Annabeth's P.O.V

I am lead to a small room for me to stay in.

Yay?

I want to go to the home that I've lived in for the last year.

I go and change, not wanting to talk to anyone, and sleep.

I wake up at about 10 am. Good, I guess.

I can tell that James has gone.

I walk to the kitchen.

Everyone is standing around a table, looking worried.

"We can bust arms dealers all the live long day, but, that up there? That's...that's the end game. How were you guys planning on beating that?" Tony asks

"Together." Steve says

"We'll lose." Tony frowns

"Then we'll do that together, too." Steve says Tony looks at him and then turns away "Thor's right. Ultron's calling us out. And I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The world's a big place. Let's start making it smaller."

"Who's Ultron?" I ask

"Uh, an AI I created with Bruce?" Tony asks

"Uh huh" I say, not beliving a word that they say. "Sounds like a big deal if Steve wants to find him before he finds you guys."

They exchange glances.

"Why don't you, erm, head back to your farm? We'll get you once this, um, blows over?" An African American man says.

"Who are you and how do you know me?" I growl.

"James Rodes, Ma'am. Just call me Rodey. Tony told me about... you two. It would be safer for you to stay at the farm." Rodey says

"And miss out on all the fun?" I ask sarcastically. "These idiots are like my family, I can't have the deal with this alone."

"Your just a kid." He says.

"Toy, who is this?" A woman asks

"Maria, Helen, meet Annabeth. Annabeth, Maria, Helen. She's our resident owl, and the reason that 2 of the floors were off limits to the partiers." Tony say

"Owl?" Helene asks

I smile shyly and transform. It's painful but worth it

Okay, I won't lie, I kind of liked the shocked scream that came from the three newbies.

I turn back and look around.

"I could, potentially, be the secret weapon. I am not 'just a kid', as you put it, I have been through HYDRA and came out the other side a farmer and an orphan. I take care of myself." I say, glaring. "And if you've got a problem with that, ask the poor shmucks from S.H.E.I.D who can't think properly. Best team of normal agents, I believe? After tearing a part their minds, I came to the conclusion that they are in an intensive care unit." I say. Nat, Maria and Clint look shocked.

"That was you!?" Nat asks. Bruce smiles at me. Clint gets a phone call and walks out.

Maria walks out with a sigh.

When she comes back in, her face is stony.

"He's all over the globe. Robotics labs, weapons facilities, jet propulsion labs, reports of a metal man, or men, coming in and emptying the place." She says

" Fatalities?" I ask

"Only when engaged. Mostly guys left in a fugue state going on about old memories, worst fears, and something too fast to see." She says.

"Maximoffs. Well, that makes sense he'd go to them, they have someone in common." Steve says. I frown. 

"Who-"

"Not anymore" Maria says, handing him a tablet.

Steve walks out. 

"Who?" I ask again.

"Two enhanced. Both like you." Maria nods.

Steve comes back in.

"Girlfriend" Clint says.

Steve shows us a picture of a man lying on the ground, PEACE written on the wall

"What's this?" I ask, horrified.

" A message. Ultron killed Strucker." Steve says.

"And he did a Banksy at the crime scene, just for us." Tony says. I feel horrified, how could they be so calm?

"This is a smokescreen. Why send a message when you've just given a speech?" Natasha asks

"Strucker knew something that Ultron wanted us to miss." Steve says to her

"Yeah, I bet he..." She looks at the computer monitor that she's been sitting at"Yep. Everything we had on Strucker has been erased." She confirms

"Not everything" Tony says, dropping a pile of papers on the table. I pick up a file.

"Known associates. Well, Strucker had a lot of friends." Steve says

"Well, these people are all horrible." Bruce says. I recoil a bit.

"Wait. I know that guy." Tony says, pointing at the picture Bruce is holding. Bruce passes it to him.  "From back in the day. He operates off the African coast, black market arms." Steve looks at him with a 'you deel with criminals' look that makes me feel even more guilty "There are conventions, alright? You meet people, I didn't sell him anything." We look at a photo with a white male on it. The file says 'Ulysses Klaue' on it. "He was talking about finding something new, a game changer, it was all very 'Ahab.'" Tony says.

Thor points to the scar on the back of Klaue's neck "This" He says

"Uh, it's a tattoo. I don't think he had it..." Tony says quietly

"No, those are tattoos, this is a brand." Thor says. I look at him, shocked. My wings quickly come out.

Its a reflex, don't judge me.

Bruce looks at a computer

"Oh, yeah. It's a word in an African dialect meaning thief, in a much less friendly way." He says

"What dialect?" I ask, interested.

"Wakanada...? Wa...Wa...Wakanda." He says

" If this guy got out of Wakanda with some of their trade goods..." Tony says, frowning.

