chapter 21 - Josh
I wake up and turn over to hug Tyler only to feel an empty space and to see Tyler say cross legged on the floor, scribbling notes into his notebook, pushing his stitch onesie hoodie out I the way every now and then. I groan and sit up, squinting as the sunlight hit my eyes. 'Tyler, what are you doing?' I ask, though i'm pretty sure I know. His head popped up to look at me, pen poised.
'Well, I just had a brainwave I loads of ideas for songs and I wrote them down in case they ran away from me,' he smiled cutely, and carried on scribbing words in his scrawly writing. I sighed, sinking down under the covers and wishing he was in bed so I could hug him.
As if reading my thoughts, Tyler snapped his notebook shut and climbed back into bed with me. 'I think I caught all the ideas,' he whispered, his arms round me and resting his forehead in my neck. I smile at how adorable he is, and put my arms around his waist, snoozing comfortably.
After about an hour we get up and have breakfast, and then Tyler is desperate to show me the new song he wrote and how we were going to play it.
After a few hours we had gotten it completely right and the song was perfect - it was in my head now.
We decided to call it lovely, because it had that in the chorus and it sounded right.
Leaving for a taco bell lunch, Tyler told me something. 'You know, the song wad inspired by the first time I met you at that support group, and you were all stutters because you were so nervous.' He smiled shyly and I smiled back, blushing and grabbing his hand. 'That's awesome, baby.' I said, and we set off for taco bell.
There was no need to take the bus as it was a lot closer than our parents houses, so we walked and ordered. To bring back old memories I said again to the woman 'i didn't choose taco bell, taco bell chose me' and Tyler laughed again. Never gets old.
Tyler chose a cheesy gordita crunch this time, and I chose a chilli bean taco. We walked back while eating our taco bell, completely peacefully and happily muching in silence.
I realised how perfect my life was now; I was with the boy I loved, living with him 24/7, eating my favourite food and making music, which was my favourite thing to do. And all with my favourite person ever.
'I'm so happy, Tyer,' I whispered, my mouth full of chilli. Tyler squeezed my hand. 'Two happy boys,' he answered. I nodded: that sounded perfectly right.
'Yeah. Two happy boys.'
