"Father! You lied to me!" Lady Nhung burst into her father's quarters, him still dressed in his full military attire. The moon was full and shining down brightly in through the windows as the candle flame flickered with the door closing behind her.
The general sighed, bringing a hand up to his face. "It's late at night and yet you still torment an old bones like me."
"You said I would be queen!" His daughter hissed. "When did that change to imperial concubine?!"
"Stupid girl," The man tsked. "Don't you understand the twists and turns of palace life? Prince Lóng Qi must marry Liên Thu Tiên to appease the public. Just bear with it for a little while."
Tears formed in the girl's eyes and she threw herself over her father's knees sobbing. "I'm afraid that his highness is being tricked by her, and that she'll take revenge!"
"Have you really met that soft-hearted princess?" He raised an eyebrow. "Such a thing won't happen. You don't know but he was unhappy at being unable to marry you earlier."
Nhung Trach stopped her tears and looked up at her father. "Very well, father. Leaving aside Liên Thu Tiên, can you deal with that Ahn Văn Tiên? That arrogant child still thinks he's a crown prince with the way he acts!"
"Haha~" General Trach chuckled. "You needn't worry about that loose end. I've already arranged something for him."

The silvery moonlight lit up the palace in the late evening, lanterns recently lit lining the paths cast tall shadows against the white palace walls as a palace attendant walked along the exterior courtyard, heading towards the royal quarters.
Hearing someone call his name, he turned to see a soldier wearing the imperial guard uniform and a bandage wrapped around his head, beckoning him over.
"You're still alive, captain?" The boy attendant asked incredulously. "I thought the entire royal guard was killed off!"
The captain of the royal guard slid down the wall to a sitting position as he explained. "I was half-dead, anyways. Because I was passed out, I was presumed dead and left."
Looking up at the Prince Ahn's servant, the captain got a determined look in his eyes. "Do you want to avenge our late Emperor and Empress?" He asked, holding on to the boy's arms firmly.
The attendant blinked but nodded slowly. "Most certainly...but, how can we? Prince Lóng Qi is keeping an iron grip on the palace affairs."
"We can't do anything." The former captain spoke seriously. "However, our Crown Prince can with my plan."
━━━━
In the royal living quarters of the palace, a young boy's blue eyes were closed as he ran his fingers against a zither, but not making a sound.
The bamboo latticework sliding door opened to reveal his attendant who gave him a worried look. "Young Prince? Why don't you play if it will make you feel better?"
White hair fell in front of his eyes as his expression turned sad. "Lord father and Lady mother always liked listening to my zither."
Watching him for a moment quietly, the attendant knelt in front of him, placing his fist on the ground, making Ahn look at him in surprise.
"Crown Prince, this humble attendant of yours has an idea. Although we cannot bring the honourable late Emperor and Empress back to life, we can avenge them."
Ahn's eyes widened as he listened to the proposal, his hands tightening around his white mourning robes.
"Does the Prince know of the Tiên nation's ancient Pheonix scroll?"
━━━━
"Your Majesty," Came the guard's voice from outside the palace library, where the southern Lóng prince was looking over some imperial scrolls and records. "Prince Ahn Văn Tiên has come with something to report."
Golden eyes narrowed at the door, otherwise expressionless as he thought for a moment before telling the guard to let the boy enter.
The door slid open and Ahn walked in, holding a rather long scroll tied with a golden string. He had a rather determined expression though his heart was beating rapidly at what he was going to do.
"Rather late, isn't it?" Lóng Qi hummed, putting down his scrolls to look at the white-haired boy.
Holding the scroll outwards with his hands, he bent at the waist in a bow. "I want to use this imperial scroll in exchange for my Elder Sister's freedom."
Golden eyes simply looked at him and the scroll observingly.
"It is a scroll detailing the imperial histories of the continent and legends of the celestial Pheonix Mother and Dragon Father."
The scroll was both incredibly valuable and one of a kind, and as Tiên was famous for its scholars and lettered arts, the book was one of the most detailed and insightful compilations of the Great Continent's history.
However, what made Ahn look so determined was the small dagger slid into the scroll.

"Ahn went to assassinate Lóng Qi!?" Liên face was full of fright as her younger brother's attendant came to report her the news.
She stood up immediately, her white robes swishing behind her. "While my brother has taken martial arts, he's nowhere near Lóng Qi's level, on top of him only being eight! How could he even make such a decision?!"
"Please do not worry, Princess." The boy servant bowed before her. "The Crown Prince has the ancient Pheonix scroll with him, which the Prince Lóng Qi will definitely be interested in. All he has to do is allow the prince to approach him and he will have the chance."
"Chance?!" Liên's voice was panicked. "When did he even think of such a thing?!"
"Actually, Princess. It was the former captain of the royal guard who brought it up, wanting to avenge the late Emperor and Empress." The boy explained.
The girl's heart dropped as her eyes widened, her heart pounding loudly. "Silly! All the guards that survived were traitors!"