"I thought your father said he got the last of it?" Steve asks

"I don't follow. What comes out of Wakanda?" Bruce asks, but he looks at Steve's shield. I get a feeling...

"The strongest metal on earth." Tony says

Feeling was correct.

" Where is this guy now?" I ask

We get on a plane and fly out. Well, the others do. Me, Thor and Tony fly outside. I hover in the air above a boat. I quickly turn into an owl and glide in with Tony.

"It's a thing with me. Stark is, he's a sickness!" A metal man says, frightening me

"Ahh, Junior." Tony says, with Steve and Thor behind him. I glide onto his shoulder, giving the two humans with mister robot a shock "You're gonna break your old man's heart."

"If I have to" The metal man says

"We don't have to break anything." Thor says

"Clearly you've never made an omelet." The robot says, making me laugh. It sound strange, coming out of a bird.

"He beat me by one second." Tony says. The boy looks at me

"Ah, this is funny, Mr. Stark. It's what, comfortable? Like old times? Still using the innocent to do your work." He says

"This was never my life." Tony says, shaking his head.

"You two can still walk away from this." Steve says to the kids.

"Oh, we will." The girl says. They have the same funny accents.

"I know you've suffered." Steve says, trying to have them come to our side.

"Uuughh! Captain America." The robot snarls impatiently "God's righteous man, pretending you could live without a war. I can't physically throw up in my mouth, but..."

"If you believe in peace, then let us keep it." Thor asks

"I think you're confusing peace with quiet." The robot says.

"Yuh-huh. What's the Vibranium for?" Tony asks

"I'm glad you asked that, because I wanted to take this time to explain my evil plan!" the robot says. Suddenly, iron man suits attack us. I fly upwards, trying to get out of the fight. Tony attacks the robot. The two kids attack us to.

"Shoot them!" A man yells

"Which ones?" A thug yells back

"All of them!" The man yells back

"Move, move, move!" The thug yells. The team, now with Nat and Clint upgrades, battle with the thugs and the suits. Steve knocks the boy to the ground.

"Stay down, kid!" He says.

I fly onto the boy, who can run extremely fast, which is cool. I who at him. He picks me up and places me besides him, before running off. I fly over to the robot, who is with the girl.

"It's time for some mind games" The robot says to the girl.

"Guys, is this a Code Green?" Bruce asks through the coms. I fly silently behind the robot man.

"Thor! Status?" Steve asks

"The girl tried to wa" Thor says before going silent. I go away from the robot and try to find him.

"Whoever's standing, we gotta move! Guys?" Clint asks through the coms

"What can I do?" The boy asks. I stop flying and go down to him.

"Ah, it hurts." The girl says. Clint must have shot her with one of his fun arrows.

"I'm gonna kill him. I'll be right back." The boy says. I who in alarm.

"No. I'm over it. I want...I want to finish the plan." She looks to were the Quinjet is. With Bruce! "I want the big one." She says

Bruce!

He picks her up and runs off. I focus on find the others.

"Natasha, I could really use a lullaby." Tony says. I frown.

Oh shit, Bruce!

The 'lulaby' must be her calming him down.

I'm so smart.

"Well, that's not gonna happen. Not for a while. The whole team is down, you got no back up here." Clint says. I fly over to them. I land on his shoulder and who quietly.

I help Clint take everyone to the jet, turning back to human and carrying them. They wake up and we wait for Tony to bring back Bruce.

"The news is loving you guys. Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest, but it's in the air." Maria says once everyone is in the plane. I sit quietly in the back, next to Bruce. I pat his back.

"Stark Relief Foundation?" Tony asks

"Already on the scene. How's the team?" She asks

"Everyone's...we took a hit. We'll shake it off." I say hopefully, getting thankful looks from everyone.

"Well for now I'd stay in stealth mode, and stay away from here." Maria says

"So, run and hide?" Tony asks

"Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer." Maria sighs

"Neither do we." Tony says. He turns off the call. "Hey, you wanna switch out?" He asks Clint, who has been flying this thing.

"No, I'm good. If you wanna get some kip, now's a good time, cause we're still a few hours out." Clint says

"A few hours from where?" Tony asks.

"A safe house" Clint says. My eyes widen as I realise what he's talking about.

We land outside a large farm house.

" What is this place?" Thor asks

" A safe house?" Tony asks as we walk in.

"Let's hope." Clint says "Honey, I'm home!" He yells

A heavily pregnant woman comes in. I look shocked and happy.

"Hi. Company. Sorry I didn't call ahead." Clint apologises.

"Hey." She says. I wave at her. She waves back and kisses Clints cheek

" This is an agent of some kind." Tony mumble to Thor and I. I punch his shoulder

WARNING, I'M GOING TO CHANGE THIS A BIT

" Gentleman, this is Laura." Clint says

"I know all your names. Except you." She points to me.

