Chapter 1: Morning Are So Ugh
PoV: Virgo
I woke up to the morning birds singing and the sun's rays dancing through my curtains. I groaned. Stupid morning birds. Is sleeping-in so much to ask for? I got up, grumbled, picked up a stone that was in my sandal, and threw it through the window at the nearest bird. The birds flew off. I walked over to my closet and pulled out the same old white lacy dress. " I wonder what would happen if I got a cranberry juice stain on this and pretended to be dead? Might make things a bit more interesting here." I mumbled to myself. " Meh, I have better things to do with my time and that's a lot of work." I put my white lacy dress on, trying to not struggle too my with my wings, and was putting my thick Islander hair up in a bun when the announcer's trumpet echoed through the living house halls. I rolled my eyes. I'll get there eventually I thought, rolling my eyes.
I slowly shuffled into the Ceremonial room. The room was tall and circular, with white columns outlining it. I was mt best friend Libra and made my way through the crowd. " Hey sleepyhead, you're late," Libra whispered to me. " Sorry I was late, I didn't want to be here, sorry, not sorry," I remarked back at him. He laughed," Typical Virgo," I rolled my eyes.
We turned out attention back to the stage in the middle of the room. " We have gotten a special invitation from the Demons, they have offered a special way to keep the peace for now and years to come. They have an older, abandoned palace that they recently discovered. They are fixing it up, and have decided to have seven Angels selected by them to come to that academy. We will choose seven Demons to join them. They have already made their decision as to who shall come. If you get a letter on a black piece of paper written in blood-" we all shivered at that, Demons could be so gross at times,"- then you have been accepted. This opportunity has only been open for those 17 through 19. If you are chosen more will be explained later. May the odds be with you." With that said we were all dismissed.
Later in the day, we flew over to our favorite parts of the Heavens, the cliffs that overlook Hell. I loved how the hot air pushed you up when you flew over them, and the faint glow of the fires was beautiful as well. Libra interrupted my thoughts," You never really get used to the screaming do you?" I scoffed," Well of course you don't. I mean who would?" I let the hot air push me up, knowing the Libra was only a couple yards above me and smashed into him. " In the name of all things fluffy, what was that for?!" I laughed at his response.
Suddenly I was a shape fly past us. I flew after it, ignoring Libra's protests. I eventually caught up to it. I grabbed its wing and dragged it into a nearby cave. When I let go I asked," Who are you? Why are you here?" Other Angels weren't allowed near these cliffs, but Libra and I both gained enough trust from the higher Angels to come here. " Answer my question!" I shouted at the Angel stood up. She opened her mouth when someone else came from farther inside the cave. "Sagittarius, who are they?" Sagittarius turned around made a couple of hand gestures for the boy to stay away, but it was too late. Libra had already seen him," What is a Demon like yourself doing so close to Heaven?" The boy walked out into the light.
He had tanned skin, black hair but in the light, it turned into a bark blue, his eyes were like the deepest part of the ocean, his wings were leathery and a lightish blue, and his horns stuck out from the side of his head and came up. Looking at him compared to other demons I had seen in pictures, he wasn't too bad to look at.
He spoke up," I could ask the same for you Angels, this cave is Half Waypoint. This is where Angels are often sent to us they are to be punished. So what are three Angels doing this close to Hell?" He raised an eyebrow. I wasn't in the best mood today, but I never was. So I snapped," But if this cave is for punished Angels, you still haven't explained why you are here." Libra looked like he was freaking out, he didn't like to be put into confrontational positions like this. Sagittarius looked like she was about to faint. The Demon looked... refreshed to be in an argument. " Pisces, watch what you say," Sagittarius warned. "Why should he? He doesn't know you, well he shouldn't at least. Does he?" The two looked at each other and nodded their heads. Libra finally stopped freaking out enough to get a few shaky words out," Why do you guys know each other?" Pisces stepped up," It's nothing harmful. She will come down here sometimes and she'll tell me what Heaven's like and I'll paint it. I can show you the paintings as proof we're not lying."
He went farther into the cave and came back with a canvas in his hand. He showed them to us. Libra, who was a fan of art, said," These are incredible, where did you learn? Can you teach me?" I scoffed, they were beautiful," No he cannot teach you, Libra. We won't say anything, but wouldn't you guys be a bit more careful?" Sagittarius' face lit up," that's because I wanted to tell him how I had gotten a letter for the Academy, and I wanted to ask if he did too. Mine also had a list saying who got in. What are your names?" I looked over at Libra, he was practically jumping at the thought of going to the Academy. He was very enthusiastic about helping to ensure peace through our lands," My name is Libra and hers is Virgo." I tried to do a friendly smile, but I probably made my resting b-face worse. Libra ran over to Sagittarius to look over her shoulder at the list. He threw his fist into the air," We both got in!" He ran over to me to show me. I did a sarcastic," Yay..." This would mean the I would have to help ensure peace, and that wasn't really my thing. I was a perfectionist, and I was also kind of a biotch at times.
Sagittarius turned over to face Pisces," Did you get in?" He nodded his head in excitement. Sagittarius jumped up. " We should all get back to where we're supposed to be before we get into trouble." I nodded my head, waved goodbye, and flew off.
"Let's go get our letters!" Libra proposed. I wasn't too excited about having to meet new people and "ensure peace". I rolled my eyes," Yeah, let's go get them..." I yawned at the last part. I stayed up late watching some Demons try to get up here. It was funny to watch them get caught. I landed on my room's balcony. My dress flew up as I landed. I sighed. These dresses were not pleasant to wear. At. All. I had tanned Islander skin, thick black hair, and white feathery wings and halo. The dress didn't help one bit. I think I would've liked Hell a bit more, you can have more fun and wear whatever you wanted.
We walked over to our mailboxes, that were right next to each other. Libra was my neighbor, that's how I met him. He had just moved ver to the empty room next to mine. He knocked on my door wanting to meet his new neighbor. When I opened the door he held out his hand and introduced himself. I grunted my name and closed the door in his face. I never shook his hand and that became a joke of sorts to us. I will admit, it wasn't my most graceful moments.
We both pulled out black slips of paper and went into my room. I opened mine and read it aloud.
Dear Virgo Sariel,
You have been chosen to go to the Academy with six other angels. There you will learn how to keep peace alongside Demons. You will train to be an Ambassador. All will be explained at the meeting.
With no love at all,
Headmaster Dameon.
I looked for a list of students that would be going, but couldn't find it. I guess just Sagittarius' letter had it. I looked over at Libra's brunet head. He looked up," Well that didn't explain very much. Ready to make some friends?" I shrugged," I wouldn't say friends more like incompetent little dweebs."
I hope you liked the first chapter. If the zodiacs don't really seem like how a zodiac should act, that's because I based them off of people I know. I'm excited to work on Virgo a little more. She's gonna be fun to write about. I hope everyone is staying safe.
