders brushed as they leaned over the table together—it was like nothing had changed. The old sparks were there, simmering beneath the surface, threatening to ignite once more.
“I think I’ve found something,” Jiya said suddenly, her voice sharp with realization. She pulled a piece of paper closer, pointing to the fingerprint analysis results. “These fingerprints don’t match the judge. They were planted. Someone wanted to mislead the investigation, frame the judge, and make it look like he was involved in the blackmail.”
Parth leaned in, studying the document with growing suspicion. The implications of this discovery hit him like a jolt of electricity. “But why would someone want to frame the judge? Who has that kind of power?”
Jiya’s eyes met his, and for a fleeting moment, the room seemed to narrow to just the two of them. “The question is, who benefits from the judge’s death and the chaos that followed?”
Parth didn’t have to say it out loud; they both knew. Rajat. And perhaps someone even more dangerous.
The case was unraveling before their eyes, but the deeper they dug, the more complex it became. This wasn’t just about a murdered judge—it was about a network of deceit, a web spun by powerful individuals who would stop at nothing to protect their secrets.
Hours passed as they pored over the evidence, the flickering light of the desk lamp casting long shadows across the room. Parth had long since lost track of time. All that mattered now was finding the truth.
But as the night dragged on, Parth couldn’t ignore the magnetic pull between them. He’d never stopped caring for Jiya—he had never truly stopped loving her. And now, as they worked together, the old feelings resurfaced, stronger than before.
“Jiya,” Parth said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.
She looked up, meeting his gaze. There was something raw in the way they looked at each other, an unspoken understanding that no words could fully capture.
“I never stopped loving you,” he confessed, his voice hoarse, as though the words had been trapped inside him for years.
Jiya’s breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding as she processed his words. The vulnerability in his eyes made it hard to breathe.
“I…” Jiya hesitated, her hands trembling slightly as she set down the papers. “Parth, I don’t know what to say.”
Parth leaned in closer, his heart hammering in his chest. The air between them grew heavy, charged with unspoken emotions. For a moment, everything else faded—the investigation, Rajat, the lies. There was only the warmth of her proximity, the undeniable pull between them.
But before either of them could move any closer, Parth’s phone buzzed, shattering the moment. His hand trembled slightly as he pulled the phone from his pocket, seeing the name on the screen.
It was a lead.
Without a word, Parth stood, the moment slipping away as quickly as it had arrived. “We need to go. It’s a witness—he’s coming forward with something important.”
Jiya stood as well, her face a mask of frustration and confusion. What? How?
As they raced to the scene, the tension between them only grew. Jiya’s mind was a whirlwind of thoughts—her engagement to Rajat, the way Parth had just laid his heart bare, and the investigation that was becoming more dangerous with every passing hour.
When they arrived at the location, they found chaos. The witness had been found, but he was dead—murdered before he could speak. The message was clear: someone was willing to kill to keep the truth hidden.
Jiya’s stomach twisted as she knelt beside the body, examining the scene. Parth was standing nearby, his jaw clenched in frustration.
“We’re running out of time,” Parth said, his voice tense. “Whoever’s behind this knows we’re getting closer to the truth. We need to find out who’s pulling the strings.”
Jiya nodded, but the knot in her stomach only tightened. We’re not just chasing a killer anymore. We’re up against a powerful network that will stop at nothing to protect their secrets.
The next day, as they sifted through the latest evidence, Jiya’s thoughts kept drifting back to the night before. To Parth’s confession. It had shaken her, but it also brought clarity. She had never stopped caring for him, either. But there were too many complications—her engagement to Rajat, the pressure of the case, the dangers they were facing.
Parth had been her first love, the one person who had understood her completely. But she had made a commitment to Rajat, and she couldn’t just walk away from that—no matter how conflicted she felt.
Still, the temptation to reach for Parth, to allow herself to be vulnerable again, lingered. The old flame between them was still burning, even if it was buried beneath years of pain and regret.
Jiya had just picked up another piece of evidence when her phone buzzed again.
It was a message from Rajat.
“We need to talk. Meet me tonight. I need you to trust me.”
The words chilled her to the bone. She had been wrestling with doubts about Rajat for days, but this? The timing was too perfect.
Trust him? Jiya’s mind raced. How could she trust someone who had been lying to her for so long?
But she had to see him, to confront him about his connection to the case. The truth needed to come out—no more hiding.
That night, Jiya met Rajat at a secluded café, her heart pounding in her chest. Rajat was waiting for her, his face smooth and unreadable. The man she had once trusted seemed so different now—there was something cold about him, something calculating.
“Jiya, I know you’ve been investigating the case,” Rajat began, his voice steady but his eyes dark with warning. “I’ve told you before, stay out of it. This is dangerous.”
Jiya’s pulse quickened. “What’s your connection to Judge Saxena? To all of this? You can’t keep pretending nothing’s wrong.”
Rajat’s smile was tight, a flicker of irritation crossing his features. “You’re reading too much into this. There’s nothing to worry about.”
But Jiya wasn’t convinced. She pressed further, her voice firm. “I’m not blind, Rajat. I know something’s off. You’ve been lying to me.”
Rajat’s eyes darkened, and for a moment, Jiya could see the mask slip. “You’re being paranoid, Jiya. I’m the only one you can trust.”
His words were smooth, but there was a sinister undertone. Jiya felt a chill run down her spine.
But before she could respond, he stood up, his demeanor changing completely. “You need to stop this investigation. For your own good.”
Jiya’s mind raced as she realized the truth. Rajat was trying to gaslight her into believing he was her only ally. He was trying to control her.
With one last, cold look, Rajat turned and walked out, leaving Jiya alone in the café.
Her heart was racing. He’s lying. He’s been lying to me the whole time.
Meanwhile, Parth was back at the office, his thoughts heavy with the realization that the investigation had taken a dangerous turn. The deeper they went, the more dangerous the people involved became.
And now, the stakes were higher than ever.
The investigation led them to a powerful politician, someone with connections to both the judge and Rajat. This was no longer just a murder case. It was a fight for survival.
The web of deceit was tightening, and Parth knew there was no going back. But with Jiya caught in the middle, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread. They were closer to the truth—but at what cost?
