Chapter 1: Running Away

"You can't stay like this anymore." I said wiping her wounds.
"What else can I do?" Her body trembled as tears poured down her pale cheeks.

"You're better than this, stand up for yourself," I paused. "Run away."
I saw her glassy grey eyes widen "R-Run away?" She whispered, as if it was the impossible. "Become a rogue?" She was shaking her head against the idea.
"You have to do it, Lizzy." I said putting a hand on her shoulder. "I'll help you."

I saw adoration and confidence in her eyes. The conflict hadn't left but I think even she had enough.
"You're right, it's been too long living like this. I'll leave tonight." She hugged me. "Thank you. I don't know where I'd be without you."

"Dead?" I joked, seeing her tear stained face lighten up.

"Probably." A smile making its way on her face.
"Sleep here till it's time." I pointed at my bed.

"Thank you, Al." Her face shinning with gratitude.

"Stop thanking me. This is what best friends are for." I gave her a small smile, "I'll wake you up when it's midnight." I looked around my house. It was empty as always. My parents had died when our neighbouring pack attacked us. The pain of the topic had subsided over the years.

Lizzy was too fragile to live alone, how will she survive?
I made my decision, I couldn't let her do this alone, not anymore.

I am Alvina Peter Summers, the daughter of the late gamma- Brandon John Summers. Gamma is the third in command in a pack. Yes, I said pack.

We are werewolves. No, we don't stay in our wolf forms all the time. It's only when we want to change we call for our inner wolf. My inner wolf is Sienna. The name comes from the colour of my fur in wolf form.

Now, let me start talking a bit more about my life in Blood Shadow pack. I was going to be third in command but back in my old pack.

The war between my old pack and my neighbouring pack killed everyone leaving me. Sometimes, I wonder why they left me alone. Torturous thoughts. All this happened when I was thirteen years old. I started out as a rogue but no rogue survives as the packs consider them threats and rightly so. They are killed on site.

I was a rogue for three years before the Blood Shadow pack found me. I still remember that day as though it happened just yesterday.

FLASHBACK

I had been running for about three hours. The blue jeans tattered and white shirt drenched in blood, were tied down on my left paw. I was being chased by some wolves from another pack, whom I didn't know.

I suddenly felt myself going through a force barrier. I knew I had entered another packs territory. The physical exhaustion of running miles at a stretch finally weighing me down. If someone put up a fight with me right now I would go down without hesitation.

I saw three pretty huge wolves coming towards me. Looking at me as though I was a labrat who they were telling seconds away from dissecting. After taking in my battered state they shifted. I had already been labeled harmless and on the way to my death bed.

"Shift." The middle one demanded. His words held power but not enough to enforce it on a rogue as I stood my ground and growled weakly.

"Shift!" He repeated with a growl of his own. With my remaining strength I sprinted behind a tree and shifted, pulling on the clothes which were tied to my leg.

"State your reason for entering out territory, mutt." The one on the left sneered.
"I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention, I was being chased by a few people. I mean no harm." I bowed showing my submission to my words.

"You know the punishment for this, rogue?" The one on the right, who I assumed was the beta, roared.
"Yes, death." I looked right in his brown eyes, which held hatred turning into confusion then blatant rage.

"You dare loo-" He started but the one in the middle stopped him.
"Enough, Harry." He turned to me. "Would you like to join our pack?"

"What are you saying? She is a rogue. A traitor to her own pack." Harry said incredulously.

My eyes were wide in shock at the offer presented to me. I was rather dubious about this situation but I missed being in a pack. Being a rogue was making me lose my sanity, that is, if I have some left.

"Does she look like a traitor to you?" He asked.

"Don't answer that." He turned to me, "We will take you in when you tell us your story. If we believe it, we'll consider your chances of survival, if not-" He paused and looked me right in the eye. "Death."

FLASHBACK OVER

They took me in, of course. After a lot of explaining and cross checking.

I'm nineteen now. When I came into the pack, they offered me a house near the mansion as I refused to live in the pack house because it reminded me of home. My parents.

I still had to go to the pack house more than a few times. But I didn't mind since, that's were I met Lizzy.
Lizzy was short for Elisabeth Amy Grayson.

She is the pack's supposed slave. They all believe she killed her parents, the Alpha and Luna. Everyone hated her guts, even her own brother. But I knew she hadn't done it. She is too kind. We had bonded over our misfortunes which was frowned upon by everyone. Though, it wasn't like they liked either of us before.

The way they treated her was plain evil. I tried to stand up for her but that seemed to only make matters worse.

I stopped but I still helped her when ever I could. No one deserved this kind of an inhuman treatment.

This time they had crossed the line. Her brother -the so called Alpha- strangled her almost to death and told her that her mate would be disappointed at what he gets.

The Alpha, Jake Edison Grayson. I never figured him out. He was the best Alpha I had come across but when it came to Lizzy he turned brutal. He hated her from the bottom of his heart.

I had confronted him about it but only to get either Alpha ordered or dragged out by Harry. His so called mate, Brittany was a blonde bimbo who assumed she was better than everyone else.

But everyone kind of knew she wasn't the Alpha's mate but no one dared to argue. Mate. My heart gets heavy everytime that word enters my thoughts.

We are supposed to meet our mates at the age of eighteen but I was nineteen and soon to be twenty. There are moments when I think the moon goddess didn't think I deserved a mate. For this thought, I often received a slap from Lizzy.

She said I was extremely beautiful which I didn't agree with, what's 'extremely' beautiful in brunette hair and green eyes?

All werewolves had toned bodies. We are beautiful creatures so I never considered myself out of the ordinary.

Whereas Lizzy, she was the real thing. A redhead with grey eyes. She stood at 5'4 against my 5'8. I'm too tall. I usually tower over the girls which I assume isn't an attractive feature.

I heard my alarm ring taking me out of my trance. It was midnight. We need to move now.
I had packed the bags with some money and clothes.

I went to my room and looked at Lizzy sleeping. She deserved so much better. Baby steps, I guess.

"Come on, Lizzy." I shake her trying to steal her away from her picture perfect dream. "It's time to go."

"I'm doing the correct thing right?" She asked, still shaken by the occurrences, the uncertainty of such a situation had been quite a lot to take in for a simple girl like her.

"Yes, we are." I offered her a smile. She smiled but after realising what I just said it turned into a frown.

"No, no, no, not we, Al." She shook her head in absolute disapproval. "Me, don't drag yourself into this. They have done nothing to you. I know how much you hate being a rogue."

"Hurting you was what they did to me." I growled. "It doesn't matter. I'm coming along and no one can stop me."

She opened her mouth but I shoved some clothes her way shutting out any argument she had left.

We reached the border and we had one minute till the patrol would reach here so we needed to run and fast. I looked at Lizzy's black wolf and nodded my head.

I opened the mind link to the Alpha. Bye-Bye, Mr. Alpha. Just saying, your sister is innocent. You, of all people should have supported her. You say her mate would be disappointed but have you thought about what your parents would be if they knew about your actions towards your sister? Disappointed.

I cut off all ties with the pack. I felt a slight tug in my heart and a feeling of freedom.

I embraced it. We ran with all we had and were in safe distance from the pack when we heard a loud howl. Looks like the Alpha just got angry.

And this is how I, Alvina Peter Summers, was once again a rogue.
