Chapter Two
Hey everyone! Hope your holidays were amazing and your Christmas and New Year were incredible with your family and friends :D
This is the start of book 3, the final installment to this werewolf series, 'Behind Broken Eyes' and I hope you guys enjoy this! This one, I think, is going to be the most emotional... Yup.
For clarification - Silver Creek is the town that this story is set in. It's in the same territory as the Silver Pack, run by Alpha Bella! I'm currently editing BCG now and I've changed the location of the story so it suits the plot better, and BBE is being written in the new location because it's easier for me to write it that way. Sorry if this confuses you :(
Let me know what you think of this chapter in the comments!

P.S. The video link has nothing to do with the story, it was the first song I listened to in 2016 and I love it to bits <3

Location: Silver Creek Motel
Even with the straining of her left leg, Rebekah calmly entered her flat. Placing the keys into a bowl, she merely stood in the entrance, surveying her home with a sigh. It was nothing, barely a room, but since her ex-husband took the house she was left to this rust-bucket.
It had only been a couple of months since the day she broke her leg. The day the red-eyed vampire told her Peter about the monsters of the world. The day she last saw her husband and daughter, and the same day she started to fight for them.
Rebekah limped towards a patchy sofa and fell onto the pillows. Letting her hair loose, the former detective merely sat and listened to the traffic outside. A hand fell on the knee-brace she wore.
In the two months that had occurred since that day, a lot had happened. Peter had filed for divorce and was fighting for Jemima to be put into the foster care system. Rachael... Raven... She was still in her coma from the alleged encounter with the Moon Goddess. Queen Seraphina and King Elliot were expecting a son, but Seraphina was distraught with Raven's comatose state - the Goddess was silent.
For her, she was off duty until her leg healed. The NYPD Precinct was incredibly apologetic, completely oblivious to the truth of her situation and thought her divorce had resulted in her wild actions and broken leg, and had given her service leave until she was fit for duty.
In the two months that her leg was healing, she and her lawyer were battling Peter in the divorce. Since Peter found out about Rebekah's wolf world and their daughter's inhuman nature, he had been telling his lawyer that both he and Rebekah were deemed unfit to raise Jemima. Rebekah was fighting for custody of her. Wolves belong in packs, and not belong alone.
Rebekah dumped the bag she brought in on the table, files and contracts from her lawyer being tossed about in their paper sleeves. Her dark gold eyes turned sad as she realised that she, forever, had lost the love of her life. Peter was her mate when she had her wolf. Peter was her husband when she lost her wolf. Peter was the father of her child, her beautiful Jemima who bared a wolf.
Peter was the breaker of her heart.
Rebekah clenched her jaw as her emotions got the better of her. She was a strong and independent wolf who had been through the life of a human, seen how cruel they could be from her cases. She had done so much for her beautiful daughter - Rebekah was brave. Selfless. Determined. Rebekah Morgan... Rebekah Hunt, now. Whatever name she bore, she was a fighter.
A stray tear slipped out of her eye but her gaze didn't weaken. I am a fighter.
The detective looked at the files on her desk, and tried to light the blue file on fire with her eyes. The rage in her core was cataclysmic. Rebekah could feel her eyes burn from hatred on the blue folder.
It was everything she had on the red-eyed vampire... The last vampire, known to her as the bastard who threatened her life in exchange for telling the Royals that all the vampires were gone.
I'll be free - those were the last words he had said to her before he left the room submerged by shadows. No one else knew about the new Vampire Master's existence. No one else knew that he had forced Rebekah's hand to hide his life. That left it her mess to clean up. It was horrible to have that burden but now she had two things to fight for.
Jemima Morgan, her beautiful daughter.
And the wolf world - again.
Picking up the dark blue folder, she looked through the documents and pictures she had. There were only three files in the sleeve and as great a detective as Rebekah was, she couldn't find another connection.
There was a security camera shot of the vampire in the hospital, just moments before he had entered her ward. No wolf had scented him because he had wondered through the human floor, the floor she had been on, and there were too many scents to pick out. If you were looking for a vampire, you would smell, but Rebekah's nose wasn't strong enough anymore and all the wolves thought that vampires were officially extinct. The red-eyed vampire had mouse-brown hair that sprung into curls and menacing blood eyes that gleamed with each step he took. He had a toned build, and to the human eye he blended in too easily. He was anyone. The vampire was average by looks so he could blend in anywhere.
Rebekah scanned the other two documents - a copy of the sign-in sheet for visitors at the hospital, a copy of the fake name he put down. The other document was a list of things Rebekah picked up on while he was at her ward. Right-hand dominant. Scar on left cheekbone. Slight limp in his lower left leg. Bore a necklace - unknown under sleeves. Armed with two knives strapped to thighs.
Rebekah looked at her list with rage and annoyance before slamming the folder back down. She'd gone through security footage. She'd gone through police archives. She'd gone through the hunter and wolf files they had on vampires.
Nothing: the red-eyed vampire was a mystery. No file on him, no photo, absolutely no information besides what Rebekah had and knew.
He had handed his vampire brothers over to Elijah and Thalia when they went to rescue Raven for the second time. He had let Rebekah live, twice, and hadn't destroyed her family physically. The vampire had tried to stop his two accomplices from killing Greg and Kelly.
She couldn't ask anything else without arousing suspicion - what did Thalia see when she looked into Buchannan's doctor's mind? The vampire doctor who performed a majority of the experiments on Raven? What about where the red-eyed vampire was during the battle for their races which stained the soil of the Royal Castle red? What was his role in Raven's experimentation and kidnapping?
Rebekah rubbed her temples as a headache brewed in the back of her mind. There were too many loose ends. Too many questions with too many answers. She had to find the vampire, if she could do at least one thing right in her life. Rebekah had lost enough, and was hoping on vengeance on the vampire's death will make her sleep at night.
The only person she could really contact was Lara Knight. One of two wolves under Princess Thalia Griffin's command. She used to have a whole pack of wolves alongside her, but the vampire war broke out. Lara Knight was a Warrior, and incredibly good at what she did. She was part of the trio who broke out Queen Seraphina from her metal cage of the human zoo. Lara was an incredible werewolf.
She was there when Thalia delved into the mind of the vampire doctor before killing him. Knight might have heard something, and Rebekah, for some reason, felt the urge to reach out to her. She wasn't sure if it was because they'd both lost their mates or because Rebekah hadn't heard from her in two months.
Lara's mate Greg had been butchered by the two accomplices under the red-eyed vampire's command - he was a smart Hunter under Elijah Griffin, the merciless leader of the hunters and Princess Thalia's mate and husband. While Greg was being attacked by two vampires, the red-eyed survivor had tried to stop his death.
With that information, Lara Knight might help Rebekah in return for not telling Thalia, or anyone, about the lie she had told in exchange for her own life.
Rebekah was so incredibly tired for fighting for others. She wanted to fight for herself, and do something for herself - once she'd ridden the world of the red-eyed vampire, she was done. She was going to raise her daughter in a quiet part of the woods under Alpha Bella Woods' rule. Bella and her understood each others human instincts, so the Alpha was best suited for Jemima's childhood. Rebekah had it all planned. She just had to persuade Peter to give her custody so she could do it.
The only other thing standing in her way was the red-eyed vampire...
He was a threat to the wolf world. And it was up to her to stop him.
