Chapter 3

The empty sound of the wind gradually becomes a storm

It was quiet, too quiet and so the bad dream

Come to me as if to swallow me whole

I am paralyzed, unable to move

_EXO, BAD DREAM

What is this all about? I thought you brought me home. he was taken aback.
He went through all her messages and in every message she was angry at him for ditching her last night. He was confused. If it wasn't Yura then who brought him home yesterday. Only Yura, his manager and he himself knew the passcode to his house. If it wasn't Yura then maybe his manager was the one to take him home. Sitting on the couch he threw his head back as different thoughts played in his mind.

Junmyeon was a loner. His shuddery childhood and his treacherous anxiety never allowed him to form groovy relationships. He didn't have a wide circle of friends and those friends he had were not aware of his situation. Only Riahn, his manager knew and was the one who stood by his side all the time. Riahn was like a brother to him.

Yura was an actress. Not the top one but not at the bottom as well. She was the one who proposed to him one night at the bar, five months ago. He rejected the proposal because he knew he was not made for relationships. But she didn't leave him at that. She did that everytime she would see him. When he told about Yura to his psychologist, she advised him to accept the proposal as his anxiety was not much of a problem then. With his sessions with the psychologist and medications over the years his anxiety was treated almost 90%.

After learning his condition, Yura didn't left him as he anticipated it to be. So he also wanted to give his all to the relationship. He tried his best to make her happy and be happy with her. But at the end it would always leave an empty space inside him. This relationship never managed to fill the voidness of his heart as it would always scream for a different name.

His chain of thoughts was disrupted by the loud ringtone of his phone. He was annoyed at Riahn for changing his ringtone again. He glanced at the name of the caller and "thinking of the devil and devil is here."

"Hello" he said,answering the phone.
"Oh wow, this is a miralcle, you have finally answered your phone." Junmyeon pulled the phone a little away from his ear. Geez why is everyone shouting at him today.

"My battery died." he informed his manager nonchalantly.
"Anyways, are you ready? Please tell me you are ready, because I'm on my way."
Now he was confused, what am i supposed to be ready for? He thought to himself.

"Uhm, ready for what exactly?" He asked his manager carefully not wanting to provoke his dramatic nagging.

"Oh my GOD, are you serious right now. Have you checked all the details i have sent you? Please tell me you did" He was now shouting at him. Junmyeon couldn't help but to pull the phone away from his ear again. His manager did plan to tear his eardrums today.

"Uhm, calm down Riahn" he tried to calm him. But the shouting continued.

"Don't even try, you have been so irresponsible these days. You don't even listen to me even more. So you even consider me your manager? Because honestly I think its the other way around.."
"Okay, how about.." he wasn't able to finish his sentence when Riahn started shouting again.

"No you listen, how about you check all the details and then.." Now it was Junmyeon, who didn't let him finish and ended the call. He wasn't in mood for his dramatic shouting and scolding. Listening to his nagging no one can tell that he is actually younger then Junmyeon.

He went to his messages. Riahn had signed him up for an advertisement and its shooting was after two days. Today he was needed to go and have a check. Though it was unnecessary but how can he persuade his manager.

I just came back from the concert, give me a break. Being already so tired and hungover, Junmyeon just wanted to sleep again but got ready anyways.

She was engrossed in her work for the last 2 hours, forgetting everything else. The only luminaire in the room was the screen of her laptop. Though the light was not enough but the little bluish light from the screen that illuminated her face was adequate to delineate her ravishing lineaments. Her fierce mahogany eyes made her from another planet. From her flawless lips to her undefiled skin, everything was one would wish for.

Her perfect slender, yet bruised, fingers moved rapidly on the keyboard, inducing the sound of clicking in the stillness of the room. A smug appended to her face.

Her attention was deviated by the sound of vibrations on the wooden desk. Pulling her phone from the charger she received the call.
"Where are you? I am in front of your hotel but the lights in your room..."
"I am here. Give me a minute" she cut him off. Closing her laptop, she put it in the suitcase beside the table. She wore her cap and mask, grabbing her bag and coat from the bed she proceeded towards the door.

"Jia!" Isaac, who was standing beside his car, waved at her when he saw her coming out of of the hotel. She was wearing blue tight jeans with a salmon pink warm long coat and a red stripped blue scarf wrapped around her neck. Her chocolate-brown hair fell on her shoulders elegantly.

A pinch of sadness hit his joyous eyes as he looked at the mask on her face.
"Hey. Thanks for picking me up" she said when she came close. Opening the passenger seat door he smiled at her. "My pleasure"

"Whats with the courtesy." She looked at him, baffled. Him being this courteous to her was unusual.
"Don't try to flirt. Its not gonna work" sitting in the car she joked. After closing the door behind her he went to the driver seat.
"There are moments when things can touch your heart. No one knows when I can have that lucky moment" Fastening his seat belt he winked at her.
"You and your philosophy" she rolled her eyes.
"By the way, about this courtesy, I am trying to make up for ditching you yesterday" he explained.
"You better do that" she sighed. She went to the cafe yesterday where they were supposed to have coffee Isaac has asked for but he himself didn't appear because of the work burden.

"Still not over it?" somewhere on their way he asked her.
"Over what?" She was watching the scurrying lights of the night out of the window, enjoying her ephemeral free moments. Every patch of the streets was decorated with lights and Christmas stuff. Christmas was almost here and she didn't notice.

"You know...the darkness and veiling your face" he asked hesitantly, glancing at her a bit. Pulling her gaze away from the window, she looked at him and smiled.
"Being able to last in daylight now is more than enough I guess" she spoke after some time, playing with her bag.
The car stopped in front of a five star restaurant.
"But still, its been more than six years now" turning towards her he said. His grasp on the steering wheel tightened, but he kept his face calm. She knew he was concerned about her but it was an unnecessary worry he has dawned upon himself.

"I have never thought about changing these things. They won't concern me as long as they do not interfere with my job" she said fidgeting with her fingers. "And besides these make me who I am. I feel comfortable around people like this" she looked at him smiling.

She knew he won't buy any of her excuses but she tried. Its not that she never tried to get rid of these but it was not easy. It was not easy to change what she had been for almost half of her life. And she feared herself. Hiding her face behind the mask she felt that she could hide her true self from the people. Without the mask on her face, she feared that people might see the monster inside.

"Are we going there? Its beautiful, the decorations. Its been a long time since I saw such decorations." In an attempt to ease the atmosphere, she asked pointing at the restaurant which was illuminated with lights. There were small Christmas trees placed outside the glass windows. A Santa Claus sat beside the entrance.

Christmas ornamentations used to bring warmth and joy to her for some part of her life, but now everything was exanimate to her eyes.

"I have booked a room so you can be comfortable" As expected from him. Isaac stepped out of the car and she followed. They went inside the restaurant.
