Hologram

I know the last chapter was really short and most of the chapters will be that way. However, I'm trying to pump out a chapter every 3-4 days to make up for it (:

Me, Jackson and Tyrone wipe the last of our tears away. We've cried them all out. It's now completely silent in the room.

A soldier from the crowd around Admiral George urgently waves us over. We reluctantly push ourselves up and make our way back to the crowd. I look over my shoulder one last time. Yep, still dead.

When we get to the crowd, Admiral George is sprawled on the floor, a glass shard stuck into his forehead pouring blood into his eye. He begins to speak. He's panting as if he's in excruciating pain and it looks like it hurts to do so.

"USB," is all he says. Major Martin immediately understands this order and plugs Admiral George's USB drive into the hologram projector. It's surprisingly still in peak condition even after all of that. Admiral George impatiently stares at Martin. And by stare, I mean penetrating Martin's poor soul with those cold blue eyes of his.

The file list appears on the hologram. Only one document appears - Microsoft Powerpoint 2034: Untitled Presentation. Martin taps the file twice. Admiral George shuts his eyes as if he doesn't want to see what the file holds.

     He's got a good reason.

Projected onto the hologram is a map of North Korea and a big red circle in the North-West. A timer set for 1 week from now is counting down above the map. In the notes column are three things:
- "Nuke"
-"No more than 3 people to defuse, stay incognito"
-"Enter through Shenyang, China"

I suppose that tells us where the bomb that rolled in and killed Jackson's precious kitty came from. But the US hasn't done anything to North Korea recently, have we? Has another country set us up?

The entire crowd falls silent. I think they're shocked by the fact that there's a bomb going to hit the USA, but I'm confused as to why someone would make a bomb with the ability to be "defused." I thought they only did that in movies so the main character could defuse it at the very last second. I hope I'm not the main character.

There's a knock on the door. Everyone drops to the floor and behind the knocked over tables in panick. See, why would you knock on the door before an attack?

I notice Lieutenant Andrew is still stood up. He's laughing.

"I called the ambulance for Admiral George, guys. Get back up," he says, his voice wobbling as if it's the funniest thing he's ever seen. I'm sure he would be on the floor as well after what happened a few minutes ago.

"Dammit, Andrew! Tell us next time, a'ight?" There's a hint of laughter in Tyrone's voice, but I know he's mad. He particularly dislikes making a fool of himself.

A nurse bursts in, carrying a white stretcher in his right arm. It's sort of refreshing seeing someone with two real arms. I look down at my bionic arm, remembering the door incident. Lucky nurse.

The nurse explains that his partner that was sent to do this with him got drunk before coming so he can't help out. When he asks for a volunteer to help, I instinctively put my hand up. The nurse nods and rests Admiral George's head onto the stretcher while I put his legs on it. All the while, everyone stays silent. It's slightly uncomfortable.

We lift the stretcher up and make our way toward the door until Jackson interrupts.

"What about my cat? Can't y'all do somethin' to save 'im?" He's probably trying to forget that Fluffy's gone. Instead of correcting him, I simply smile at him. His eyes look back at me in despair, as if to plead me to bring his cat to the hospital and somehow resurrect her.

"What cat?" the nurse asks.

"Nothing. The cat's sort of... dead." I quietly respond. I feel a tear welling up in my eye again.

"The least we can do is clone it." Clone it? Is this nurse drunk, too?

Jackson's face immediately lights up and he anxiously taps his feet. I never would have thought such a quick transition was possible.

"Will she be the exact same?" he asks. Is similar not good enough or something?

The nurse looks up for a moment, thinking. "To some extent. She won't b-"

The nurse is interrupted by the beep of my bionic arm.

I think I know what just happened. Please, God no...

Sorry this chapter took so long to publish. What do you think happened? Also the next chapter is going to be quite long because every chapter until now has been building up to it. I'll be sure to make the wait worth it (somewhat) (;
