Chapter 1 -×- Generic Exposition
A/n - Okay, so real quick, most of the story is probably going to be from y/n's POV, but I might have to change it every now and then to get the point across. I'll let ya know if it changes.
Also, bold is the Squip talking
Bold italics is the Squip's thoughts
And italics is y/n's thoughts
[A/ns in the middle of the story will be bolded in brackets]

I slowly opened my eyes as I heard the soft beginning to the Thomas the Train theme play out of my phone's speakers. I stared at the ceiling for a moment before immediately jerking up out of bed when the Thomas theme went full earrape.
"Jesus christ. Why do I do this to myself every morning?" I asked myself as I quickly turned off my alarm.
I know why I do this actually. It's because I won't pull myself out of bed every morning unless I shock myself awake. I groaned tiredly as I crawled out of bed and got dressed. Monday. This is great!
Incase the sarcasm went over your head, this is, in fact, not great.
As I walked out of my room and down the hall, I heard my brother's voice through the door to his room. My brother's name is Jeremy, and, well, I don't think I really need to say any more because you know who he is. I was going to keep walking, but he sounded frustrated.
"C-c-c-come on! Go!" He yelled quietly.
Wondering what was up, I opened his door and looked in. He looked up quickly.
"Hey, Jer--" I noticed that his pants were unzipped, and I promptly turned around and left. I should've known.
I continued down the hall and into the kitchen where I saw dad. He was, of course, not wearing pants. Yeah, I'm pretty much used to seeing dude parts in this family.
"Morning, dad," I said, avoiding eye contact with him and focusing on the cereal I was pouring.
"Good morning, y/n," he responded. I pretty much just ignore the fact that he doesn't wear pants. It's just easier. Jeremy on the other hand--
"Daaaaaaaaad! Can you please wear pants?" Jeremy exclaimed, exasperated. Speak of the devil.
"We're a family. Families tolerate each other no matter what." Dad responded. Yeah, my tolerance is pretty high, but Jeremy? Not so much.
"Yeah, well sometimes families don't wanna look at each other's--" Jeremy caught my gaze and stopped himself. "Nevermind."
As he joined me at the table, Jeremy opened his mouth, probably to apologize for earlier, but I stopped him.
"Bro, you gotta stop watching," I glanced at dad and lowered my voice. "That stuff." I finished.
Jeremy also glanced at dad before responding, "Right, like you don't read fanfics for the same reason."
"You know what? Shut up."
Jeremy chuckled, and we ate the rest of our breakfast in relative quiet with some small conversation.
"You ready to go?" Jeremy asked after we brought our bowls to the sink.
"No, but I guess I'm supposed to be?" I really don't like school.
"Yeah, same, but come on," we grabbed our backpacks and headed to the door.
As I stepped outside, I heard Jeremy say something to dad about having pants on when we get home, but we all know that he won't. On the way to the bus stop, I could see that Jeremy was becoming visibly nervous.
"Yo, you good there? Your face is getting all red again."
"O-oh, yeah. I'm fine." This was probably a lie. I gave him the 'don't bs me look,' and he sighed.
"It's just, if I ride the bus, I'll look lame. It's fine if you ride the bus because you're still a sophomore, but I'm a junior, and juniors don't ride the bus, but if I walk, then I'll be all sweaty and gross, and that's just worse, and--"
"Bro, chill," I cut him off the same way I always do when he gets like this. "That's stupid, juniors not taking the bus."
"I know, but society wants--"
"Fricken forget society and ride the bus with me!" I shouted a bit louder than I wanted to. I looked around to see if anyone had noticed, but luckily nobody seemed to realize we existed.
Actually, it's not so lucky. You know, I'd probably enjoy school a bit if I actually had someone to talk to, but nobody ever even looks at me unless I make a mistake. That's why it's nice to have a brother. I'm not totally alone in this world as long as I've got him.
"Okay, I'll take the bus," Jeremy tried to act like he wasn't doing it for me, but I can tell he pities me. It's still nice though.
The bus pulled up to the curb, and we climbed on. And, yup, Jeremy was the only upperclassman on that bus. And after a long, quiet bus ride--well, Jeremy and I were quiet--we arrived at our dreaded destination: Middleborough High.
Climbing off the bus, we gave each other a look of mutual discontent as we made our way to the doors. Pushing through said doors, we were met with a rather horrifying swarm of hormones and, well, more hormones. I froze for a moment before forcing myself to enter the school.
Unfortunately, this is where my brother and I split ways, so with a wave and a sympathetic smile, he was gone.
As I made my way to my locker, I saw Rich Goranski eyeing me from a distance which understandably made me very uncomfortable. I quickly got what I needed from my locker and rushed off to class.

