Postscript 1
For the prompt "letter" a week ago, I was finishing up my "Letter of Apology" (see the previous part) when my husband walked by. Puzzled over the title, he looked over my shoulder...so I read it aloud to him.
He cracked up laughing at my lame excuse for absence from the Weekend Write-In.
Mark has no use for online gaming, but encourages my fun since it keeps me off my sprained foot.
(Which is recovering nicely, by the way.)
I'm glad he had the laugh. It was the last dose of fun he would have for a week.
Later in the day he was huddled in bed, shaking and shuddering, chilling with a fever, and what a pain in his belly! We debated the cause, whether the flu that's going around or food poisoning or... Hmm...
Well, anyway, we ended up in the emergency room, and he was admitted to the hospital before midnight.
Next day, by going down his gullet (ick! A week later, he's still hoarse...), they cleared out the infection caused by an errant gallstone plugging a duct.
Two days later, by laparoscopic surgery, they removed his gallbladder.
Now he has three new scars on his belly: two small winks and a larger grimace.
(He is recovering nicely at home, by the way.)
So I must extend my letter of apology. I still have not gotten around to reading and commenting on the last three weeks (or more?) of flashes and drabbles by my good circle of friends around the world.
That's bubbling to the top of my list of priorities.
Hampered a little by this new addiction to running around in an artificial world with a pickaxe over my shoulder.
