Eren Jaeger
The main protagonist of the series who after witnessing his mother being devoured by a Titan, dedicates his life to their eradication. He possesses titan-shifting ability as the "Rogue Titan", which makes him the target of multiple parties that include those who see him as a tool to eradicate the Titans, other humans who can become Titans, and those who perceive Eren as a rebellion-inducing threat to the status quo. Placed into the Survey Corps' Special Operations Squad, he attempts to control his Titan-changing ability and discovers he has other abilities as well.

Mikasa Ackerman
Mikasa is Eren's adopted sister who istaken in by his family.She is a quiet and withdrawn girl and maintains a stoic expression, except when Eren is in danger. She is very protective of Eren, and follows him wherever she can in joining the military and its related divisions and squads.

Armin Arlert
Armin is Eren's childhood friend who joins him in the Scouts. He has an inferiority complex, believing he barely passed the combat graduation exam and whining that he hates being cowardly and having to rely on friends all the time.

Levi Ackerman
He is known as humanity's most powerful soldier and head of an elite squad in the Survey Corps. Hanji remarks that he is a bit of a "clean freak". While it is said that he is blunt and unapproachable, it is noted that he has a strong respect for authority, structure and discipline.

Hange Zöe (known as Hanji too)
Hanji is a squad leader in the Survey Corps and a scientist who studies the Titans. She shows little fear when interacting with them, and is thus ecstatic when initially meeting Eren.

Erwin Smith
The 13th commander of the Survey Corps. Far-thinking, intelligent, respected, Erwin is an able commander, and while he cares deeply for his men, he would not hesitate to sacrifice them for the future of mankind, and his men have proven more than willing to stake their lives at his order.
