Chapter 22

Kasumi's POV

-------------------------

Sasuke walked with me to Konoha hospital, his hands in his pockets. I walked beside him, grinning to myself, occasionally glancing up into the sky.

'You sure so seem excited today, Kasumi,' he smiled. I nodded.

'You betcha I am! Give me one reason why you think we're going to the hospital today,' I smirked. Sasuke looked puzzled.

'Um, because you like hospitals?' He guessed. I poked my tongue out at him.

'No silly! Today, I'm finally getting this damn split removed from my foot!' I grinned pointing at my bandaged ankle.

'Ahhh, right, how could I not notice?' He joked. He linked my arm and we wandered up to the hospital's entrance and into the waiting room.

'Kasumi-Akane Namikaze?' A nurse called. I jumped up and pulled Sasuke with me. We went into the doctors room and I sat down on the bed.

'Ohayō Kasumi, I see you're rather happy this morning,' the doctor said. I nodded, grinning.

'Well now, you've brought you're boyfriend along again,'

I began blushing furiously but I nodded shyly. Sasuke smirked, nodding too.

'Well then, let's have a lookie at this ankle then,' the doctor said, examining it. I glanced up at Sasuke, giving him a nervous smile. Sasuke smiled at me, melting my heart as the doctor finished.

'It seems good so far, so now we're going to remove the splint and then you can go!' The doctor said, as he began unwrapping the bandages around the splint. He took them off carefully and then removed the wood which supported my ankle, then finally, he removed the lat layer of bandages which had stopped the wood from rubbing.

'Well now Kasumi, your ankle is still quite weak, since it was the tendon that was the real damage, your bones seem strong enough so you're good to go! But take care of that ankle, just in case,' the doctor said, as I stood up.

'Heh! Feels good, Doc!' I grinned. 'Arigato!' I said turning to leave.

'Kasumi, wait,' Sasuke said, grabbing my hand. I paused. 'Hey Doc, when we were out on our latest mission, we got into a bit of a scrape, and Kasumi was wounded severely on her face. She was blinded for a long period of time and only recently got her sight back. But she hasn't been checked out completely. So if you would, please check out the wounds,' Sasuke asked. Wait no, pleaded.

'I was wondering how those mysterious scars had made their way onto her face,' he said. 'Take a seat please Kasumi,' the doctor said pushing my short fringe back so he could have a look at the dark scars that were carved around my eyes.

His eyes widened as he picked up a magnifying glass and took a closer look.

'Is there anything else that happened to her while you were on this mission?' He asked.

'She caught some serious hypothermia but she seems to have recovered, why? Is she okay, doc?' Sasuke panicked, standing up.

'She should be fine but there's something about these scars... Arigato both of you for coming, we'll be seeing you real soon,' the doctor said opening the door for us to leave. I noticed something change in his voice, but I grinned and legged it towards the door. Man, I hated hospitals! Especially after that creepy episode. But honestly, what could be so bad about my scars? Sasuke linked my arm and we strolled out of the hospital.

'Sasuke! What was that about?' I demanded, suddenly stopping, turning to face him. He looked at me, with sadness in his eyes.

'Kasumi, those scars on your eyes, there's something not right about them. Remember back in the Land of the Waves? When you had that incredible surge of power, even though you were blind, you fought as if everything was crystal clear around you, I know this because the Dobe told me,' he said, looking me right in the eyes.

'Don't call my brother Dobe!' I sighed. Sasuke shook his head.

'I'm sorry Kasumi. But I've noticed something has changed about your eyes too, they used to be a beautiful deep blue with hints of dark purple, but now, there's still a pale colour that wasn't there before. Don't get me wrong Kasumi, your eyes are still beautiful, it's just that they've changed, and I'm not sure if it's for the good or the bad,' he said. I looked down, I had noticed something different about my eyes, every time that I looked in the mirror but now that Sasuke had noticed it too, should I be worried?

'Let's go home, we resume training tomorrow and I'm sure that you're tired,' Sasuke said, wrapping his arm around me waist and leading me forward. I smiled and went with him. We walked throught the streets of Konoha until we came to the forrest.

'Hey Sasuke? Can we have a walk through the forrest? Naruto won't be home until later,' I begged. Sasuke smiled.

'Sure,'

We walked through, talking about what sort of training Kakashi Sensei might have for us or if we had any new missions were coming up, until we were rudley interrupted...

An ANBU agent leapt down from the tree she was sitting in and landed in front of us. Her face was hidden by a cat-like, red and white ANBU mask. She was quite tall and had shoulder length dark hair.

'Excuse me but are you Kasumi-Akane Namikaze?' She asked, in a serious tone. I nodded shakily and Sasuke stepped in front of me.

'So what if she is, what's it to you?' He scowled.

'Lord Hokage wishes that she reports to his office immediately. In fact, I was sent here to escort her,' the ANBU said calmly. I gently pushed past Sasuke and he tensed, grabbing my arm. I looked at him surprised, so he let go quickly.

