Chapter : 2

Jessica's P.O.V. :

I tossed and turned in my bed, finding it really hard to sleep.

An hour of tossing around the bed and still no sleep.

I decided to get up and have a glass of water.
Flicking my bed-side lamp on, I gulped down some water before resting the glass back in its place.

I opened the drawer from my bed-side table and took out my journal.

The journal which had so many beautiful yet painful memories in each of its pages, written with so much of contentment.

I opened the pages of the memoir with utmost delicacy, afraid to tear the pages apart just like my heart did, to relive those beautiful moments again, which once were the most beautiful part of my life, and now which only remained as those scars, which I could never heal.

*Flashback*

"Jess, I'm going to get you!" He yelled as he chased me along the shore of the beach.

The sky was painted in a beautiful shade of orange, pink, blue and red, bringing out the best in it.

The birds chirped in an alluring manner, as if they enjoyed our presence in the beach.

It was just me and him, having the best time of our lives.

"No, you can't Ash! I'm never gonna lose to you!" I panted, but still ran as fast as I could, taking longer strides.

"Jess Jess Jess Jess Jess!" He ran faster and held me from back before I could run further causing imbalance and making us both fall in the subtle waves of the ocean.

"Ahhh my god the water is cold!" I shrieked as we surfaced the water which pinned my body like several needles.

"Don't worry, I'm right here." His voice was so soothing and comforting.

I could feel the warmth radiating off his toned body which made me feel comfortable in the water immediately.

He slipped an arm around my waist and slowly pulled me closer, resting his chin on top of my head.

"Much better." I murmured as I closed my eyes, breathing in his enchanting perfume scent mixing with the breeze of air making it seem more fresh.

We stayed like that for a few more minutes before he pulled away.

"Hey," I opened my eyes and before I could say anything, he cupped my face in the most gentle manner and kissed my forehead.

It made my heart flutter, I could feel the butterflies swarming inside my stomach at the touch of him.

He lowered his head slowly and kissed my nose.

It made me giggle.

"What huh?" He chuckled as he pulled me even more close, the sky darkening and the birds returning to their homes.

"It's cute, that's all." I smiled and his own lips curled up to display the most beautiful smile I had ever seen.

As soon as these words left my mouth, he started gushing.

"Aww Jess, you love it when I kiss your nose, don't you?" He gushed as he kissed my nose again.

I blushed furiously, and I'm pretty sure my cheeks turned a shade of crimson.

I bit my lower lip gently and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear which fell on my face.

As I looked up at him, I could see his eyes in a beautiful shade of hazel because of the reflection of the sunset in his eyes.

Those beautiful eyes held in so much of emotion which made my heart melt.

I was putty in his hands, and my brain had no control over my heart whenever I was with him.

He tilted his head slightly to the left and kept lowering his head until our lips were merely an inch apart.

Our lips lightly brushed, sending tingles all over my body.

I closed my eyes, already aware of what was going to happen next.

His lips landed on mine and everything stopped right then and there.

Nothing else mattered that time.

His lips were so soft against mine, sending shivers up my spine as he held me closer while my hands made its way to his dishevelled hair, slightly wet because I had been splashing him.

This was the only reason he was chasing me in this beautiful beach in the south-west of Los Angeles. Because I had been splashing him.

Our kiss deepened, he gently glided his tongue over my lips.
I tugged at his hair delicately and heard him moan against my lips.
I parted my lips allowing him to survey my mouth and as his tongue touched mine, both of our tongues battled for dominance.

His grip around me tightened as I pulled him towards me, as if that was even possible now that our bodies were completely pressed against each other's.

Our lips molded perfectly against each other like the two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

The kiss intensified but before it could go any further, the sky decided to cool down the heat from our kiss and poured down at us.

We both pulled apart and looked at the sky and then looked at each other, his eyes boring deep into my soul.

"Ash it's raining." I smiled as he gently pecked my lips again.

"I love you, Jess." He confessed, his look serious, yet his eyes brimming with love and concern.
Love and concern for me.

In that moment, I realised that I fell really hard for him and there was no going back.

*Flashback Ends*

I didn't know for how long I stayed like that, tears slipping away from my eyes like that of a waterfall, never ending.

I traced my fingers on the picture of me and him in my journal, our faces glowing with happiness.

I couldn't feel that emotion again because I was totally numb from all the pain he had caused me.

A final tear slipped from my eye, landing on the photo and dripping till the words written by us, "Forever & Always".

The ink must not have been waterproof because as soon it came in contact with the salty water, it started fading away.
Just like our relationship.

The day I realised I fell for him was the day I decided to wreck my life with my own hands.

I closed the journal and put it back in the drawer.

Turning the lamp off, I wondered what did I do to push him away from me.
So far away that we could never be together again.

Maybe 'Us' was not a word in my life.

Trailing my mind back to the memories, I didn't realise when my eyes gave in and I dozed off.
