Chapter 12
CHAPTER 12
TYLER’S P.O.V
I knew something was wrong. I knew it from starting when Roy told me to stay by her side. I knew every time she tried to talk to me but couldn’t find her words.
Now when Cassie made it so clear that even she knew the secret I had to find out whatever was going on. I grabbed her hand and started walking towards parking lot. She was shocked and didn’t know how to react but she realized that it was the time to spill the beans so she just followed me without a single word.
Val was curious too but he knew better and he left us alone. He left to find his girl who he had met few days before in a party.
I started the car and left for our special place. She sat silently and kept on watching her hands in her lap for whole journey.
Neither of us tried to talk as we both knew it was more important than anything else.
I had a bad feeling about this as she was trying her best to fight her tears back. I stopped the car and we walked to the beautiful meadow that was situated at one side.
“Ty…” she started but her voice shook and she sat down with her face covered with her palms.
“Talk to me, Munchkin. What happened?”
“I’m sick.” She blurted out and I sat in front of her. I pulled her hands away from her face and wiped the tears which were running down her rosy cheeks.
“I’m sick, Ty. I’m dying.” She said and everything came crashing down. She clutched my shirt tightly and sobbed in my chest. I was shocked and terrified when I heard that.
“No. you are kidding me right?” I was in denial.
“No. I need a heart transplant. I’m dying.” She whispered and I hugged her tightly.
“No, you can’t, okay? You just can’t.” tears were rolling down my face too. After some time, she sobered up and told me everything. I lost my mind and everything I just couldn’t keep up with whatever she was saying.
It was getting difficult with her confession. I was devastated, the girl I was in love with was dying and I was just sitting there bowling my eyes out. I wiped my tears and stood up,
“We are going to talk to my mom, okay? We will find a fucking donor and you will be okay. Do you hear me?”
“They have already tried, Ty. It’s of no use.”
“There is always a way, we will find one, I promise.” I pulled her towards me.
Currently we were driving back to my place. My mom was a doctor and I just wanted to tell her everything. I knew she would have something. I clutched steering wheel.
“When did you come to know about this?” I asked her.
“After we fell apart.” She whispered.
“I’m sorry.” I was guilty and I wanted to stab myself with a knife. Well, when she told me about her condition, it already felt like somebody stabbed me in the heart.
A small sob escaped her mouth. I looked at her and in that split second, someone came directly in front of us. I tried to regain the control of the car but there was another car which was coming straight towards us.
Before I knew, she threw herself in front of me. She hugged me tightly and the car collided on our side.
My head banged on the ceiling of car as it turned upside down. I heard her scream as glass ripped her skin. My head was banged up pretty badly and I was about to lose my consciousness.
Her head was in crook of my neck and before everything went blank, I heard a small whisper,
“I love you, Tyler.”
------------------------------------------------------
I opened my eyes and bright light blinded my vision. I groaned as pain shot through my whole body.
Damn it! I tried to open my eyes again when I heard some rushing coming from my room. Slowly, my vision was stable and I looked around. I was in hospital room.
I saw Mom standing there in front of me, she was smiling and her eyes were filed with tears.
“Oh god, you are awake.” She exclaimed and everything came back.
Her confession, driving, accident, she threw herself on me to protect, her scream and in the end those heartwarming words.
My mind jumped alarmed when I saw a nurse talking to my mom,
“Doctor, Miss Collins has lost a lot of blood and her heart condition is severe too. We need to move fast.”
My mother nodded. Before I could I ask her anything she kissed my forehead and left the room in emergency. Just then Val entered.
“Where is she? How is she?” I asked in jiffy.
Val hung his head low and a small tear fell from his eye.
“Val? Talk to me. Tell me how is she?” I was desperate to know.
“She is in coma. They are saying it’s critical as her heart is not stable.”
I gasped loudly and a tear rolled down my face. NO! No it can’t happen.
“Ty, stop. She will be all right.” Val came and hugged me.
“She saved me, Val. She protected me from whole impact. If it wasn’t her I would have been dead by now.” I cried.
“I know. Medic told us how they found you both. She was wrapped around you.”
“She told me she loved me.” I mumbled and Val pulled back.
He was flabbergasted.
“When I was losing it, she mumbled those words. I wanted to say it back so badly but I couldn’t.”
“Tyler, listen to me, Man she is strong. She will survive, trust me, she will.”
----------------------------------------------------
Four weeks later
It has been four weeks, she is out of danger but still not conscious. Mom told me that they found heart that matched with her and they did the transplant.
Now all were waiting for her to come back. I was desperate to see those brown eyes. Mr. and Mrs. William were there for whole time.
I was healed but I didn’t leave her side except for few times. It was a night time and I slept beside her. Her small body was covered in bruises but her face was still same.
I kissed her forehead and stayed there.
A small movement broke me from my trance as I looked at her.
“Hey.” She smiled at me and my eyes widened.
“Munchkin?” I was shocked but a relief washed over me. Before I knew, I was hugging her tightly like she was going to vanish in some air but she winced in pain and I realized how stupid I was being.
“I’m sorry. I’m just…” I was at the loss of words and just kissed her forehead again.
