chapter three - Tyler

"Mom, please. Don't make me TO, it won't help. At all. PLEASE." Tyler pleaded at they sat at the table, eating breakfast. It was 8:00, and the support group started at 4, after school. "No, Tyler. You're going; you need help. Seriously, if you don't like it after the second time, and I mean REALLY don't like it, then you don't have to go. But you're going to try it. Every Monday, after school. okay?" She looked at him eyes wide. Tyler sighed heavily, stirring his mushy cereal in circles. "Okay." He muttured after a few minutes.

"Good. Now go to school, you're late already." Said his mom, standing up to clear away the bowls. "They don't care anyway." He whispered under his breath, picking up his backpack and leaving.

School went quickly, as all Tyler thought about was the boy he saw next door, his new neighbour. In the back of his English book he drew a picture from memory, colouring his red messy hair and his cap with detail. "Tyler." Said Mrs Chapman softly, leaning over him. Tyler jumped so hard all his coloured pencils fell off his desk. Angrily he gathered all his pencils and put them back in his pencil case, arranging them in rainbow order.

"Tyler," Mrs Chapman repeated, putting a wrinkled hand on his shoulder. He was so skinny she could feel his sharp shoulder blades under his black t shirt.

She sighed helplessly. What had she done to derserve a pupil like this? He had his tests next year, he wasn't going To do well, or even turn up for them. "Do your work okay?" She asked despratley. He sniffed, and didn't look up.

Eventually she gave up and walked awayand Tyler got back to drawing the new neighbour.
