Clay turned toward Alvarez. "You could've saved us ten minutes if you'd shown up earlier," he grumbled. Alvarez gave him a dry look. "You could've called someone who speaks Spanish," he replied, and I looked at Juice, who didn't see the look I gave him. Jax let out a short laugh despite himself. Chibs clapped Alvarez lightly on the shoulder. "Good to see ye, mate," he said. I watched as Bobby helped the woman back into the van to bring her back to her house. Alvarez nodded toward the street. "Now, are you going to tell me why you're looking for Salazar?" he asked, and I quickly looked at Jax, whose expression darkened. "It's Tara," he replied, and I saw Alvarez look grow sterner. "What's happened?" he asked. "She was taken by your pal Hector," I said from where I was standing. Alvarez swore under his breath in Spanish. For the first time since they'd arrived, nobody had a sarcastic remark ready. Just as we thought we'd never get a hint, a call came in through Happy. "Clay," he yelled, walking into the clubhouse where we were spread out. I was sitting with Lyla and Opie on the Couch when Clay stuck his head out of the meeting room. "What is it?" he asked. "Salazar's got the major and a woman in his office." Happy told the room, and I knew it was Tara. Silence. Juice straightened from his seat. "What?" he asked. "The major's been kidnapped." Jax's jaw tightened. "Salazar's holding him inside a building surrounded by police." Happy added. I saw a frown on Clay's face. "Why the hell would he do that?" he asked. "Because he wants me," Jax said into the room, and I knew this was a bad Idea. "He'll release Tara if I surrender myself to him," he replied, already knowing this was all on him. Riley felt her stomach drop. "Oh, absolutely not," I mumbled as I got up from the couch. Every head turned toward her. I looked around the room. I had my arms folded tightly across my chest. "No. No way." I grumbled, feeling anger boiling. Jax looked at me. "Riley—" he said, but I raised my hand to stop him. "Don't Riley me," I grumbled, turning to look at him, releasing my arm and pointing a finger at him. "You're going to walk into a building with Salazar, who's already kidnapped Tara, and just hope he keeps his word?" I asked him. "It's the only way he'll let her go," Jax replied, getting up from the bar stool. "You don't know that!" I grumbled, and I could feel my voice crack. "I want you to be safe, Jax, and not get yourself killed," I said, and again, after all that already happened, I felt tears build in my face, and this time I didn't stop them. "Lass." Chibs tried to say, but I stopped him. "She's pregnant, Chibs, just like me, and I know what she's going through. Would you want me to be kidnapped pregnant?" I asked, and I could see Chibs shake his head without me needing to look at him. "I know she is," Chibs said softly, walking closer to me, reaching his hand out, but I didn't take it or let him touch me, and he understood that I was angry, not at him but at Jax. "And he's going to trade himself for her like he's exchanging a bloody parcel?" I asked him. "She is the mother of my child," he replied.  "And that's exactly why I'm scared," he added, and I just nodded before the boys wanted to plan how to handle/what to do, but we all knew it wouldn't be in our hands. I drove behind the others to the scene and saw the police already surrounding the building with their weapon at the ready. Chibs walked in front of me, shielding me from whatever was going on inside, stopping near one of the cars. Clay, Juice, Bobby, Happy, and the others gathered near the edge of the police line. There were too many windows. Too many doors. Too many places where something could go wrong. She hated all of them. A police officer approached the group. "You need to stay behind the line," he told us. Clay gave him a hard look. "We know how a perimeter works," he grumbled. "Then you shouldn't have a problem staying behind it," the officer replied to him. Chibs caught Clay's arm before the argument could go any further. "Not now," he whispered, and Clay let out a light huff before reluctantly stepping back next to Jax and Chibs. I looked at Jax, who was talking to Stahl; I already hated what was coming. I moved slightly to the side towards them. "Jax." I whispered slightly. He turned around to me and I touched his arm. "Look at me." I whispered slightly turning him away from Stahl hwo tried to follow us. "This is a talk between grown ups, keep out of this." I hissed moving even further away from her. "You bring Tara out of this." I whispered and Jax slightly nodded. "I will." he replied, I glanced over at Stahl. "No promises you can't keep." I told him with my eyebrows slightly up. "And fuck that bitch for whatever she wants." I added, Jax gave me a grin back. "I'll do everything I can." he replied wrapping me in his arms before releasing me after a second. "Stay with the others and keep out of dodge I dont know whats gonna happen as soon as I go in there." he added. he squeezed my hand before releasing it. "I've got to go." he gave me a kiss on the head and turning to the building. My heart began beating harder with every step. The officers opened a narrow path through the perimeter. Jax spoke briefly with the police commander, then moved toward the entrance. No one tried to stop him. Not even Clay. The doors opened.
