o3.| AND I'M STRAINING TO REACH
IF FAWN MISSED ANYTHING, IT WAS HER POWERS. The woman hadn't known anything but herself as a shapeshifter, and she missed it, she missed it more than anything in the entire world. She loved how she would've been able to shift into whatever it was that she desired, even though she preferred to shift herself into animals. Animals had always been easy for her to transform herself into, seeing as it hurt horribly to shift into another being. No one ever knew what it was like to be a shapeshifter, no one ever knew what had happened to her when she had turned into anything. It was simultaneously snapping every single bone in her body in order to take the form of whatever it was she was turning into.
But even as she sat on the floor in her room, she would've rather taken on the pain of shifting into something, than sitting there. She would've rathered been able to be her usual shapeshifter self than to be locked away in a room for, what felt like, was going to be the rest of her life. There were so many things that she would've had to do in order to be allowed out of the room, and she knew that. She knew that there were going to have to be things that she had to do in order to have her freedom back, but there was no escaping what it was that she was going through.
There was no way for her to get out of what she was going through, and everyone knew that. All of the Avengers knew that Fawn's recovery was going to be long and hard, seeing that she had so many pent-up emotions, after everything that she had gone through. With all of the things that she had felt, all of the things that she had gone through, she knew that it was going to take a long time for her to even be in a place that they would consider her being back to her usual self. But she knew that she would never go back to being the same. She would never be the Fawn Galloway that they all knew and cared about. She wasn't going to be that person.
She inhaled deeply as her shoulders relaxed and she tilted her head to the side. The sound of the clock ticking filled her ears and she lifted her eyes over toward the clock, watching as the hands moved with the time. She pressed her lips together as she watched time begin to pass by, and she knew that she was being watched. Fawn knew that the heroes were watching her on the cameras that they had in the room, even if she didn't know exactly where the camera was. She knew that it was there because if there wasn't a camera, there was no use for her to be locked up.
The shapeshifter pushed herself to her feet as she made her way over toward the wall with all of the drawings that her children had made, resting her hand against one of them. Her head tilted to the side as she stared at the image that they created for her, and a sad smile appeared on her lips. There hadn't been any time for her to hang up the others, even though she had nothing but time, but she didn't at the same time. She couldn't find it in herself to hang up the other images until she got to flip through them over, and over, and over again. She wanted to be able to take in everything about the artistry style that her young children had begun to develop, and if she hung them up, she wouldn't have been able to.
Behind her, the alarm went off for the door, and she didn't look over her shoulder to see who was there. Though she had an idea about who it was, and when she turned around to see Charlotte Rogers standing there, she knew that she was right. The blonde-haired woman stared at the shapeshifter, before offering her a kind smile.
"Hi, Fawn," Charlotte spoke to her with a kind smile, and Fawn nodded her head to her.
"Hey," Fawn replied softly, and she watched as Charlotte made her way over toward the bed that Fawn had and took a seat. The woman didn't know if Charlotte wanted her to come to sit by her or not, and by the way that she looked at her, she could tell that that was exactly what she wanted. She made her way over to the bed and took a seat, holding her hands in her lap. "So, what's going on out there? What am I missin'?"
"Well," Charlotte inhaled deeply, pressing her lips together for a few seconds, before looking back to her. "Steve and Scarlett are engaged and planning their wedding, and all of the others are training for missions that Fury is sending them out on." She watched Fawn for a few seconds as she nodded her head, and she rested a hand on her shoulder. "Everyone is thinking of you. I don't think any of us have been able to stop thinking about you."
"How's Margaret?" Fawn questioned her, ignoring what she had said.
But Charlotte smiled at her anyway, "She's doing well. I think she may have a small crush on Ryder, the two of them have been playing a lot. Phoenix has been playing with them as well, but she likes to play on her own."
"And Pietro's funeral?" Fawn questioned, and she could hear Charlotte let out a heavy sigh. "I know that you guys have been told not to tell me anything about Pietro, worried that it'll set me off, but I need to know what is going on. I have to."
"Wanda is working on it, she wants to keep it to Sokovian traditions," Charlotte began to explain, and she watched as a small tear slipped from Fawn's eyes, and that made the woman rest her hand against her cheek. "Hey, hey hey, everything is alright, Fawn. You're going to get through this and you're going to be able to say goodbye."
"I don't know if I want to say goodbye,"
And that was the truth. Fawn wasn't ready to have to say goodbye to the love of her life. There had been so many things that he had gotten her through, and now he was just gone. Because of a vision that Nathaniel Hyde had seen about the man, and she wished that he had never gotten the vision. She wished that he never saw the fate of Pietro Maximoff, and she wished that there was something that she could've done to get him back.
But when people were gone, they were gone. No matter how many second chances that they had.