"Annabeth." I say.

"Ooh, incoming." Clint says.

"Dad!" A little girl says. Clint picks her up.

"I see her!" He kisses the top of her forehead and then his sons "Hey, buddy! How you guys doing? Ooh..."

"These are... smaller agents." Tony desides. I punch his arm.

"Look at your face! Oh, my goodness!" Clint says to the kids.

"Did you bring Auntie Nat?" The little girl asks. I smile

"Why don't you hug her and find out?" Nat asks her. The little girl runs over to Nat, who picks her up and hugs her.

"Sorry for barging in on you."  Steve apologises.

"Yeah, we would have called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed." Tony says. I punch him.

"Yeah, well Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off SHIELD's files, I'd like to keep it that way. I figure it's a good place to lay low." Clint shrugs.

"Honey. Ah, I missed you." Laura says

"How's little Natasha?" Nat asks Laura, looking at the bump.

"She's...Nathaniel." Laura says. Nat leans over the stomach

"Traitor." She mumbles

Thor walk out all of a sudden.

"Thor?" Steve asks

" I saw something in that dream. I need answers, I won't find them here." Thor says. Steve turns

Steve stops suddenly. Laura kisses Clint's cheek. Then she touches his stomach.

" See, you worried for nothing. Can't even feel the difference, can you?" Clint says.

"What?" I ask myself.

"Just before we got you, we had a mission. Clint got hit, Helen made him some new cells and then we got you." Nat mumbles to me.

"Okay." I say

"If they're sleeping here, some of them are gonna have to double up." Laura says. Bruce laughs.

"Yeah, that's not gonna sell." Clint says

"What about Nat and Dr. Banner? How long has that been going on?" Laura asks.

"Has what?" Clint says. I walk outside, to were the boys are chopping wood.

"Thor didn't say where he was going for answers?" Tony asks

" Sometimes my teammates don't tell me things."

"OH BURN TONY!" I yell. They glare at me.

 I walk inside, were Laura and

Fury.

I back away from them, terrified.

"Annabeth?" Laura asks me.

"Yes?" I ask.

"Whats wrong?" She asks

"Fury wants to kill me." I say.

"No. I said that I wanted to give you an environment like this one to live in. My employees said that I'd kill you. Sorry for their ignorance." Fury says. I breath a sigh of relief.

"Oh that god." I say.

"Laura, I'll look after the kids, if you want." I say. "I'm sure they would like to fly."

"What do you mean?" Laura asks

"I have wings." I say.

"Okay. Don't drop them. LILA! COPER!" She yells

The two little ones run up to her

"This is Annabeth. She's got wings and wants to take you to on a flight." Laura says. Their eyes widden and they run up to me.

"Okay kiddos. You have to go one at a time, so one of you will go first, and the other will go second." I say.

"Me first!" Lila yells

"Okay Lila! Coper, wait her so I don't drop her." I say, sitting him on a swing and giving him a push. I pick up Lila and fly her around for five minutes. Then I sit her down and fly Coper for five minutes.

I put the kids in their rooms and go down stairs to where the avengers are seated.

"Ultron took you folks out of play to buy himself time. My contacts all say he's building something. The amount of Vibranium he made off with, I don't think it's just one thing." Fury says.

"What about Ultron himself?" Steve asks.

Ah. The robot man is Ultron.

" Ah. He's easy to track, he's everywhere. Guy's multiplying faster than a Catholic rabbit. Still doesn't help us get an angle on any of his plans though." Fury says. I laugh at his term. Fury gives me a pleased look.

"He still going after launch codes?" Tony asks.

"Yes, he is, but he's not making any headway." Fury says

"I cracked the Pentagon's firewall in high school on a dare." Tony says.

"Your going to jail." I say. Bruce gives me a warning look

"Yeah, well, I contacted our friends at the NEXUS about that." Fury says.

"NEXUS?" Steve asks.

"It's the world internet hub in Oslo, every byte of data flows through there, fastest access on earth." Bruce says

"So what'd they say?" Clint asks

"He's fixated on the missiles, but the codes are constantly being changed." Fury says

" By whom?" Tony asks

"Parties unknown." Fury says

"Do we have an ally?" I ask hopefully.

"Ultron's got an enemy, that's not the same thing. Still, I'd pay folding money to know who it is." Fury says back.

"I might need to visit Oslo, find our 'unknown.'" Tony says

"Well, this is good times, boss, but I was kind of hoping when I saw you, you'd have more than that." Nat says.

" I do, I have you. Back in the day, I had eyes everywhere, ears everywhere else. Here we all are, back on earth, with nothing but our wit, and our will to save the world. So stand. Outwit the platinum bastard." Fury says.

"Steve doesn't like that kind of talk." Nat says quickly.

