Chapter Two

The weekend came and went quickly. With work and studying I had very little time to focus on anything else. Although I did get an hour or so of National Geographic in.

It was Monday morning and I was still in bed, reading emails and checking any notifications I got while asleep. I did not like to use my phone more than needed so I put it away after 15 minutes and hopped out of bed.

I turned on my coffeemaker and went to go wash my face while it started brewing. When I got back to my room I smiled a little to myself as the strong familiar aroma of coffee greeted me.

I got ready quickly all while sipping my coffee.
I only had about 5 minutes before I had to leave so I started shoving my books and studying material into my too small backpack. It was my favorite backpack though. It went everywhere with me. It was plain black and I got it a few years ago as a gift. At this point it was covered in patches, pins, drawings and paint.

I'll admit, i'm a nerd for reading so half the books I carried with me were just for pleasure and not class but to me they were just as important.
With one last glance in the mirror I locked the door behind me and headed out.

My first class of the day was Anthropology 240. It was one of my favorite classes that I have taken so far. I didn't really have any friends in the class, but the tall blonde dude who sat next to me asked to borrow paper frequently so that counts for something right?

It was a standard monday, I listened to the professor read off the slideshow presentation and took notes accordingly. He had a bit of a boring voice so it was hard not to zone out as he was droning on and on.

After Anthropology I had to head straight for English 200. English was one of the areas I was most interested in. Being a lover of reading, writing, poetry, etc. it wasn't much of a surprise. The English class I was currently in was definitely difficult, but I didn't mind as it was taught by my favorite professor.
Professor Preston Ferrell.

I had taken what feels like a million classes from him. Due to this, he knew me fairly well and always expected my best work.

We watched a short video in class and then analyzed it with the people sitting next to us. It was a fun day, as English 200 usually is. After the hour was up I said goodbye to the students I had been working with and started making my way back to my dorm room.

I had a block of free time before my last class of the day and heading home to eat some lunch sounded like just what I needed.

The walk from class to my room was always pretty. Well, on a beautiful old campus like this one, it was a pretty view just about everywhere but this time of day always caught me eye. I could never get enough of the bright sun overhead shining through the colored leaves and onto the sturdy brick buildings.

The rest of the day was uneventful. I had some pasta for lunch the read for a while out of one of my dumb conspiracy books, before heading out again for Criminal Law 266. After class I went home once again to relax for a bit before deciding what I needed to do with the rest of the day.

I was lounging on my bed with my laptop in my lap when my phone rang. It was my friend Harrison, who I know from working in the library.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Harp! Hey!" He greeted me.

"What's up?" I said.

"Did you hear about that scandal?" He asked.

"Uh no...what scandal?" I was curious.

"A professor in the STEM department just got fired out of the blue. They won't release why but there has been some crazy speculation." He said. "Some students saw a couple of guys in hazmat suits carrying bins out of the science building!" He added.

"Woah, what was in the bins?" I replied.

"No idea. Nobody could see." He said. "We should figure out what happened"

"Oh yeah? how do you plan to do that?" I said with a laugh, "you love drama way too much".

"Uhhh...umm...Im not sure yet okay?" He replied.

I laughed again.

"Okay whatever i'm changing the subject. Listen you're not doing anything right now so meet me at the library, I want coffee" He said.

"Hey, how do you know i'm not doing anything?"

There was silence on the line.

"Okay you suck I'll see you in 15" I spoke again and then hung up before he could get another word in.

With that I put my boots and a jacket on and was heading out the door to meet Harrison shortly after.
