4. Him
Vijay was astounded by the grand reception he had received. The kingdom was barely living on scrap and were selling their own daughters for the sake of money but the King himself had a grand palace to himself. Not to mention the fortitude of men and women he had at his disposal. This was definitely not what ,he had expected. As he waited a messenger finally had arrived and whispered something in the guards ear and as soon as he heard that, the guard smiled at Vijay and said
"Maharaja, sorry I was not informed of your arrival otherwise I would not have stopped you. I humbly apologize for this grave mistake. "
The guard bowed before Vijay before finally signalling other guards to bow to the Prince of Maratha. Vijay so wanted to kill the guard on the spot for not recognizing him and had reached his dagger in the robe, but was immediately stopped by his senapati (Minister) as the senapati gave him a look that suggested to him to avoid any conflict. Vijay was now grumpy as they followed the guards to the gate of the palace. The entrance was massive and was covered in garlands marking the arrival of the Prince. As soon as the gates opened, the Prince saw the beautifully lit hallroom. The walls made of the best quality marble, the ceiling covered with chandeliers studded with diamonds and floor laid with scarlet mattress. This was indeed a grand welcome. Vijay slowly walked into the room and saw the King standing and smiling. But as his eyes moved around he saw the Goddess reincarnated on Earth Princess Ra herself. The room was full of shiny things diamonds, the ornaments worn by the king and his ministers but everything failed in front Princess Ra's beauty.
Her face was hidden and yet it was visible enough to brighten Vijay's mood. Vijay was stunned in his place and his Senapati had to interfer once again. The senapati gave a light tap on Vijay's shoulder and her was brought back to senses. Even though King Vikram was a king of a rather small kingdom, he was a king.
Vijay immediately got down on his left knee and bowed to him and greeted.
"Oh Maharaja, I Prince of Maratha am really thankful for this invite. We have received such a warm welcome and I thank everyone present for making us feel special. We don't come empty handed of course. Senapati bring out the gifts."
Once the invitation was received, Prince Vijay had asked his men to bring him the best gifts and they had brought him the best ornaments, wine, itar (perfumes) and even horses.
"Oh Maharaj, please accept our gifts. This is rather a small price in return of your daughter. Maharaj, I Prince Vijay of the Maratha Empire have come here tonight to ask your daughter's hand for marriage."
The Prince's word were loud enough to echo in the hallroom and entire room was silent as the marriage proposal was announced.
