Chapter 11
A few months had went by. Fiona was fully recovered and back to normal. Now that she was moving around and able to go things on her own that didn't exactly mean she was fulfilling her motherly duties. Eileen was still taking care of the baby as promised. Fiona was very distant from Cordelia and did not build a strong bond with her, Eileen did. Cordelia was so young and she only knew Eileen. She found Fiona to be a stranger. Eileen and Cordelia had built a bond that a mother and newborn would usually have. It bothered Fiona but didn't bother her. She never had a soft spot for babies. Fiona did love her child, but she didn't show it. She didn't know how to. Fiona didn't know how to be a mother and wasn't ready to learn. She was afraid of Cordelia. Every time she looked at her daughter she saw herself and her own youth. The possible young witch intimidated her.
Eileen wasn't surprised that Fiona was so distant from her child. She expected it. At times Fiona would need to chime in, but it wouldn't last very long. Fiona spent most of her days out. Sometimes she'd be gone for an hour or so and sometimes a full night. Eileen never asked were she had been or who she was with. Sometimes it was with men, other times it was with friends. She didn't care if Fiona came stumbling in drunk at midnight or not. All she cared about was the well being of her grandchild.
Even though Fiona was out partying and drinking, it didn't mean she was happy. She did it because she had been upset ever since she gave birth. More than when she was pregnant. Fiona tried to hide it all by seeming happy and living an exciting life, but really she was dying inside. Fiona attempted motherhood but it never worked out. At times she'd see how close Eileen was with Cordelia but she knew it was only best for Cordelia to be taken care of my Eileen. It killed her that she didn't have any motherly genes.

It was a warm November day in sunny California. Fiona was outside under the canopy reading a magazine. Eileen had been inside while Cordelia took her afternoon nap.
Eileen needed to go into town to pick up more formula for Cordelia. She came outside to interrupt Fiona's afternoon read.
"Fiona, I'm running out. Delia is down for a nap. I should be back in time before she wakes up."
Fiona sets down her magazine and nods. "Can't you take her with you?" Fiona begs
"No, Fiona. I'm sure you can handle being with a child alone while it is asleep." Eileen says sternly
"Fine."
"I just want to let you know, I soon plan to leave Los Angeles and go back home to New Orleans. I'll be taking Cordelia with me. Just like we agreed. I take care of her and you live your life. We will be leaving next week." Eileen says
Fiona was shocked to hear that her mother was leaving town. Eileen had been in Los Angeles since the summer time and she was ready to go. She had no intention of leaving without Delia and Fiona knew that. Fiona was fine with Eileen caring for Cordelia, but deep in her heart she felt sad about them leaving. Though Fiona spent little time with Cordelia she was going to miss her. Fiona just needed to keep reminding herself that it was only best for Cordelia to leave with Eileen.
Eileen sensed sadness from Fiona. She sighed and sat across from her on a lounge chair.
"You still have a chance Fiona. If you just spend more time with her-"
"It's best that she goes with you. I can visit. But we made a deal and I hope you can stick with it." Fiona hides her sadness and becomes neutral.
Eileen stands back up and nods. "I'll always keep my word."

Time went on and the suns powerful rays became too much for Fiona. She decided to go inside and help out her mother by packing up some of Cordelia's things.
She slowly creeped into the nursery where Cordelia was resting and began folding her tiny outfits. It was a bit upsetting. Soon the nursery would be empty. Fiona didn't know how to feel.
As she was packing her heard Cordelia beginning to wake up. She rushed to her crib hoping she could get her to fall back asleep.
Cordelia's eyes opened wide and when she saw Fiona she began to scream and fuss. Seeing Fiona hover over her crib was a different sight for her.
Fiona went into immediate panic mode.
"Shhh, Delia... it's okay." Fiona slowly takes the baby out of her crib and sways back and forth trying her hardest to calm the baby.
Cordelia continued to scream and cry.
"I don't know what to do, Delia! Just please, stop." She cries
Then, Fiona tried to remember Delia's feeding schedule. She checked her watch to see that it was already four and Cordelia usually eats around three.
She carries the baby to the living room and puts her in a bassinet while she prepares a bottle for the baby.
She wasn't sure how to. She never prepared one before, but she grabbed a glass bottle and began.
Once the warm bottle was prepared she went back to the screaming baby.
"Okay, I made you a bottle. Now promise me you'll stop crying."
Fiona picks up the baby and holds her with one arm. The other held the bottle which was being given to Delia.
She stops crying and everything was at ease.
Fiona sighed with relief and walked around the room feeding the baby.
Then, just as she was quite Eileen walked in through the front door. She was shocked to see Fiona doing so well with the baby.
She dropped her things on the ground and walked over to the two girls.
"She woke up for you, didn't she?" Eileen chuckles as she caresses Cordelia's chubby cheeks.
A soft smile appears on Fiona's face.
"Yes, She was a bit fussy but she's okay now." Fiona says
"While I was out I got my plane ticket to go back home."
Fiona's smile disappears. "Okay."
"If you change-"
"I won't change my mind. I want what's best for her."
Eileen drops the subject.

