Chapter 1

After a few months, I heard that there was a haunted classroom in the school building that was mostly active at night, so I thought I would go ahead and check it out. When I got there, the room door was shut and when I walked in, there wasn't anything in particular that seemed out of order people wise. I walked around the room a bit and saw a small game counsel on the ground so I knelt down to look at it.

"What are you doing?" I heard a voice asked and I looked to see a boy about my height with purple hair covering one of his eyes and he wore a pretty simplistic outfit. White short sleeved t-shirt with light purple sleeves and jeans that rolled up at the ends with shoes.

I immediately stood up straight and put my hands up nervously. "S-Sorry! I just kinda thought I'd try be out on a midnight stroll. . ."

"All the way here at the school?" He asked, suspiciously and I sweat-dropped at myself.

He has a point. . .my house is quite a bit of a walk from here. . . I thought to myself. When I thought that, he began walking up to me for a bit and then sat down in front of his game console.

"You should head back home now, if you don't need anything." He said and I nodded quickly.

"Right. . ." I said, walking towards the room door and I saw his screen for a moment and saw he was looking around for something in the game and I recognized the part as I smiled a bit. "Try looking around in the drawer in the boss' office. A key should be there with a note." I said and he looked at me for a moment before I left the room.

I was confused for a moment at what she mentioned and I looked back at my game. I did as she mentioned and went to the boss' office and into the drawer of his desk to find a key and a note. I was a bit surprised that she would know about this though, and I continued the game.

"She's a strange one. . ." I said with a small smile as I thought about her for a moment while playing the game.

Tsumi

I went to the restaurant Chiho worked at and she was cooking right now, so I didn't want to bother her for now. "Tsu!" Chiho called someone had apparently taken her spot for now while she came out to the dining room and at me. "You came!" She exclaimed and I smiled a bit.

"Yeah, sorry. I wanted to come by for some lunch anyway." I said with a smile and she gave a pout. "What's wrong, Chi-Chi?"

"Why don't you come to school anymore? You just up and left school like you were expelled without causing trouble last month."

"Uh, yeah, about that. It's a long story." I said, rubbing the back of my neck. Chiho seemed a bit irked.

"How is it a long story?! You always try to do this, Tsu!" I was a bit surprised at what she said and she was starting to cry a bit.

"Chi-Chi?" I asked and she stared at the ground.

"I've been worried sick since last month started. You've been hanging out with Itsuki a lot and hardly spoke with me anymore at school. I was getting worried and once a week passed, you stopped being around Itsuki as well for a long time. I thought you just stayed home in case it was going to storm like you always do, but even on days with clear skies, you didn't come back! So I thought you didn't want to be friends anymore. . ." Chiho said and I felt bad for having put Chiho through a lot, but I smiled at her.

"Chi-Chi, I did quit school, but it wasn't because of you. I had actually decided to move houses from my parents recently and I had to quit school so I could try to put a little care into my house. And try to focus on a job." I said and Chiho was now confused for a moment.

"And what about Itsuki? Are you still hanging around with him?"

"We got off on a mutual friendship." I lied with a small smile.

"A mutual friendship? That's okay then!" She said with a grin. I quietly sighed in relief that she wouldn't dwell in on it.

I smiled at her as she suddenly hugged me, which caught me a bit off-guard, but I smiled and hugged her back.

After having some lunch, I gave my new address Chiho so I can meet her new coworker, Mr. Maou, later on. When I got home, I went about changing my clothes to my everyday crafting clothes when it came to paper mache and I tied my hair up into a braid and kept the braid to my back. I also wore a white apron that had some paint on it from me painting my paper mache materials. When I finished doing a layer, I put my hands into the mixture and made sure to coat the structure everywhere my hands could get while occasionally dunking my hands again every now and then.

I had a room specifically for making my art, so that way I wasn't exactly trailing it everywhere in the house. I had a whole bin in the room for water to clean my hands with as well and the room was covered with tile that was white and black, so it looked like a giant room capable of playing chess in. Lining the walls were shelves with art crafts I finished working on. Of course, I made sure to have them organized. Like paper mache on one shelf set, puppets on another, etc.

I also did origami when I didn't feel like getting too messy with things, so those were definitely on a whole other shelf set. I set the coated paper mache piece on a small table I had crafted specifically for the paper mache and glue drying purposes. Another table was in the room for the painting process. I even had a dry erase board that I used to have crafting requests from people that I should make so it keeps me halfway busy and if I finished one, then I'd work on another. I cleaned off my hands in the bin of water and took the towel off a rack above the bin high enough to not touch the water, but still within reaching space.

A small sewing station was set up in the room as well with fabrics in the closet to use with other supplies to craft with. I dried my hands off and took my apron off, putting it on the hook next to the door. I heard a knock on my door after a little bit and I yelped a bit before I went to the door.

Maou / A Few Seconds Ago

I was with Chiho and we were heading to a house that a friend of hers lived so I could meet them. She said their name was Tsumi and that they just recently moved sometime before I came here with Alciel. "Something wrong, Mr. Maou?" I looked at Chiho.

"Oh, nothing really. It's just that I live in one of the apartments next door." I said, pointing at the stairs on the other side of the wall. Chiho seemed shocked and the door opened to show an eye of a person that was close to Chiho's height.

"Huh? Chi-Chi?"

