A Lonely Hunter
Author's Note: Life tip; Don't watch OuaT YouTube videos that give you season one feels because you will end up crying and writing about Gremma and crying some more...
I guess this takes place sometime after the most recent episode, 5x18 'Ruby Slippers' and it's pretty much just some Gremma (Graham/Emma) feels
+*+*+
Emma pulled the hood of her windbreaker over her head and continued walking the path she had memorized what felt like forever ago. Her steps were swift and she could see her breath steaming despite the fact that she was in the Underworld. She vaguely wondered if it was ever actually hot in the Underworld. But she needed to focus on the task at hand. No one knew where she had gone and if she didn't hurry, her family would soon be worried.
Emma's feet stopped before her mind knew where she was and suddenly Emma's mind was taken back to several years ago. Before the curse was broken and before she had found several of people who now made up her family and closest friends. Emma forced herself back to the present and lifted her head so she could see the gravestone. His name was neatly carved on the dark grey stone that looked as if it was tinted red because of the sky. The grave was tipped over, which Emma had sort of expected considering James was supposedly the sheriff down here, but she could still easily read the huntsman's name.
Graham Humbert.
"Graham," she felt the word leave her lips before she could stop it. Her voice was quiet, but it pierced through the air as if it wasn't supposed to be there. But she spoke again anyways; "Graham."
Emma kneeled down and took her gloves off. She pressed her right hand against the cool rock and let a tear slip from her eye.
No, Emma tried to stop the tears, but after one fell, they just kept coming, no, please. I told myself I wouldn't break down. I told myself I would be strong. No, stop crying, Emma. Stop crying.
Tears continued to leak from the blonde's eyes and she could do nothing to put an end to them. And so she sat at the base of Graham's tipped gravestone and she cried. She cried for Graham and for Neal and for everyone else who had died since Henry had led her to Storybrooke.
Emma knew she had been in the cemetery for far too long, but she couldn't pry herself away from Graham's grave even long after all of her tears had dried.
"I'm sorry," she whispered to the grave, even though Graham was long gone and surely couldn't hear her. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you how I felt because I was scared. I'm sorry it had to end like this. And above all, I am so, so, sorry that I didn't believe you. Maybe if I had, I would still be able to talk to you in person. But for some reason, fate pulled us apart and now you're gone forever. I knew you wouldn't be here, and I am happy that you're some place better than this, but a small part of me was hoping you would still be down here so I could see you one last time," Emma admitted. She wiped a tear from her cheek. "I miss you, Graham. If you were here now, well," Emma let out a bitter laugh, "you'd now how much things have changed. But I sometimes wish I could go back to when you were with me and my biggest worry was if Henry was going to school instead of sneaking off to be with me," the blonde felt a sad smile creep across her face. "Things were so much simpler back then."
Emma slowly stood up and forced herself to turn her back on Graham's tipped over gravestone. She tugged her gloves back on and pulled her coat tighter around her so she was practically hugging herself. Emma retraced her steps back to the Underworld replica of her parents' apartment. Killian and David were surely worried by this point and arguing about what to do while Regina rolled her eyes and Henry plotted on how he could sneak out.
Emma exited the graveyard and shot one final glance in the direction of Graham's grave before heading to what had become her home for the past several weeks she had spent in the Underworld, hoping her eyes didn't look too red.
