Chapter 3

Hello beasties! I'm back from the dead! Or at least my vacation. I'm finally recharged and ready to start on the next chapter of this series(my favorite one so far, I must have watched the video like 200 times, rather obsessively if I might say)! But this time I'm not going to write such a long ass chapter like I did in the previous chapter, mainly because it probably would take a super long time to write over 2000 words like I did previously so this chapter will start off taking place after the events in the Land of the dead video. Just watch the video above so you can refresh your memory on the events that happened, because I don't really want to do a huge summary of what happened in this amazing video, okay? So away we go!

A/N 2019: Okay, I now realize that 2000 words isn't all that much, considering that I have fairly recently finished a 20000 or more word chapter a month ago...... jeez, 16 year old me really was totally innocent of what she'd become, wasn't she?   Anyway, you live and learn, I guess! Hope that you enjoy!

a year and a bit later after the events of the fateful night.......

Duke's P.O.V: Duke gazed over his hellish kingdom, a wide smile forming on his face. This desolate, fire and brimstone, lava rivered, monster inhabited realm was his, and his alone, nobody even daring to try and challenge his rule..... And besides, he'd made sure that they wouldn't exactly be.... around to overthrow him, per say.....

And besides, being the supreme ruler of the land of did have its perks..... like the swell collection of canes that he had commissioned especially for him. And they all complimented his new wardrobe so well, from the sleek onyx colored guitar, to the more refined Egyptian style one he carried right at the moment....

But damn, there were a certain few pieces of his wardrobe from the mortal plane he wouldn't have exactly minded taking with him to the afterlife....

Oh well, guess you couldn't have it all. So to speak. He offered up a chuckle at that.

Damn, it was good to be king. Or rather, overlord. But whatever you wanted to call him, he still was the supreme ruler of this land after all......

Since his untimely demise at the hands of those broads in the land of the living, Duke had been rather.... accepting of his departure from the mortal plane of existence.

Honestly, he'd practically forgotten about the two girls up in the mortal plane. Let them do what they wanted, take his place for their own, go back to their boring town, really, he didn't care.

He couldn't give a damn what happened to those two crazy bitches.

After all, what was done was done, and there was little one could do to change the course of fate. He'd more or less accepted that he was dead, and that almost nothing on this earth or off this earth could really change that fact.........

And besides, it gave him more time over the past year to take full advantage of all of the perks available to the supreme ruler of the underworld. After all, it'd be a crime if he didn't live it up to the fullest while he ruled......

And what a year it had been! Lounging in his dragon's blood jacuzzi, with those spellbindingly sexy gorgon sisters at his side. Equally erotic moments with a certain centaur that pulled his chariot....A troupe of zombie skeletons to carry him across the eternally burning river of flame that surrounded his twisted castle. The little "games" he'd put on with a choice number of sinners, mostly involving the doomed souls trying to escape his loyal mutt Cerberus........ only to be devoured whole by the oversized, fluffy sweetheart with three heads who faithfully guarded his castle. Feasting on delicacies like kraken soup, eye of newt daiquiris, and blood-chocolate beignets-even if he was only able to enjoy a few bites of them at a time before feeling slightly nauseated-...... Spending many an erotic night with those tantalizing gorgon sisters in his skull bed.... The endless parties in the Land of the Remembered, where the wine flowed in rivers like blood and the sex...... ohhhh, was almost worth burning to death for.

Honestly, everything was perfect. Everything he could ever desire(and honestly, he was getting a LITTLE spoiled from living in the lap of luxury), and it was more than his dark heart could ever dreamed........

But yet......

The smile faded from his face as he realized that he still felt that all familiar emptiness inside of him that made him stop and think for a moment. Why did he feel that something was missing in his otherwise perfect afterlife? He had basically everything a dark hearted vampire like himself could possibly wish for! He had come so far in the time he had been here, defeating and imprisoning the previous rulers of the underworld and taking their objects of power to top it off! Every creature in the underworld bowed down to The Duke of Vaults! So why should he be feeling like this?

It was so..... unnatural, so uncomfortable of a feeling, something somebody as charming and confident as himself shouldn't have had the right to even consider feeling so, so...... empty inside, with a dull ache that seemed to reach his very core.

He stood there for a while, fuming with silent frustration. Then with a sudden jolt he realized something.

Why hadn't he seen it before?

The thing he had been missing, wasn't something after all. That something was someone. But who could it be......

A/N: So my beasties, looks like Duke is realizing that his afterlife isn't all that perfect after all hmm? Well, now its time for us to jaunt back to the castle shall we?

Back in the world above...

Y/N's P.O.V : It had been a year since that long fateful night. You had since become a full vampire much like Missi. Ruby red eyes, fangs, an inability to see your reflection, a craving for blood..... the whole caboodle. Being a vampire wasn't as fun as Darren Shan had made it sound, that was for certain. You had half a mind to write that Irish author a very rude email about his portrayal of vampires, if you hadn't been struggling to even get one fucking bar of wifi to play your Spotify music.......

But there'd been a few advantages to your new state of being, changes to your formerly awkward teenage form that weren't exactly all that terrible.......

For one, you hardly tripped over your own feet, never accidently broke a vase or glass statuette when you bumped into an end table, and even moved with an unearthly grace when you walked. It was almost as if you had been possessed with elegance of a dancer or a higher-born noblewoman when you'd lost your humanity(and as a plus, you could maneuver quite well in those hooker boots by now)......

