Chapter 12
"The look on your face when you came in here was priceless."
Smokescreen opened his eyes and looked down at Zoey who was now breathing with her eyes open. "Zoey! B-But-" he cut off. "Heh, like my trick?" she asked, holding her hand up and a small red orb appeared. The blood that was covering her disappeared, revealing she was actually fine. "W-What? How?!" Smokescreen exclaimed. "I woke up, came to the main room where you guys were, decided to play a prank on you," she replied. Smokescreen's eyes widened. "Oh my Primus, Zoey, you are terrible," he said. "I know," Zoey replied with a smirk. Smokescreen glared at her. "I hate you," he said. Zoey looked at Smokescreen with a smile. "You know you love me," she teased. Smokescreen rolled his eyes. She was impossible. "Hey, could you let me go so I can get up?" she asked. Smokescreen let go of Zoey and she sat up, looking at Smokescreen with a smile. Smokescreen turned away from her. Zoey's smile disappeared as she put a hand on Smokescreen's shoulder. "Listen, I'm sorry. But I'm not sorry about this-" Zoey said. "What?" Smokescreen asked, turning to look at Zoey. He gasped in horror at what she showed him.
Her phone had a picture of Smokescreen's face when he first came into the room.
"And I'm gonna show it to everyone!" she called, running away through the vents. "UGH, ZOEY!" Smokescreen shouted, chasing after her. Her laughter echoed through the vents as she ran away from Smokescreen, who was struggling to keep up due to the fact he was bigger than Zoey. Zoey eventually came to the open vent that she had been spying on the others from while she played her prank. With a smile, she quickly jumped out and silently climbed down the wall. Nobody had seen her yet, so she quickly summoned up the ghost in front of the others. "Sorry, but midnight's passed and your friend is gone," the ghost said. Instantly everyone's optics/eyes grew sad or angry. Zoey smirked as the ghost disappeared and everyone looked at the ground. Zoey was starting to feel bad, but she wanted to play a prank and she was gonna keep it going for as long as possible. Suddenly, Zoey felt herself be lifted up in someone's arms from behind. "WHOA!" she exclaimed, nearly dropping her phone. Smokescreen had caught up to her and had silently crept up behind her while she was distracted. He reached up for the phone, but Zoey held it above her head. She squirmed out of Smokescreen's grasp and ran up the steps to the human area. "Sorry, Smokes! I'm showing this picture to everyone!" she called to the holoform.
Smokescreen chased after her and Zoey quickly formed an orange orb in her hands before jumping off the railing. Surprisingly, she didn't fall. She kinda floated. "Try and catch me now, Smokes!" she laughed as she held up her phone in one hand. Smokescreen's holoform disappeared and he transformed into his robot form. He reached out a servo to grab Zoey, who shrieked in laughter before flying higher. She circled Smokescreen and dodged his servos as he tried to grab her. It looked like a game of keep away, except between a 'Bot almost thirty feet tall and a tiny human. Miko's phone started vibrating and she took out her phone, looking at the text. She burst out laughing afterward. "Thanks for sending me the picture, Zoey!" she called. "No problem!" Zoey replied. "Scrap!" Smokescreen exclaimed. He finally managed to grab Zoey and he brought her closer to his chassis in a hug. Zoey smiled as she hugged Smokescreen back for a moment before being placed back down at the human area.
"Whoa, okay, what happened? The ghost said-" Bulkhead cut off. "Ah! I see you believed my little trick," Zoey said with an evil giggle. The others stared at her. "That isn't funny, Zoey," Jack said. "Oh really? Look at the picture I took of Smokescreen's face when he found me!" she replied, holding out her phone. The others looked at it and they all burst out laughing. Except for Smokescreen and Optimus. Even Ratchet laughed. Ratchet! RATCHET! "That isn't funny. I really thought you were-" Smokescreen cut off. Even thinking about it scared him more than the ghost. "Well you don't need to worry about that ghost 'cause that whole prank was designed by me in about two minutes," Zoey said. "Dang, that's good," Miko said. "Thank you, Miko," Zoey replied. "So how did you fly?" Miko asked. "Oh, another power of mine. I'm able to generate different colored orbs that do different things. The orange one made me fly, a white one is used to repair things, and I used a red one to make it look like I was dead for the prank," Zoey replied. "What about the other colors?" Raf asked. "Don't know. I've only used those three before, and that's when I kinda need them," she replied. The 'Bots and humans raised an eyebrow/optic ridge. "When would you need to look like you're dead?" Arcee asked.
"Ummm, I kinda got jumped by this guy. He kinda maybe not really stabbed me in the side and I had to make it look like I was really injured, that way I'd escape," Zoey replied shyly. "WHAT?!" Smokescreen exclaimed. He immediately looked at Zoey with wide optics. "Hey, calm down! The knife didn't really affect me because I'm a Techno-Organic, but I had to make it look like it actually affected me otherwise he'd get suspicious!" Zoey replied. Smokescreen calmed down the tiniest bit. He was still fuming angry that someone tried to hurt his sweetspark. 'Whoa, where did that come from? She isn't my sweetspark, she's my friend,' Smokescreen thought (suuuuuuuuuure Smokes). "Soooooo, what now?" Miko asked. "Let's play some games," Raf replied. "Sweet! Prepare to lose!" Miko said as she ran up to the couch. Raf, Zoey, and Jack followed. The 'Bots watched them play the games while cheering for who they wanted to win. It was an awesome sleepover.