'Sasuke? Don't worry, I'll be fine! It's only the Old Man after all,' I said giving him a quick hug and a peck on the cheek.

'Sure, I'll be waiting,' he said. I nodded and followed the ANBU.

--------------

'So what does the Hokage want from me?' I asked the ANBU, as we walked up to the Hokage's office.

'I'm sorry but I can't tell you until we're inside the Hokage's office, it's top secret. Are you ready?' the ANBU said, pausing at the door. I gulped and nodded. The ANBU knocked on the door.

'Come in,' the Old Man croaked from behind the heavy door. The door slid open and I was surprised to see Kakashi Sensei, the doctor who had treated me this morning and a whole bunch of ANBU agents. The Hokage beckond me forward and I walked in nervously.

'Um, what's going on?' I asked, looking around.

'Don't worry Kasumi, everything's going to be just fine,' Kakashi sensei said, giving me a closed eyed smile. Yeah, you can say that if you want but by the looks of all these ANBU black-ops, I don't think everything is going to be alright! The Old Man looked at me.

'So, how was your mission in the Land of Waves? I know that you all got back safetly but you had a spot of trouble on the mission, is that correct?'

'Yes sir,' I mumbled.

'Your brother was the first to get injured after those two assassins attacked, am I right?' the Old Man asked.

I nodded and watched everyone's eyes in the room, go wide and confused. Kakashi Sensei looked the most confused.

'Sorry Lord Hokage, but did you just say that Naruto is Kasumi's brother?' he asked, his tone was unsure. The Old Man nodded.

'Yes, I appologise. I was meant to tell you all about that, but it'll have to wait for later. Right now, this is our main concern,'

Kakashi Sensei nodded and everyone's faces returned to nromal, though you could still pick out the hints of surprise and shock in their eyes.

'Now Kasumi, you were severly injured weren't you? You were actually blinded for a period of time until a certain event occured which I will not mention if you don't want me to,' the Old Man smiled weakly. I shook my head, blushing furiously. He chuckled a bit and then cleared his throat.

'Yes well Kakashi reported this to me as soon as you all got back and he told me that you had some strange and sudden burst of chakra which made you fight like a demon, and this was when you were still blind, yes? Kakashi said that you became surrounded by white chakra and you performed your own set of hand seals and yelled out-'

'Blind State,' I whispered, looking at the floor. An awkward silence fell and I felt everyone's eyes on me. Someone took a step forward.

'Lord Hokage,' I heard the doctor say. I looked up and the Hokage called me forward. I reluctantly stepped forward, I felt my legs shaking. My head was spinning and I felt so weak. The doctor stood beside me and pointed to the scars on my face, then to my eyes.

The Hokage gasped and stood up, walking round his desk to have a closer look. I felt the drips of sweat rolling down my forehead and onto my face.

'Kasumi, would you care to step outside for a bit? Aiko, wait with her please,' the Old Man ordered the ANBU who'd stopped us earlier. She nodded and lead me out, and the door closed behind us.

Are you right there, kid? You're shaking,' Aiko said, looking at me through her cat-like ANBU mask. I looked up and shook my head.

'No, I'm not feeling too good,' I admitted.

'What's wrong? Maybe I can help, I'm quite handy when it comes to medical ninjutsu,' she said. I rubbed my head and cleared my throat.

'I've got some killer headache and my body feels so weak too but at the same time, stiff. It's hard to move and I feel like I could collapse any minute now,' I said, letting out a heavy sigh.

'Lay down on that bench there and I'll see if I can help,' she said leading me towards a long wooden bench. She placed her hands over my flat chest and began her medical ninjutsu. Almost immediately the strength returned to my body and my headache vanished. My limbs un-stiffened and I felt like I could run a marathon. She removed her hands and stopped.

'That'a all I can do for you now kid,' she sighed, wiping behind that ANBU mask of hers.

'No, no! I feel 200% already! Arigato!' I grinned sitting up. I jumped to my feet and toured up and down the hall, the ANBU watching me.

'Um, can I ask you something...'

'Aiko. You can call me Aiko,' she said kindly. I smiled weakly.

'Aiko. Can I ask you something?'

'Sure kid,'

'What do they think is wrong with me? With my eyes?' I asked sadly.

'Maybe-'

The door slid open and Kakashi Sensei stood there.

'Ready to come back in, Kasumi?' He asked. I gulped my head spinning again. I walked back in with Aiko behind me.

'Kasumi, I want to ask you one favour,' the Third Hokage said. I noticed him standing by the window and looking out onto the village.

'Yes sir?' I stammered.

'Go and fight your Sensei, try not to summon that power unless you really need it,' the Hokage said. My eyes widened and I glanced at Kakashi Sensei. He nodded at me and I gulped.

'But I can't summon that power sir!' I exclaimed. The Old Man ignored my argument and pointed to the direction of the training fields.

'Take Kasumi there and wait until Kakashi and I arrive, this will be an interesting match,' the Old Man said, turning to face me, a gleam in his eye...