All of your senses had become sharper, more acute, making you able to pick up the slightest of rustles in the darkness with your pointed ears, your sense of smell increasing enough so that you were able to sniff out the pulse of blood pumping through the body of a still living rat......

So it did seem as if there were some perks to your new state of being, after all.

But as for Missi....... Well, you barely recognized her now. Your friend never let that dratted cane out of her line of sight, either, always having it firmly clasped in one hand or hooked by her side.... She was also more distant, offering more cutting glances instead of easy smiles, giving you the occasional look as if you were completely beneath her, and generally ignoring you.

And more puzzlingly, she'd have moments where she seemed almost like herself, almost as if your best friend hadn't gone through a major personality transplant seemingly overnight, and she'd laugh with you about your old jokes, smile at you, and generally be the same sweet Missi you'd known for nearly your entire life......

Unti the next night, where she'd act as if nothing had transpired between the two of you, and go right back to treating you with icy formality. And you'd try to not show how your unbeating heart was slowly shrivelling away into a dried husk at her shutting you out so suddenly......

You seemed to hardly know this girl who had sprung up in place of your Twilight loving, shy, best friend. It was like she had become a whole new person since she'd picked up that cane....

And one night, you'd dared to eavesdrop on what Missi was doing all alone in her bedchambers, after you heard her voice raised in a very heated conversation......

She was talking to somebody, someone she referred to as: "Lilith". And this person didn't even exist from what you gathered, for you'd seen for yourself that Missi had been talking to nothing more than thin air......

You walked down the labyrinthine hallway, lost in thought.

Glancing out the window, you gazed out at the moonlight lit world far beyond you. The moon was so big and bright tonight, casting down its twilight glow upon the woods and surrounding graveyard, the lights of your town just barely visible from where you stood.

Oh, how you wished you could just leave this mess all behind you and go home! But you know what they say, you can't go home again so easily......

Sometimes you wished in your loneliest moments, that you could just leave this place and go back to your old life. But you knew you couldn't. Your family probably thought you were dead after all this time, so how would they react when their long lost daughter turned up on their doorstep after six years, and was now a vampire? Not well, you thought with a shudder, turning your face away from the reflection less window you had gazed out of. Your sister probably believed you were long since deceased by this time, your mom would have mourned for you(as you knew she would have) but she would have eventually moved along with her life, as would have your stepdad, who she'd married after your dad disappeared(but did he really, I think we all know the truth

God, thelonliness. It was almost too much for one girl to even carry around within her.....

Looking around you, you suddenly realized that you had ended up in the very hallway from that long fateful night so long ago. You had been trying to avoid this place as much as you possibly could because of all the bad memories it kept bringing up for you, but here you were. God, you'd actually made great pains to

Heading further down the hallway, you spied an all familiar set of clothes that you gazed upon with a slight shudder.

Why, after all this time, did looking at that suit of clothes, now vacant of the owner, wherever he had ended up, give you chills?

Of course, the fact that it hadn't been moved in over a year and still contained the ashes of the previous owner might have something to do with it.

At the far end of the hall, you noticed that the door had been opened a little. Why was Missi in there?

Approaching the door, you opened it ever so slightly. Missi stood there, back facing towards you, absorbed in...... a book of some sort, but as for which particular tome, you couldn't say.

You had barely seen your friend in several nights, save for her wandering throughout the vast halls in the very early hours of twilight, as if she was in a trance, looking for....... something. But what exactly was she so entranced in? Whatever it was, it seemed to evoke a bunch of dark chuckling from Missi as she gazed upon the pages.....

You stood there very still for a few moments wondering if you should go in or just simply close the door, when Missi spoke.

"Y/N, I know you're there, so why don't you come in here, I have something to show you anyway."

You came into the room, unsure of what to expect from your friend. "What do you want to show me exactly?" You asked unsure of what she wanted exactly. You hadn't seen Missi in a number of nights, the purple-haired vampire girl mainly sticking

Missi turned around and held out the book to you.

Taking it from her hands, you glanced at what was on the page. What you saw would have normally made a person's heart skip a beat, but yours wasn't exactly beating anymore so you just simply stared in shock at what was on the page. Now, by this time,

It was a spell, a resurrection spell as it said on the top of the page, along with some very unusual looking symbols forming a pentagram and an illustration of a skeleton seemingly rising through the floor.

You gazed at the book for a minute, unsure of what to say, before you finally spoke up.

"Missi, what are you planning to do with this?"

Missi smiled an all too familiar smile to you by now. "Oh, Y/N, lets just say it will be a solution to our problems."

Now, you and Missi had been friends for ages, to the point where either one of you knew each other well enough to know what the other one was thinking through the expressions on either face. You were able to tell when Missi wanted to tell you a secret(looking around furtively, a secretive smile upon her face), when she wanted comfort,

But this time, you realized with growing horror, you couldn't tell what your friend was thinking at all, and it terrified you more than anything ever did.......

So my beasties, what do you think? Seems like Missi has her own hidden agenda from you doesn't it...

But patience my beasties! All will be revealed in time! In the meantime I have to get working on my ideas for my OC'S so be prepared for one or two of them to be introduced in an upcoming chapter!

Well, so long my lovelies! Hope you've enjoyed this!
