Chapter 29 - Departure

Tiasha started looking into the documents and records of Anga as soon as she could after Karna's departure.

Mahamahim Bhishma was a little confused as to why she was so curious about Anga Desh to begin with. They had started their lessons only a few days ago and he intended to teach her about the internal and core matters of Hastinapur at first. But Tiasha explained she wanted to get a grasp on the whole picture of the political situation that is going on in the entirety of aryavarth so she wants to start with foreign affairs. Mahamahim agreed.

Bhishma asked Tiasha, "Putri why are you putting this much emphasis on Anga?"

Tiasha was prepared for this question, " Kururastra's biggest border with Magadha is in Anga Desh, and Anga Desh hasn't had a king for the longest time, with a new king taking the charges, Jarasandh might want to take over in this vulnerable situation. And looking at the conditions there, I don't think the Praja of Anga is very loyal to Hastinapur. We might face a war."

-"So, what are you thinking of doing, Kumari?" Vidur asked.

-"I am not thinking of doing anything yet, Mahamantri, if Angaraj sends any news, then only we will get a clear picture of the situation and take action according to that."

After some time, when the discussion was finished, Tiasha left with a few documents and Vidur and Bhishma stared at her retiring figure with an impressed look on their faces.

Bhishma gave Vidur a satisfied and proud smile, "What do you think now, Vidur?"

-"I have never had doubts about your choice, Tat Shree, she is exceptional." Vidur returned the same smile as Bhishma.

-"Now, we just need Kunti and Yudhishthira's opinion on the matter."

-"I don't think Kunti Bhabishree will disagree. She is very fond of Kumari Tiasha, and Yudhishthira, well..."

-"What about Yudhishthira, Vidur?"

-"He is quite affectionate." Vidur said smirking.

Bhishma frowned, which made Vidur continue, "I have heard, the four Pandavas teasing Yudhishthira, mentioning Tiasha Bhabishree."

Bhishma laughed shaking his head, "So, we are not the only one on this, are we?"

-"I believe so, Tat Shree." Vidur smiled.

Tiasha was expecting a letter from Karna, so she was not at all surprised when a dasi entered Duryodhan's chamber, with a letter in her hand where the two friends were playing chess.

She took the scroll from her and sat down reading with a slight frown on her forehead.

Duryodhan asked, "What happened Sakhi? Who is this letter from?"

-"Vasusena." Tiasha answered almost in a whisper as she was still focused on the letter.

-"Mitra Karna? What did he write? Is everything okay in Anga?" Tiasha didn't answer, she continued to read the long letter Karna had sent her.

When Tiasha didn't answer Duryodhan again asked impatiently, "Sakhi, do you hear me?"

Tiasha hummed, making Duryodhan pace back and forth. Tiasha finished reading the letter and looked up at Duryodhan. Duryodhan asked, "Well?"

Tiasha sighed, "Sakha, I am seriously worried about how you are going to take on life, you do not have an ounce of patience in your bones."

Duryodhan ignored the statement and said, "What did Mitra Karna say? Is everything okay in Anga?"

Tiasha sighed again, "Sit down first, you are going to make a hole in the floor if you keep on stomping and pacing like that."

Duryodhan obeyed. He sat down beside Tiasha.

-"To answer your first question, he wrote he had a safe journey and about the condition of Anga. To answer your second question, no nothing is ok in Anga."

-"What happened?"

-"His situation is even worse than Ashwatthama. He says an old woman spat on his face at first glance."

Duryodhan stood up, "He better have decided to hang her, I don't care if she is an old woman. How dare she disrespect a king, let alone spit on my Mitra's face?"

-"That is exactly what he shouldn't do. Calm down for a second, sit down..." Tiasha stood and sat Duryodhan down by his arm. She handed him a glass of water and said, "...drink, and breath, otherwise you will choke to death in anger."

Duryodhan to the glass from Tiasha and drank the water. Tiasha took the glass from his hand and set it down on the table beside them. Then she sat beside Duryodhan who was still breathing heavily and his body shaking as the after-effect of his raging anger.

-"You need to keep your anger in check, Sakha."

-"Are you not angry?"

-"No I am not, because the actual condition of Anga is much worse than that is mentioned in the records. Think about it, they have been ignored for ages, they were denied their rights, they didn't have the protection for Hastinapur, they faced all kinds of injustice and oppression from Magadha and Hastinapur didn't do anything about it. Now one fine morning you appoint someone as their king. You cannot expect them to accept Vasu on the first day itself. He needs to earn their trust. And he needs to work for them, for the betterment of the kingdom. Being a King isn't just a title Sakha, he has responsibilities. The old woman's actions are justified."

-"So what do we do now?"

-"Not we, I. I am going to talk to Pitamah Bhishma and I will go to Anga and see what I can do."

-"But it's dangerous for you to go alone, I want to accompany you." Duryodhan whined. Tiasha sighed, "You are not going to listen to me, are you?"

Duryodhan shook his head smirking, "I won't disturb your time with your Vasu, I will just escort you and return to Hastinapur. I don't think Pitamah or Kaka Shree will want to delay the announcement of Yuvraj anymore. Although I am sure I am not the one they are going to choose." Duryodhan sneered at the end of the sentence.

For the past few days, she has been trying to avoid that topic like the plague. She doesn't want to go there, not yet, so whenever the topic arrives she just tries to change it as soon as possible. Although if Shakuni is present in the room then that task is not that easy, so she simply excuses herself and escapes from the dreadful discussion.

-"We need to leave for Anga as soon as we can, and bring at least ten, twelve men with us."

--

When Tiasha went to talk to Bhishma, he at first was not ready to let her go. He said, "No no, Putri I can not allow you to go. It's dangerous and from what Angaraj said in the letter, Anga is not stable at all, It's not safe for you to go there in these situations. I will go myself and see what I can do."  Karna had officially sent a letter to Mahamahim Bhishma stating the conditions of the kingdom. He was instructed to do so as Anga is a vessel kingdom of Kururastra.

But our Tiasha here has a special skill for convincing people. Pecks of being a Doctor I guess.

-"Pitamah I know it's dangerous, but please try to understand, if you go yourself the situation may take an even worse turn. They already don't trust Angaraj. They don't know me, not saying that they will put more trust in a stranger than in you, situations could be completely different. but still..."

-"I get what you are trying to say Putri, but I won't be able to forgive myself if something happens to you."

-"Pitamah, Sakha Duryodhan said he will escort me and Angaraj is there in Anga, besides I can protect myself..." For further convincing she added, "The things that you have taught me I want to put those into action, Pitamah."

Bhishma sighed then smiled, "You have learnt everything so fast, I know you will do a great job and make me proud, I trust you. Be careful, May you succeed in everything you put a hand on."

Tiasha touched his feet and took his blessings.

-"I will keep you updated on everything. And I hope you will help me out if I get stuck."

-"Anytime Putri. And we don't know when the situations are going to improve, so, you may have to stay there an uncertain amount of time, I hope you are aware of that?"

-"I am, Pitamah."

Tiasha arranged everything within a day to start for Anga. Bhishma, Vidur, Kunti and the Pandavas were all worried as well as upset that Tiasha might not be present for Yudhishthira's Yuvraj Abhishek. On the other hand, Shakuni was happy when he got the news of her departure.

After a lot of reassurance to Kunti and Gandhari and a lot of crying and hugging of Dushala Tiasha finally sat down beside Duryodhan on the chariot and set on a journey for Anga.
