💔9💔
Sona went to her destination and sat on the garden with a heavy heart. The same garden which gave Dev and Sonakshi lots of memories. Her eyes were full of tears as she stared at the person in front of her. The person who was responsible for all their miseries. She was still smiling as if nothing happened. She felt like wiping that smile away from her face.
Luckily Dev didn't notice her all this while.
She must have been following them everywhere they went. She turned cruel.... Or more likely, the fate turned her cruel.
Sona sobbed while covering her mouth with palms. Her heart pained and she grinded her teeth together to stay silent.
"You were unfair Sonakshi..... You didn't play fair. You told him about your cruel father.... You told him about our friends.... You told him about your escorts..... You told him about your life.... But why didn't you tell him that....that..." she choked on her own tears.
"Why didn't you tell him that you had a twin????" she cried hardly and fell completely lifeless on the ground.
(Flashback)
"Dad... please." Sona pleaded while Sonali, her twin sister stayed silent.
"Sonakshi please. If dad's saying something, it would be for our own good. Don't do this to yourself." Sonali spoke.
After finding about Sona and Dev's love affair, their dad was hell bent on not accepting Dev. He also warned Sonakshi not to call him or meet him anymore. Despite all her father's efforts, Sonakshi still fought. Hence, Sonakshi's father eventually decided to house-arrest her.
"Dad... please I can't live without Dev. I will die." She cried making Sonali alarmed too.
"One more time I hear his name from your mouth, I will kill you! Go to your room." That angry man screamed and Sonakshi cried to her heart's content. She couldn't bear the pain of staying away for so long.
"And you!" he pointed angrily towards Sonali, "Make sure she doesn't leave this room. When you are out, no one should go in or come out! Is that understood?" he said menacingly, making Sonali nod helplessly.
Locking the room and placing securities outside, their father stormed out of there crossly.
Her body was getting exhausted and she fell on the floor with tiredness. Seeing her state made Sonali terrified. She slowly walked over to her sister's lifeless body and caressed her shoulder comfortingly.
"Hey Sonakshi..... why are you wasting your time over some pathetic guy? Don't you know about our father? He's an ass. You should have known that he would react like this..." Sonali frowned and stated like a matter of fact.
"You wouldn't know the value of true love. You have never experienced one!" Sona spat irritatingly. She felt so annoyed that Sonali could never understand her true feelings. She was a money minded and arrogant girl compared to Sonakshi.
Sonakshi and Sonali could never get along in many things although they were twins. They had different perceptions in life.
However, both of them could never bear to see each other in sorrow. Sonali felt like Sonakshi's tears were killing her insides. Sonakshi was stubborn or returning back to Delhi but her father had placed strict conditions that now, she could not even leave her own house.
Sonali sighed and combed Sonakshi's hairs.
"Stop crying sweetie pie. Soon you will overcome this blind love and see the reality. Sooner or later he will forget you and move on with another chick. Guys will be guys Sona. You will get a better guy too....." Sonali thought she was making Sonakshi feel better.
But she didn't realise that every word she spoke was hurting Sona like arrows on an injured man.
"You won't u-understand w-what I am feeling" Sonakshi hiccupped amidst her tears.
Sonali sighed and looked at her sister in dejection. She could not understand what would make her sister feel better, but she still stayed by her side.
"There's nothing you can do now Sona. Dad has tight securities around the house. Leaving to Delhi is far off the topic, you can't even dream of leaving this house." Sonali said and Sonakshi looked at her sister desperately.
"Sonali.... I am pregnant!" she blurted and Sonali froze. She felt her throat clog up with an unknown feeling and her eyes went wide as saucers.
"WHAT THE FUCK?"
"Please don't shout." Sonakshi placed her palms on her sister's mouth.
"What? Are you freaking nuts Sonakshi? Do you know what that means? Dad will kill you... oh god!" Sonali started freaking out as she placed her hands on her head and gripped her hair tightly.
"Sonali-"
"No stop!" Sonali showed her palms. "How could you Sonakshi? How could you be so careless? Really? You slept with him?" she scrunched into a disgusted expression, making Sona fall weaker. She felt so embarrassed and drained to even cry out loud.
"Please di.... Help me. I have no one except you." Sonakshi held her sister's palms and pleaded. Sonali looked at her sister as if she was mad.
"What are you talking? How can I help you?" she gasped and Sonakshi blinked her eyes. Sitting upright, she wiped her tears and smiled at Sonali.
"I want to go to Delhi at any cost..... if I stay here, I will die out of depression. Please... help me book flight back to Delhi tomorrow. Pleaseeee...................." she joint her hands together and begged. Sonali's heart was thumping loudly and she felt the world around her spinning.