"Hey, mind if we come in?"

"Oh! Just a second!" The girly voice said and the door shut again before there was a bit of rummaging inside the house for a minute before the door opened to show a girl Chiho's age, with long blonde hair in two ponytails on the sides of her head but towards the back a bit. And her eyes were red, so I got the feeling she might have a chance of being from Ente Isla, somehow.

She wore a white tank top with an asymmetrical jacket and black jeans, but stayed barefoot as people tend to do in their own houses here. "Come on in, you two!" She exclaimed, grinning.

"I think I expected others to live here too." I said, looking around.

Tsumi

"Well, I kinda moved out to be away from others for a while." I said, rubbing the back of my neck while shutting the door. Chiho walked up to me and held my arm.

"We need to talk." Chiho said, looking at Mr. Maou. I looked at her, confused before looking at Maou.

"Go ahead and get comfortable, Mr. Maou. Chi-Chi wants to talk with me about something, so I'll be back!" I said with a smile as I walked to my room with Chiho.

"How can you live next to Mr. Maou?!" She exclaimed as soon as I shut the door and I froze.

"H-Hold on, Chi-Chi! That's what this is about?" I asked and nodded vigorously.

"Of course it is!" I smiled, nervously.

"E-Easy, Chi-Chi. . .I mean, this is kinda irrational unle-" I suddenly caught onto everything quickly. "Oh, I see what this is about." She was confused for a moment.

"Huh?"

"You like Mr. Maou, don't you?" I asked, smiling and her face went dark red.

"I-It's not like that, Tsu!"

"Been there, Chi-Chi. I know it when I see it." I said with a smile and she groaned a bit.

"You don't gotta tease me about it."

"I'm not. If I was, you'd know." I said with a smile. "Honestly, he is kinda cute." Chiho huffed and I could tell she was feeling jealous now.

"Don't say stuff like that!"

I giggled. "He's not my type though, Chi-Chi." I smiled at her and she froze.

"I'm sorry. . ." She said and I laughed a bit.

"It's alright, Chi-Chi." I said and she looked at me. "Though," I stared at the ground with a serious look. "Something tells me that I need to avoid Maou, but I don't know what's with it. . ." I clenched my clothes over my chest and Chiho seemed confused.

"Hm? But Mr. Maou's a nice guy. . ."

"And I understand that, Chi-Chi, but I guess it just feels. . .instinctual? I don't understand it myself though. . ." I said, and I shook off the feeling of what I was getting. "Anyway, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about." I said and grinned at Chiho. "Now, let's go get back to Maou." I said with a smile. She nodded with a smile and I walked with her back to Maou in the living room who looked at us as we came out.

"Hey. About time you two came out."

"Sorry, Mr. Maou." Chiho said and I smiled a bit.

"Chi-Chi, you don't have to apologize to him about that." I said, smiling at her nervously.

"I'm doing it anyway, Tsu."

I chuckled a bit and Maou smiled. "This mean you're Tsumi then?" Maou asked and I nodded.

"Yup!" I exclaimed and he grinned at me.

"Nice to meet ya. I'm Sadao Maou."

"Tsumi Yukimura."

"Have you checked with the restaurant about getting the job there?"

"Well, not really, honestly." I said, nervously.

"You didn't?" Chiho asked and I rubbed the back of my neck a bit.

"Sorry, but I've been kinda busy with my own sort of things. . ." I said, smiling a bit and she huffed.

"You said you would though, Tsu!" Chiho exclaimed and I put my hands up a bit in front of me.

"Come on, Chi-Chi, calm down." I said and as I thought, she calmed down. I didn't know why it happened, but apparently if I wanted someone to calm down, they would. It was the strangest thing that happens every day since I was little.

"Just try to focus on checking out an application for it, please, Tsu," Chiho said and I smiled at her.

"I will, Chi-Chi, just maybe later though." I said and after a few minutes of casual talk, Maou and Chiho went home and apparently, Maou was a neighbor of mine, though I never really thought about trying to connect with my neighbors.

I then went back to my art room and went back to work on the paper mache piece, since it really doesn't need very long to dry. I went and grabbed my paints before going about and painting the base coat onto the paper mache, which was usually one of the black and white monochrome kind of colors.

I finished the base coat cover and let it dry, so I went to my room again after putting my apron away. When I went out to do a bit of grocery shopping, I suddenly heard wind behind me and I looked to see the boy from before and I was a bit surprised. "Hey. Thought I'd like to talk to ya for a little while if that's alright." He said and I was curious so I smiled at him.

"Alright," I said and we started walking side by side as I headed to the grocery store. "So, what'd you wanna talk about?"

"What's your name?" He asked and I then remembered that I didn't tell him my name at the school, so I chuckled a bit nervously.

"Oh, it's Tsumi Yukimura." I said, happily and he smiled.

"Tsumi, huh? Name's Hanzo Urushihara." He said and I guess it felt better knowing his name rather than not.

"I think that name was partly from a character in a game I know." I said smiling and his cheeks turned a bit pink.

"They're common names from what I heard though, aren't they?!" He exclaimed and I giggled a bit.

"I was kidding around a bit, Urushi." I said and he looked away from me. I think I actually found it cute he reacted that way.

"Tsumi!" I heard an all-too-familiar voice that I had rather jumped over the side of a rooftop building than to hear.
