Time seemed to barely move as I sat on the couch, leaning on Aiden's chest. My tears had stopped long ago, and with my eyes closed, I wished the terrifying thoughts of what may be happening to my best friend and her family would stop.

We sat for what felt like hours, but was only about 30 minutes. Finally the sound of footsteps down the hallway broke the silence.

Luca walked into the room slowly, eyes cast down, and my heart sank. Something was wrong.

He took a deep breath before looking up and replacing the fear on his face with a fake smile.

"Would you like to meet the baby?" He asked.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and jumped to my feet, hugging him. "They're both ok?" I asked, my eyes filled with happy tears. "They're perfect." He smiled.

His voice shook, but I wrote it off as him still recovering from the fear of what may have happened.

"Can we go see them?" I asked. "Of course." He replied.

I took Aiden's hand and we walked quickly toward the room. Opening the door slowly, I grinned as my eyes met Celia holding a perfect tiny baby.

Her tear streaked face looked up and her worried eyes met mine. Her mouth smiled, but her eyes didn't.

"Would you like to meet Scarlett?" She asked.

Confused by the worry in her eyes, it took me a moment to reply.  "Al?" She asked.

"Oh, yes yes!" I replied, leading Aiden to a chair, and then moving toward the bed. I looked in awe at the tiny baby, with pitch black hair and porcelain skin. She looked like a doll.

"Do you want to hold her?" Celia asked. "Really?" I replied, almost scared to touch the tiny baby.

"Of course! You're her godmother." Cece smiled, placing her in my arms.
"Oh Ce.. Shes so beautiful.." I sighed. I rocked her slowly in my arms, and she slept peacefully. So quiet and calm compared to other newborns I'd met.

"Aiden, feel her hands. They're so soft." I said, taking Aiden's hand and placing it on her tiny palm.

She wrapped her tiny fingers around his, and he jumped, startling me.

"Aiden, what's wrong?" I asked.

"I.. I can see."