She couldn't believe if her sister acted dumb or she was really dumb. Did her advices even reach out to Sonakshi?
"Booking tickets isn't an issue Sona. But how are you going to leave?" Sonali huffed sceptically.
"I will leave this house with my passports and important documents..... but I won't leave as Sonakshi. I will leave as Sonali." She said with a confident look, making Sonali numb.
"What?" Sonali's jaws dropped to the ground. She was aware that love made people dumb....but what she wasn't aware was, love makes people fearless too.
A scared, timid Sonakshi was now ready to elope, disguising herself as her own sister. How did she become that brave?
"Sonali..... please, if not for me... at least for the sake of my child, help me. I know once dad finds out about my pregnancy, he would react angrily. He may even ask me to get it aborted. You know I would rather die than doing that, right?"
"Sonakshi there has to be another way-"
"There's no other way. If I leave now, that's it. There's no coming back. I also know that there's no way father would call me back from Delhi. Either way, I don't have any intention to leave Dev and come back as well.... He's my everything. My life, my love and my heartbeat." A small smile lifted up Sona's lips while Sonali blinked confusedly.
She looked at her sister's hands which unknowingly brushed her stomach. A wave of sudden sadness rubbed on her heart.
"Are you willing to leave me forever?" Sonali asked breathlessly. A drop of tear fell down on their intertwined hands as they stared at each other, eye to eye.
Sonakshi's throat tightened. But she smiled amidst her pain and cupped Sonali's one cheek.
"Distance doesn't separate true love"
Sonali bit her lips and smiled back. For the first time in her life, she was witnessing a glimpse of true love. Sona's love for Dev was beyond what she had ever witnessed. She never knew love could be so selfless. Her sister's love was beyond imaginable.
But she wasn't really sure if the guy Dev deserved it. She was doubtful and protective of her naïve sister. She could have simply been fooled by a good-looking, lusty man. Sonali didn't really believe in true love. If there was any true love, then it was her love she had for her sister.
"Okay.... I will help you." Sonali wiped her tears and looked at her sister. "You shall leave tomorrow morning, to your Dev! Okay?" she scoffed, making Sona's face light up in joy.
Sonakshi's face looked like life was pumped back into it. Her entire body shook with happiness that caused a small smile to lift up in Sonali's lips too.
Sighing heavily, Sonali decided to help her sister.
---------------
Using the landline secretly with the help of her Sonali, Sonakshi called Dev.
"Dev..." she voiced out nervously.
"Sona, oh my god. Sona what the hell yaar? Why didn't you call me? You know... I almost booked tickets to Paris and-"
"Dev stop. Listen.." she hiccupped between her tears.
"Sona...are you crying?" his voice made her cry harder. But she used her palms and covered her mouth tightly. Now wasn't the time to be sentimental. She had to act fast and do things the right way.
"Sona please my sweetheart, don't cry. You know that I love you a lot, don't you? What's wrong? Just tell me and I will fix it." He cooed softly, making Sona melt in his voice. She wished she could tell him everything through the phone.
But she wanted to see his actual reaction. She wanted to see how happy he looked when he was given his life's biggest gift.
"Dev, I can't be here anymore. This place is so toxic. I want to be with you. I want to hug you..." She sobbed and heard the other side being silent. Probably he was freaking out as well. Sona felt like slapping herself. She couldn't even hold everything to herself for a day longer.
"Well, I am always here for you, aren't I? Come to me.... I am waiting for you jaan." He said mischievously and her lips curved upwards.
"Dev, I am coming tomorrow. Will you pick me up from the airport?" she sniffed and heard him gasp. It was an expected reaction. She knew she had lots of explanation to do later on.
"Sonu, are you serious? You really booked the flight tickets?" he gasped, and Sona nodded to herself.
"Dev, I will tell you everything later. Will you pick me up from the airport?" she asked, nervously playing with her shawl. She felt nausea hitting her again and the acidic feeling of vomit was rising up her throat.
"Of course, babydoll! I am looking forward. What's more important than picking you up, huh?" he joked and she forced out a chuckle. She didn't want to let him know that she was sick.
"Dev, I also have another news for you." She breathed heavily, holding her chest.
"What news?" this time she heard Dev panicked a little, but Sona just laughed to ease his tension.
"Don't worry. All is good... it's a good news. I will tell you that once I see you tomorrow morning. Okay? Until then don't call me." She whispered the last sentence, hearing some footsteps near her room.
"Sure baby. Bye!" Dev's voice was so cheerful. She smiled happily, wishing that he would always remain like that.
Little did she know...