"You know what, Romanoff?" Steve says, making me laugh.

" So what does he want?" Fury asks quickly.

" To become better. Better than us. He keeps building bodies." Steve says.

"Person bodies. The human form is inefficient, biologically speaking, we're outmoded. But he keeps coming back to it." Tony says. I cring at him

" When you two programmed him to protect the human race, you amazingly failed." Nat said.

"Wait." I say. "What?"

"They don't need to be protected, they need to evolve. Ultron's going to evolve." Bruce says, ignoring me. 

"How?" Fury then looks at me. "She's pretty evolved." He jabs his finger at me.

"Has anyone checked in on Helene Cho?" Bruce asks

"I'll take Annabeth, Natasha and Clint." Steve says.

"Alright, strictly recon. I'll hit the NEXUS, I'll join you as soon as I can." Tony says

"If Ultron is really building a body..." I say

"He'll be more powerful than any of us. Maybe all of us. An android designed by a robot." Tony trails off.

"You know I really miss the days when the weirdest thing science ever created was me." Steve says. I pat his back.

" I'll drop Banner off at the tower. Do you mind if I borrow Ms. Hill?" Fury asks

"She's all yours, apparently. What are you gonna do?" Tony asks

" I don't know. Something dramatic, I hope." Fury says

"I'm gonna finish re-flooring that sunroom as soon as I get back." Clint says to Laura.

"Yeah, and then you'll find another part of the house to tear apart." Laura says, close to tears.

"No. It's the last project. I promise" He says. I hop into the jet and watch them kiss.

We fly off.

"Who were those kids?" I ask

"Pietro and Wanda Maximoff. Twins" Steve says. "Owl or human?"

"Owl seems to get less attention from Ultron, he was the robot, right, but it distracts the twins a lot."

"So, owl?" He asks.

"Yeah." I say.

I turn into a bird and drop in with Steve.

"Two minutes. Stay close." Steve says. I fly with him. "Dr. Cho!" He exclaims

"He's uploading himself into the body." Helen says. I perch near her.

"Where?" Steve asks.

"The real power is inside the Cradle. The gem, its power is uncontainable. You can't just blow it up. You have to get the Cradle to Stark." She says.

" First I have to find it." Steve says.

"Go." She says. I fly as fast as Steve runs, so we make it to the jet quite fast.

"Did you guys copy that?" Steve asks Clint and Nat

"We did." Clint says

"I've got a private jet taking off, across town, no manifest. That could be him." Nat says

"There. It's the truck from the lab. Right above you, Cap. On the loop by the bridge. It's them. I got three with the Cradle, one in the cab. I could take out the driver." Clint says, pointing to a truck.

"Negative! If that truck crashes, the gem could level the city. We need to draw out Ultron." Steve says. He jumps onto the truck and I fly next to him.

"No, no, no, no, no. Leave me alone!" Ultron says, making me laugh.

Just as Steve tries to enter the truck, Ultron blasts the door out, and I narrowly dodge it

"Well, he's definitely unhappy! I'm gonna try and keep him that way." Steve says.

Steve No!

"You're not a match for him, Cap." Clint says, voicing my thoughts.

"Thanks, Barton" Steve tries to get in again, but nearly gets hit and struggles to get back up.

"You know what's in that Cradle? The power to make real change, and that terrifies you." Ultron says. I fly nervously.

"I wouldn't call it a comfort." Steve says. He tries to fight him, but Ultron is to strong. He can't beat him.

"Why do you have an owl with you? Never mind. Stop it!" Ultron yells and throws Steve's shield away.

"They're heading under the overpass, I've got no shot." Clint says to Nat through the coms.

"Which way?" Nat asks

"Hard right... Now." Clint says. I focus on Ultron, but can't help but to worry for my teammate.

We enter a train and Steve continues to fight

"Come on!" Steve says.

"Cap! Keep him occupied! Owl! Find Nat!" Clint yells.

I struggle to find an exit that wont hurt me.

I quickly fly behind Ultron and then leave. I see the truck and fly and top speed to Nat.

I get onto the truck, ready to get Nat out.

"The package is airborne. I have a clean shot." Clint says. I hoot in alarm.

" Negative. I am still in the truck." Nat says.

"What the hell are you...?" Clint asks.

"Just be ready, I'm sending the package to you." Nat says. I frown as well as a bird can.

"How do you want me to take it?" Clint asks.

"Uhh, you might wish you hadn't asked that." Nat says.

Oh no.

Oh no oh no oh no.

"Nat, Annabeth, we gotta go." Clint says.

Nat and I push the cradle out of the door. Well, I push it with my head and eventually try to fly it out. Clint gets it, but Ultron grabs  Nat and I fly down to help her, scratching his face with my talons. He grabs my wing.

Shit.
