14- The Note

A note.

That's all that's in her room.

Except her furniture, of course.

Her backpack is gone.

Almost everything that's on her makeshift vanity-- a broken piece of mirror taped to the wall above her dresser-- is gone, too.

The fairy lights she begged me to help hang up because she couldn't reach the ceiling.

Almost everything that makes this room hers is gone.

All that remains are that gosh darn note and her favorite sparkly purple gel pen.

I hate that stupid note written on a ripped out piece of paper from her notebook. The paper is tinted blue, always with a peacock feather design on top.

Three sentences are written in her effortlessly beautiful handwriting on that piece of peacock paper.

Three sentences I hate so much.

Violet,

I can't take it anymore. I'm breaking out of this place. Don't look for me.

I don't know what to do.

All I've been doing for the past five minutes is staring at the blue paper and reading that note over and over.

"What does it say?" Whisper's voice snaps me out of my weird trance, sending shivers down my spine. I hold out the note in front of him.

"I'll never see the little princess ever again," I mutter. "I don't know what happened to Ghost, but he can't leave me, too." I turn to face Whisper, "We need to find him. Now. Go get Eclipse. I don't care how. Meet back in my room."

It's all just a blur after that.