The day that Cordelia and Eileen were leaving came up very quick. The week went by and now it was time to say goodbye. Eileen packed up everything she'd need for the baby. All that was left of Cordelia's nursery was the dresser and crib.
It was weird for Fiona to see it so empty and even more weird to see all of her things packed up. It was hard but Fiona just tried to get through the day.
Around noon their taxi had arrived. The driver helped pack in all of their belongings. Fiona stood outside and watched as she got closer and closer to saying goodbye.
Once everything was packed and ready Eileen brought the baby over to Fiona. When Cordelia saw Fiona she started to coo and smile. Fiona kept a blank face.
"Do you want to say goodbye?" She says to Fiona
Fiona nods and takes her baby. She gives her a hug and kisses her forehead.
"I'm doing this all for you." She whispers
The baby begins to fuss and Fiona immediately hands her back to Eileen.
Fiona gives Eileen a quick hug "Thank you."
Eileen smiles then turns to the taxi. "Take care of yourself, Fiona. Don't be a stranger." Eileen steps into the taxi and the driver closes the door.
Before Fiona began to cry she turned to her house and ran inside as the taxi started to drive off.
She closed the door behind her and once she did everything felt so empty and quite.

That night Fiona stayed in instead of going out and getting her mind off things. She kept asking herself if she was doing the right thing. If sending her daughter away was the wrong decision.
As Fiona was deep in thought she was disrupted by someone knocking at the door.
Fiona didn't want to answer but she did.
Fiona slowly walked to the door and opened it. She was stunned to see her and John's old friend standing at the door. It had been almost a year since Fiona last saw the man.
"Henry, hello.." Fiona says softly
"Fiona, I'm sorry for coming unannounced."
He says politely
Ever since John off Fiona lost all contact with him and some of his friends, Henry being one. John and Henry were always close so seeing him at the door made Fiona curious. Henry was always such a nice man. Him and Fiona got along. When Fiona saw him she didn't know what he knew. Did he know about the baby? John leaving?
"Do you want to come in?" Fiona says
"If you don't mind."
Fiona opens the door more and Henry walks into the home. He looks around then back at Fiona.
He walks up to her and gives her a hug. "You look beautiful as always, Fiona." He says kissing her cheek.
"Thank you. You don't look to bad yourself Mr. Holmes."
"Do you have coffee?" He asks
Fiona nods and walks towards the kitchen. Though it was late at night, it was never too late for coffee and conversation.
Fiona prepares two cups of coffee then sits down next to Henry. She didn't question why he was at her home. She as just glad she had someone to take her mind off things.
"How are you?" She asks
"I'm alright. Megan and I are no longer together. I've been a bit lost." He says
"I'm sorry to hear. I bet you've heard that John and I.... Well we are no longer together."
Once Fiona brings up John Henry immediately grows sad.
"Yes, I did hear. I'm sorry."
Henry knew about the baby as well but he did not bring it up.
Fiona sensed something was wrong with Henry. Since Fiona was clairvoyant she could hear what he was thinking. Then, Fiona heard something she didn't want to hear.
"John, where is he, what happened?" Fiona says
Henry did not know of Fiona or her powers, he was taken back when Fiona asked about John the way she did. But at a time like this he didn't think much of it. "I sadly come baring bad news." He says with sadness
"John passed away last week in a plane crash."
Fiona was shocked to hear this news. When she heard that John was dead she didn't know how to feel. She hated him, but he was her husband. It was the father of her child. She dousing help but feel the leash bit guilty knowing Delia would never meet her father.
"I'm sorry..." Henry adds
Fiona bows her head and takes a deep breath.
"I can't believe he is gone" Fiona whispers
"I heard that you two have a child together. According to the state, since you are legally still his wife, you get everything. Everything in his name is now yours and the baby's. I think that what he has will take care of the two of you."
Fiona would have thought that after he left he took Fiona's name out of everything, but he didn't. Fiona got every last penny of his and John was a very, very, wealthy man. In a way she was happy about it. It's what she deserved after all he did to her.
"I'm sorry Henry, he was your best friend." Fiona hides her slight bit of happiness with the money agreement and apologizes to Henry. She knew it was probably more painful for him rather than for her to lose John.
"He was... because of that I know he would want you to be taken care of. Now that he's gone, whenever you need me I'll be there for you."
