CHAPTER-20

Pauline June's POV

I stared at dad, who is sitting in front of me.

"I know it's all sudden and it is shock to you. But I quit the job here. I want to spend more time my daughter, which is not happening due to this job", he said and stopped talking looking at my reaction.

"And...?", I asked for him to continue.

"I got a job in New York. It's a good job. Pays better than the job I left. I can also spend more time with my princess", he explained. I just sat there in silence. I am really happy that dad quit his job just to spend more time with me. But I am sad too that I have to leave Nick. Our relationship just took a new bend last night and I don't want to ruin it. I love him.

"Dad, I am so happy that you took such a big step for me, but I am in love with Nick. I can't leave him", I said worriedly. He looks at me surprised.

"Oh. I didn't know you both are so serious about each other", he said and I smiled at him thinking about Nick.

"Yes we are. Nick is so sweet. He is the best boyfriend dad. I don't want to loose him", I voiced my worry.

"I am sorry Princess that I didn't ask your opinion", he apologized.

"It's okay dad. I will talk things out with Nick. I am sure we can sort something out. Nick will understand. Also he said that he is appyling to the business college in New York. So, if he gets it, everything will be good", I assured him. Dad grinned.

"Superd then. Go get ready. It's already seven thirty. We should start by eight", dad said while getting up and going to his room. I grinned too.

"Okay dad", I said while going up the stairs to my room.

"Oh and Princess.... the packing is almost done. By the time we come back home everything will be on the truck to be parcled to New York. So keep important things with you", he said from downstairs.

"Okay", I said and went inside my room.

I took my towel and went inside the bathroom. I showered and came out with a towel around me and went inside the closet. All my normal clothes are packed in boxes. I pulled out a dark blue jeans and a white button shirt with a floral print. I wore my ineers and wore the clothes that I took out. I combed my hair and let it fall down . I took a look at myself in the mirror.

I smiled at msyelf and wore a pair of normal shoes. I went downstairs and dad is already there. he heard my footsteps and turned back. He looked at me while I came downstairs and smiled at me while looking at me with a proud look on his face.

"Come here", he said while opening his arms. I went and hugged him. He hugged me back while patting my back. I pulled away and he kissed my fore head.

"Dad?", I asked him as to why he is being so emotional.

"It's like just yesterday I was holding your tiny body in my arms and you are already graduating", he said smiling. I smiled and he patted my head.

We both got out and got in his car. I am happy that dad is here on my graduating day. We are soon at the school and I got a call from Nick as we parked the car.

"Nick?", dad asked while looking at my phone that is ringing. I nodded my head and answered it.

"Hey!", I said into the phone.

"Hey Baby girl! Where are you? Did you come to school? Or are you on the way?", he asked fastly. I smiled at his questions.

"We just came. We parked the car", I informed him while getting out of the car. Dad did too and locked the doors.

"Okay. I will be there in a minute", he said and hung up before I can say anything.

"Nick said he will come here", I told dad and dad smiled at me.

"Baby", I heard Nick's voice and turned my head to my right side to see him jogging to me in his white shirt and black pant with a black tie, looking handsome like always. he came to me and hugged me.

"Hey", I said and he kissed my lips lightly. Before he can deepen the kiss, I pulled away. I don't want to make out with him in front of my dad. Nick turned to my left side and saw dad.

"Hi sir!", Nick said smiling at dad. Dad smiled at him too.

"Thank you for taking care of my daughter when I am away young man", he said patting Nick's shoulder.

"It's a pleasure sir".

"How many times do I have to say to call me Brad".

"Um.... Okay Brad", Nick said hesitatingly.

"You kids go. I will go and sit where all the parents will", dad said and left. We saw dad disappear and Nick put his hand around my shoulder and pulled me with him.

"Let's go", he said while taking me with him and we reached where all the students are sitting. Nick held my hand and made me sit beside him. Nick sat to my right and I felt someone beside to my left. I turned my head and saw Ryan, Cesar and other Nick's friends. I smiled at them and waved at them a little.

"Hey Beautiful!", Ryan said, putting a hand around my shoulder.

"Hey Ryan!", I greeted, but I felt being pulled closer to Nick by his hands around my waist and Ryan's hand is harshly pushed away from my shoulder.

"Just fuck off! How many times do I have to tell you not to call her Beautiful?! Also keep your hands to yourself! Don't touch her!", Nick said irritated.

"It's okay Nick. What's so big deal in it?", I said rubbing his arm to cool him down, which seems to work a little.

"Just leave him alone and come to me when he bothers you. He is being over possessive and jealous", Ryan said waving the matter off.

"You-", Nick started. I cut him off.

"Nick, stop it. He is just joking. You know it too. The inagoration is going to start", I said and kissed his cheek to calm him.

The ceremony soon started the chief guests and the principal gave speeches. It's all soon over. But Jane who sat in a two rows in front from us is giving me glares turning back. I just ognored her. Nick held my hand the whole time. Some students gave speeches too. Once it's all over, we all stood up and everyone threw their black cap into air shouting loudly.

I am looking at the sky and Nick kissed me. I looked at him.

"I love you", he said looking into my eyes.

"I love you too", I said and he kissed me. I heard a click and felt a flash on us. I pulled away from Nick and saw that it is Ryan who took a picture of us. He smiled at us.

"You both are so cute together", he cooed. He came to me and gave Nick the camera while putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Dude?", Nick asked.

"Snap a picture of us, so I can remember this that the I got a picture with the school's beautiful nerd who made the school's bad boy to fall for her hard", he teased Nick and I giggled. Nick shook his head and took a picture of us, where in the last minute Ryan kissed my cheek at the time the flash snapped. Nick glared at Ryan angrily and threw the phone at him.