------------------
Sonakshi packed her bags and quickly left the mansion, dressing up like her twin Sonali. She applied heavy make-up and dressed boldly, which was very unlikely for her. She wondered whether Dev would even identify her in that clown-like makeover.
Mustering the much needed courage, she walked bravely with a branded handbag packed with her important belongings. The guards didn't even check her. Maybe her make-over was that good....
Grabbing a cab, she asked the driver to rush to the airport. She re-checked her tickets and passport expiry dates multiple times to avoid any mishaps.
"Mam... you have reached." The taxi driver's voice jolted her out of her place. She smiled awkwardly and paid him the money. Sona quickly collected her things and when she was about to step out, her phone buzzed.
Sona's body turned cold and she quickly jumbled with her phone. It was Sonali.... Why was she calling her? Her mind whirled and she crossed the road hurriedly. Picking up the phone, she placed it on her ears.
"Hello, yes Sonali?"
"Sonakshi, dad has found out!!!!!!!! Come back right now. I am really sorry... I tried acting, but somehow he just found out! Now he's sending his escorts to the airport to catch you. Please, come back before he catches you." Sonali squealed and Sonakshi felt the energy leaving her body.
Her morning sickness was hitting her and she clutched her head in frustration. She looked up at the announcement board and noticed that she still had two hours for her flight to take off. Gritting angrily, she walked towards the car parking area.
Taking hasty steps ahead, she just didn't notice the lorry speeding behind her in the blind spot.
"No Sonali.... I can't go back. Dev must be waiting for me. I am just going to stick with my plan. I am going to AHHHHHHH" Sonakshi's scream was the last thing Sonali heard, followed by a honking sound and ear-splitting crashing noise.
Sonali didn't know what happened, but she felt her heart stopping completely.
Then she started to remember Sonakshi's face when she saw her the last time. Her smile, her voice and her sweet melodious voice..... Memories flooded back into her head. The cheerful girl that brought happiness to their entire family, exited her life so abruptly leaving her so vulnerable and lonely.
The beautiful girl that took her heart, could no longer return back...
(Flashback ends)
"That day.... I helped you with all I could. But what happened? WHAT?" Sonali screamed looking at the smiling picture in the tombstone. She was devastated and drained emotionally.
The smile which broke her into pieces. With teary eyes, she read the words in the tombstone again and again.
Sonakshi Adams
Died on 15 November 2016
Lover, daughter and sister
Breathed her last breath in the memory of her true love
Sonali had cried so much for the past two years that even her tears had dried up. Now she felt completely like a lifeless corpse.
"We had so many similarities.... We shared the same favourite colour. We shared the same favourite bangles. We had same favourite food.....
but I never expected for both of us to fall in love with the same man." She cried hysterically and sobbed till her heart ached and hands legs fell weak.
"I am sorry that I judged your love too fast. Now I understand why you loved Dev so much.... His love is contagious. He's love will make even the heartless fall in love. His love taught me compassion, sincerity and hopes. He set the standards so high Sona......." She cried.
"I am so sorry... This was not meant to happen. I came down here and acted rudely so that he would forget you and move on. I just couldn't bear to break this news to him. If I had done that, he would have definitely died....... I just couldn't do it. You were right. Dev wouldn't live without you. That's why I did this....." she started wheezing as her eyes turned bloodshot.
(Flashback)
"Sonali......." Sonakshi held her hands while the monitor next to her beeped. The doctors had given up and allowed them to spend their last moments with Sonakshi.
Sonakshi's father stood there with a pale face. His guards slowly coming down as he saw his daughter breathing heavily. He never wanted this to happen. Yes, he was against her relationship. But he never wanted his daughter to die... moreover, while she was carrying another life inside her.
His tears rolled down his cheeks and he stood further away, in shame. He felt like a murderer. His daughter could have lived happily with the man of her dreams... but he shattered it. He ruined her life.
"Sonakshi.... Please don't leave me Sona. Please, I beg you. I will call Dev, call whoever you want. Even father is okay with it. Please just stay with us. I can't even imagine another minute without you Sonakshi." Her sister cried in anguish.
She didn't know what she was blabbering, but only one message rung on her head. She couldn't accept Sonakshi's disappearance in her life. She would never tolerate such a day. Sonakshi was a part of her. She would lose her life if she's separated and Sonali would never allow that.
"So...nali..." Sonakshi breathed, unable to even form a proper sentence. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she gazed at her sister loving.
"Don't tell Dev about my death........ he will die" she whispered, making Sonali pale.
"W-what?"
"Go there as me, Sonali..........and do anything which breaks his heart. Make him forget me. I want him to move on. He wouldn't move on....until he has a closure." A lone tear dripped down her sides and drenched the pillow.
