The Interview
It was late night in Kolkata.
And very late in Seoul.
Your phone screen glowed softly as you lay on your bed, staring at Seo In-guk through the video call.
Both of you looked tired.
But calmer than the past few days.
The rumors hadn't disappeared.
But for tonight, neither of you wanted to talk about them.
You hesitated for a moment.
"Hey."
He looked up.
"Hmm?"
"Can I ask you something?"
His eyebrows lifted slightly.
"That sounds dangerous."
You laughed.
"No seriously."
He leaned back slightly.
"What is it?"
You hesitated.
Then said,
"I think we should ask each other some questions."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"Interview?"
You rolled your eyes.
"No."
He smirked.
"So... interrogation?"
You groaned.
"Stop."
He laughed softly.
"Okay okay."
Then he studied your face more carefully.
"Serious questions?"
"Yes."
"About us?"
You nodded.
"About future things."
His expression softened slightly.
Then he teased,
"Wow."
"What?"
"You're already planning our life."
You pointed a finger at the screen.
"Don't start."
He leaned closer slightly.
"Relax, wifey."
Your face immediately turned red.
"Don't call me that!"
He grinned.
"That reaction means you liked it."
You hid your face behind a pillow.
"This interview was a bad idea."
He laughed.
"No no."
Then he sat up straighter.
"Ask."
⸻
You took a breath.
reath.
"Okay."
"Kids."
He blinked.
"That escalated quickly."
"Answer."
He leaned back thoughtfully.
"I like kids."
"That's not an answer."
"Two."
You frowned.
"Only two?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
He shrugged.
"Because I want to sleep sometimes."
You burst out laughing.
"Fair point."
Then he tilted his head.
"What about you?"
You thought for a moment.
"Two."
He pointed at the screen.
"See."
"We're already agreeing."
⸻
You hesitated before asking the next one.
"What if I leave my job one day?"
His answer came immediately.
"That's your decision."
"No opinion?"
He shook his head.
"It's your career."
Then he added quietly,
"But I know you."
"How?"
"You love what you do."
You smiled slightly.
"True."
Then you asked,
"What if you leave acting one day?"
He paused for a moment.
"Then I'll sing."
You blinked.
"Oh."
"You forgot."
"I didn't forget," you protested immediately.
"I just... like actor you."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Actor me?"
"Yes."
You tried to explain.
"You're very good in dramas."
He smirked slightly.
"Very good?"
"Okay fine," you sighed. "Very charming."
That seemed to satisfy him.
Then you added quickly,
"And anyway, I was supposed to ask you about your next album."
His expression changed slightly.
"Oh?"
"Yes." "You know, you promised new music."
He leaned forward slightly.
"So you were planning to interview me after all."
You groaned.
"This is not an interview."
He grinned.
"You literally said 'I have questions.'"
You rolled your eyes.
"I was curious."
He tilted his head slightly.
"Curious about my album... or curious about my life?"
You smiled faintly.
"Both."
He studied you for a moment.
Then said softly,
"Maybe the next album will have a song about Kolkata."
Your eyebrows lifted.
"Really?"
He shrugged.
"Depends."
"On what?"
"Whether the girl from Kolkata keeps asking me difficult questions like this."
You laughed.
"That's your inspiration?"
He nodded seriously.
"Yes."
Then added quietly,
"And maybe a love song."
Your cheeks warmed.
"About who?"
His smile was slow.
"I think you know."
⸻
You tried to hide your red face.
"Okay, okay, next question."
"Where would we live?" you asked quietly.
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead he leaned forward slightly.
"That's a serious question."
"Yes."
He thought for a moment.
"Maybe both."
"What do you mean?"
"Part of the year in Seoul."
"Part in Kolkata."
Your eyebrows lifted.
"You'd live here?"
"Why not?"
You smiled slightly.
"You'd survive the traffic?"
He made a face.
"Maybe not."
⸻
"Vacation."
"How many?"
He didn't hesitate.
"Two big trips a year."
"Minimum."
You laughed.
"Demanding."
"Necessary."
"Where?"
"Anywhere."
Then he added quietly,
"As long as it's with you."
Your heart warmed slightly.
⸻
You hesitated before asking the last one.
He noticed immediately.
"That face means trouble."
You tried not to laugh.
"Okay."
"One last question."
"Ask."
You leaned closer to the screen.
"How many times... on a date... do you expect..."
You stopped.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Expect what?"
Your face turned red.
"You know."
He blinked.
Then slowly realized what you meant.
His grin widened immediately.
"Oh."
"Oh wow."
You covered your face.
"This was a mistake."
He laughed.
"You asked the question."
"Well answer!"
He leaned back dramatically.
"Depends."
"On what?"
"How cute my wife looks that day."
You threw the pillow at the screen.
"You're impossible."
He laughed again.
Then said softly,
"But seriously..."
His expression warmed.
"I'm just happy to be with you."
Your heart softened instantly.
The tension.
The rumors.
The distance between Kolkata and Seoul.
For a moment none of it mattered.
Because right now—
You were just two people.
Planning a life.
