A/N: I'm supposed to be sleeping right now. But, I wrote one quick, short chapter for you guys because I felt awful for leaving it on a cliffhanger. It's pretty short, but the next one will come soon. So here it is!

After standing there for a few seconds, Fitz's shield began to crack. He realized he wouldn't manage much longer outside where the broken memories roamed free. So he had only one option- to go in. And the closest door to him was the one with his name on it.

"I shouldn't go in it," he thought. "It isn't my business."

"Yeah but it's about you," his mind argued. "So of course it's your business."

"If Sophie wanted to tell me something about me, she would have already told me," he tried to reason.

The water began rising as one panicked thought prevailed over them all. "If you don't go in right now, you have no chance of healing her."

So he went in.

The first thing Fitz noticed was the prevalence of positive emotions. Every single memory associated with him was positive. Even when he was so mean to Sophie when his dad's mind broke or when he hid the Black Swan's location from her, she was only mildly annoyed or hurt. She always found something positive about him.

Below the positive emotions, every memory had its own depth. And as he watched each one, a common thought prevailed. His eyes.

They were described in every way possible. Beautiful. Teal. Mesmerizing. And besides his eyes, it was his hair and smile. "You don't realize how much people notice about you until you see it from their perspective," Fitz thought.

As he went deeper, each memory became more and more detailed. He felt like an outsider watching a movie rather than looking at Sophie's memories. Only when the emotions started becoming stronger did her realize he was invading her privacy.

But he had no choice. He was still exhausted from fighting the negative emotions and he couldn't go out. So he plunged in.

After looking at the previous memories, Fitz already knew that Sophie thought he was handsome. She thought it every time she looked at him. But this... He wasn't expecting this.

Her heart fluttered every time she talked to him. She trusted him more than anyone else. She thought he was perfect in every way. And when they were doing the Cognate training, she was afraid to reveal that...

"She has a crush on me," Fitz realized, collapsing to the ground. "How could I be so oblivious?"

Now he understood why it depended on how he felt. It did depend on how he felt. And the problem was, he didn't know how he felt.

As he walked through more of the memories, he saw that the smallest things he said would hurt her. When he said that she was just like a sister or a friend to him. Every time he compared her to Biana. Watching the memories from her perspective, he felt like smacking himself in the forehead for his obliviousness.

He stared back at the path he had come from. Taking a deep breath. He walked back to the door and poised his hand to open it. No matter how awkward it would be after she woke up, she deserved to be fixed. And, truth be told, he missed her.

He stepped out the door and walked to the nook. He entered the room and began transmitting.

Sophie. It's me, Fitz. I'm here to fix you.

He walked down the narrow room, transmitting the words over and over again.

What happened to Keefe... It's not your fault. You couldn't have prevented it.

No response.

We can get him back. And I'll be by your side the whole time.

In that moment, Fitz made his decision. The reason he was trying so hard and fighting so much wasn't just because Sophie was his friend. It was because she was more than that. Way more than that.

I love you, Sophie Foster. And I couldn't live without you. Please come back.

Something stirred in the back of her mind. Suddenly, the voice he was yearning for filled his head.

I'm back.

A/N: Oh that was so sweet! I tried to ease into it, because Fitz won't suddenly just fall in love with her after all the previous books. But he's getting there, and who knows? Maybe it'll happen in book five! Hope you liked the chapter and to all the people who live near me- good night!