"B-but y-you can't make him un-love me. His love will only fade the day where the sun doesn't rise anymore." Sona breathed softly.
"O-okay, but what if......he doesn't forget you? What if he holds me back?" Sonali uttered in dismay, not knowing what else to say. Her father's face ghosted on the corner.
Sonakshi lips curved in a painful smile.
"Hhhhh........he would........h-he would eventually realise....that you...are n-not h-his Sonakshi. He would search for me inside you. And at the end....when he doesn't find me, he would leave you" she smiled and Sonali cried.
Sonali didn't understand it back then. She just couldn't connect the dots. Whatever Sonakshi said didn't make any sense. How could someone search for their lover inside another person who resembled exactly the same?
"I....will try." She sobbed and laid her head next to her hand. Sonakshi's eyes drifted to her father and she showed no emotions.
"D-dad?" she called and her father quickly winced.
"Y-yes sweetheart?" he rushed forward, faster than anywhere he had been. His heart sunk and body trembled as he saw the life in his daughter's eyes slowly fading away.
"I have given a promise to someone and I want to fulfil t-that." Sonakshi breathed and felt her lungs tightening. The air was slowly leaving her and she couldn't even breathe despite the oxygen mask placed on her.
"What promise Sonakshi?" her father cried.
"Delhi.....is my home.... I promised Dev that even if I die, I will die there. I will never leave him and go away...... will you make my promise leave after I die?" she asked with lots of hope.
Sona's father wailed loudly, making everyone's heart ache in agony. He bowed down in shame, unable to look at Sona's eyes. Her daughter's love was something he failed to receive.... He regretted his entire life and this was the hardest punishment that the god could have given him.
"I will definitely fulfil your promise my darling!!! I swear I will..... I will do anything in my ability..." he sobbed his heart out, making the doctors there cry too. Sonali cried and they sat by there seeing their most beloved person leaving the world.
"I....am soorryyy... Dev. I love you..."
And that's how Sonakshi breathed her last breath.
(Flashback ends)
Sonali looked at the tombstone which was built in the same garden that Sonakshi first met Dev. Sonali still remembered how Sonakshi used to praise about the garden. She loved the place more than anything in the world....which was why, her father decided to buy that small property and build a tombstone there.
One day or another, if Dev passes by there..... he would eventually know the truth. But she guessed he would never do that, since he hated someone making the holy place a graveyard.
"Now, I have finally done what you wanted, I shall go. I kept my promise, Sonakshi......and trust me, it was hard." Sonali wiped her tears and looked at the tombstone sadly.
The last few words of Dev still echoed in her ears.
"To me, you're just a girl who have resided in my Sona's body."
"You aren't mine"
"Your heart doesn't recognise me any longer"
Sonali smiled, now fully understanding what Sonakshi meant when she said that Dev would look for his own Sonakshi inside her.
"You were right Sona....... Dev would never love me even if he wants to. I can never become his Sonakshi. It's your soul which he fell in love with... I am so sorry that he could never find out what you wanted to tell him. I just couldn't find the heart in me to tell him. I know he deserves to know about your child....... But it will kill him."
She cried till her sadness drained through her, leaving her hopeless. More than anything, now she knew how a real heartbreak felt like. Just being with Dev for a month, made her fall head in heels over him. Now this separation forever slashed her heart painfully.
She thought that Sona was a fool to have sacrificed her life for some teenage-love. How wrong could she have been?
Sonakshi must have been through this same pain when she was separated from Dev.....
Her sister had found her soulmate. A real soulmate......
But destiny couldn't unite them.
Sonakshi died a cruel death, but she vowed that she would always remain a part of Dev forever. In his memories, in his life and in his dreams. She had once said that distance doesn't separate loves ones.
Now Sonali knew the meaning of it.
Sona was dead, but she was always alive in her heart. There is no such thing as death for people who are connected through soul. Death only comes when their souls die. They were born together and they will die together too......
Wherever she turned, she could see the smiling face of her sister guiding her in every step towards victory. Somehow their twin instincts always worked. Sonali always heard her sister speaking to her despite the distance they were in.
Fate played cruelly in their lives. Sonali could now do nothing but pray that at least Dev lives a life happily ahead.
My love would only fade when the sun doesn't rise any longer – Sonakshi Adams.
~***~The End~***~

Sorry for the sad ending guys. This book was supposed to have a sad ending, which is why I made it short. This is the first story which has a sad ending. Now I am sure people understand the cover picture of Bleeding roses.
Moral of the story:
Yes, Sonakshi died, but true love never dies.
I personally hate sad endings, so I am sorry again :(