A few days later, the 'Bots finished telling the children about the Omega Keys. "I may not be the first human on Cybertron, but I can be the first human exchange student," Miko said while sitting on Bulkhead's shoulder. "Why didn't you tell us about the Omega Keys before?" Jack asked. "You probably didn't notice, but things have been kinda intense around here lately," Arcee replied. "So you guys could really be going home soon, huh?" Raf asked. "Don't worry Raf. You'll come visit. Once we get our place set up he can bunk with us, right Bulk?" Miko replied. "Uhh, Miko-" Bulkhead cut off. "You are taking me with you, right?" she asked. "Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves here? Not only do we lack any method of actually reaching Cybertron, but Starscream now controls the sole means of our planet's restoration," Ratchet intercepted. "As far as we know," Optimus added. "You think Starscream's rejoined the 'Cons?" Smokescreen asked. "He might've used the Omega Keys to buy back Megatron's favor," Arcee agreed. "Hmph. Without first trying to sell them to the highest bidder? That wouldn't surprise me if he had the nerve to contact us and-" Ratchet cut off as an incoming transmission came.
"Okay, that is seriously freaking me out," Zoey said as she sat atop Smokescreen's shoulder. "Is it Starscream?" Arcee asked. After pressing some buttons Ratchet turned back to the others. "No. It is Dreadwing. And he wants to meet," Ratchet replied. After opening a Groundbridge, all of the 'Bots except Ratchet drove through. Zoey managed to sneak along with the help of Smokescreen. After driving through the vortex, the group transformed and aimed their blasters at different areas. There could be an ambush. Zoey was stuck in Smokescreen's chassis, but he quickly let her out. She flew up and sat on his shoulder. Dreadwing approached through the mist. "I am not here to fight. But to give you this," he said, motioning to the Forge of Solus Prime. "The Forge of Solus Prime," Arcee said. "Could be rigged to blow," Bulkhead muttered. "Never know with 'Cons," Ironhide muttered. "Dreadwing, what do you ask in return?" Optimus asked. "Only that you use it wisely," Dreadwing replied. "And? The Omega Keys?" Arcee asked. "In Megatron's possession. Under heaviest guard," Dreadwing replied.
"Scream did make a deal with the 'Cons," Bulkhead muttered. "Why?" Optimus asked, turning his blasters back into servos. "A shadow of disgrace has been cast upon the Decepticons. It is a cause I no longer wish to be part of," Dreadwing replied. Optimus walked forward. "Then I appeal to you again. Join us and help end this conflict once and for all," Optimus said. "Betraying my kind is not the same as accepting yours," Dreadwing replied. He was about to walk away when he looked at Zoey. "Does he know?" he asked. Zoey shook her head. Dreadwing turned and walked away, falling off a cliff to transform to fly away. The 'Bots all turned their blasters into servos and looked down at the Forge. They took the Forge and went back to the base. "It's no Star Saber, but I bet it can shatter Megatron's blade. And put some dents into that ugly mug of his," Smokescreen said. "It's not that kind of hammer," Arcee replied. "With the Decepticons in possession of all four Omega Keys, a more appropriate use of the Forge would be to use it to replicate our own," Ratchet said. "Even with such power their reconstruction would require a level of expertise I do not possess," Optimus replied. "I guess we better hope Megatron doesn't destroy the keys to prevent anyone from ever going home," Arcee said.
"Megatron may be evil, but I believe he will use the keys for their intended purpose," Optimus replied. "Well I say we let him keep it and let him do the work for us," Bulkhead said. Everyone looked at Bulkhead. "Well, I mean, what difference does it make who restores Cybertron?" he asked. "If Megatron revives Cybertron, he will no doubt use it to his political advantage," Optimus replied. "He- Wh-what? You lost me," Bulkhead said. "In all likelihood, the leader of the Decepticons will portray himself as our planet's savior and brand all Autobots as war criminals," Optimus replied. "The grand deception continues," Arcee groaned. "Megatron's so-called achievement could influence Cybertron for eons to come. Poisoning the sparks and minds of its returning citizens. Hardly the ideal way to start a new age," Ratchet said. "But there is hope. For while Megatron may have the keys, he has yet to discover the existence of the Omega Lock," Optimus replied. "Omega Lock?" Ironhide asked. "Wait, now you lost me," Arcee said. "That which the four relics were designed to activate. We must locate the device before Megatron does and secure it until we can recover the keys," Optimus replied. "There are no more Iacon entries to decode. This lock could be anywhere on Earth," Ratchet said.
"Actually, it is on Cybertron."