After four hours of social terror, we were finally released for lunch [when autocorrect wants you to be released for 'linch'. Teacher: all right, kids. It's time for lynch mob! . . . I'm sorry.]. Lunch is usually my favorite time of the day because I put in my earbuds and tune out the world with whichever musical I feel like listening to that day. Unfortunately, I forgot my earbuds at home today, so I decided to go hunt down Jeremy and eat with him.
When I found Jeremy, he was with his best friend Michael. Michael's pretty cool. He's always nice to me, and he let's me play his old Pac-Man machine every now and then. When I approached them, I saw they were holding their backpacks next to each other, and each had something written across it. As I got closer, I saw it said 'BOYF' and 'RIENDS', and I burst out laughing. I couldn't help it! It was funny!
They both looked up and seemed a bit relieved when they saw it was only me.
"Oh, hey, y/n," Michael said.
"Yo," I replied shooting him a finger gun, and I couldn't help but add, "I totally ship it."
"Y/N!" Jeremy yelled. Michael just stared at the floor and blushed . . . Oh. OH! WAIT A MINU--
"I wrote Christine a letter telling her how I feel," Jeremy said.
"That's progress!" Michael said, though I felt like his smile was forced. Oof.
"Wow, I'm proud of you, bro," I added in.
"Yeah, I, um, tore it up . . . And then I flushed it . . ." Jeremy looked at the floor.
"I take back everything I ever said about being proud of you," I said. "Hey, can I eat with you guys today?"
"Sure, y/n," Michael responded while Jeremy muttered something about 'it's still progress'.
"Hey, don't worry, dude. This program I saw on the Discovery Channel said that humanity has stopped evolving, so you're good," Michael said like it made sense.
"Nice," I laughed while Jeremy just looked befuddled.
"What I'm trying to say is that you don't have to be 'Cool'. You can just get stoned with me in my basement!" Michael continued.
"Or you could not," I stated.
"Sign up for the play," Jeremy spoke at the same time as me.
"Wait, what?"
"Look! Christine's signing up for the play!" Jeremy exclaimed with this adorable love-struck look on his face. Michael's face? One word: pain.
I gave Michael a sympathetic look causing him to blush. I turned back to Jeremy only to find the space he had just occupied empty. I looked around and saw him looking at the sign-up sheet for the after-school play. I cringed as he grabbed the pen and wrote his name.
"GAAAAAAY!" Someone shouted, and the whole hallway erupted with laughter. It pained me to see such a mortified look on my brother's face. He ran off somewhere, and I didn't see him for the rest of lunch, or the rest of the day for that matter.
I continued on with the rest of my day, and thankfully, nothing much happened. On my way home from school, I couldn't help but think about what had happened at lunch. If Jeremy pities me, then I pity him, too. All he wants is to be Cool.
When I arrived back home, dad still didn't have pants on which isn't particularly surprising. After giving him a short greeting, I went to my bedroom to catch up on the music I'd missed out on at lunch. I stared at the ceiling while listening to [musical that isn't bmc], and I slowly drifted off to sleep.

Wow, I actually completed that.
Um, feedback would be appreciated.
I'm already working on the next chapter, and I'll try to finish it as soon as I can. I've already got the plot worked out, so I know what's gonna come next.