"Nick!", I warned.

"He kissed you!", Nick almost whined with anger.

"Quit it dude. She is like a sister to me", Ryan said.

"Still! You don't have to!", he said while rubbing m cheek where Ryan kissed. Cesar is laughing at Nick. I shook my head at his childish behaviour.

"I am going to the washroom", I said to Nick and he nodded his head before pulling me to him and kissing me fully on my lips. He grinned at me and I grinned back at him.

"I will be waiting for you. Come soon", he said looking into my eyes.

"Okay", I said and parted from him.

I kept smiling to myself and reached the bathroom door. I went inside and did my job. I came out of teh stall and washed my hands. I opened the bathroom door and came out. I felt someone grab my hand and looked up to see it's Jane. I huffed.

"What do you want now Jane?", I asked her while looking at her.

"I don't want anything from a looser like you. I am just here to say that Nick really doesn't love you and he will leave you soon. Heart broken that too. You are just a bet to him. That's it", she said while looking at me with disgust.

"Over? Or is there anything left?", I asked her with my arms crossed near my chest and I have a bored expression on my face.

"It's true! Why don't you believe?!".

"Why should I? Nick loves me truly! I love him too! Why would he do something like that?!".

"Really? He loves you? Like I am going to believe it. Look at you. A pathetic looser. Why would even go for you? A nothing. Believe me or not. I am saying truth", she said and walked away.

I rolled my eyes at her. Everything she says is stupid. I won't believe her. My Nick would never do that. I love him and he loves me. We are both in love with each other. No one can seperate us.

I walked out and went to the ground. I started to go near Nick when I saw him surrounded with his friends. I smiled while walking towards him. I can hear what they are talking.

"Where is Pauline? Why didn't she still come?", Nick asked Ryan worried. I smiled more wider. He is already missing me.

"Dude calm down. Give her sometime", Ryan said.

Nick looked tense though.

"Speaking of her, what about the bet?", Ryan asked. Bet? what bet are they talking about which involved me? I almost got closer to them.

"I won. Not that I care about it. Stop talking about it. I talked about it with you just today morning", Nick said and Ryan laughed.

"So, I bet you guys did it last night. I can see the way she looks at you and how she blushes", Cesar said.

"Yeah, I saw that too", Ryan said. Nick just grinned, btu didn't say anything.

"What happened to breaking heart after the deed is over?", Cesar asked.

I stood there with shock. My mouth is hanging open. Breaking my heart? Also the bet? It means that Jane is saying truth all this time? No! It can't happen! Nick is not like that. I know he loved me! but they are talking about last night, which means.... No! I didn't hear what they are talking about while thinking. I stopped walking and heard their words.

"Also she is just a pathetic nerd who is just a bet for you, right?", Cesar said.

Hearing those words, I turned back as tears fell down on my cheeks continuously. That's it! I can't hear anymore. Without looking back, I ran off from there till two minutes, wanting to get out of their sight.

So, Jane is right all along! I.... I am just a bet to him! Whom he wanted to fuck? Then break my heart?! How cruel?! But why didn't I see any of it? I am such a fool all this time! He doesn't need to say anything to break my heart. It's already broken. I feel like I am betrayed.

Oh God no! Why is this hurting so much?!

I loved him and he just used me! I am just a toy for him all the while! I thought he really loved me! He just wanted to take my virginity! Urggh....! I trusted him! I believed him! No! No! No! NO! I can feel my heart breaking into pieces. Oh God, help me!

I feel so betrayed! So helpless! So.... so hurt! Why is this all happening? I feel wetness on my cheeks. I wiped my tears away, but they are falling again non-stop. Why wouldn't they stop? I wiped my cheeks again. I am feeling like someone ran a bulldozer over me. I am feeling like my heart is ripped out painfully and being crushed again and again. It's so paining.

Why Nick?! Why play with my heart?! Just for a stupid bet?! Am I nothing to you?! I fell on my knees and I am happy that no one is around me to see me like this. I put my head in my hands, still shocked. I still can't believe I heard those words. I let the tears fall and let out a sob that is built in my throat.

I heard my phone ringing and that it is a call from Nick. I ignored it. My phone rang again and it's him again. I cut it off this time. I saw a message from dad.

Princess, where are you? I am at the back.

I rubbed my face and stood up. I put my phone in my pocket and started walking to the back of the crowd where dad is there. My phone rang again and I pulled it out to see that it's Nick. I huffed and held it with my hand. I walked to the back and found dad. He grinned at me as he saw me and opened his arms. I ran to him and hugged him tightly.

I can't stop the tears which automatically started falling. I felt comfort holding him. He is the only person who loves me back selflessly. He is the only person whom I can trust with my life. Dad must have noticed this. He pulled me back and looked at my tear streaked face. He held my face looking at me worridely. He wiped my tears.

"Princess are you okay?", he asked me. I shook my head as tears start to fall.

"No", I said in a whisper and my bottom lip trembled. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hands.

"What happened? Why are you crying? Wait. Where is Nick?", he asked while holding me by my shoulders. I see two to three people looking at me and I wiped my face. I looked up at dad in his eyes.

"Dad, please take me home", I asked, almost begged him, not wanting to answer any questions. He nodded his head and held me close as we started walking towards the car. I put my head down while walking.

There is so much crowd, that some are even lightly bumping into us. Then I heard someone calling my name and turned back to look. I found Nick walking towards us. He is calling me while walking to me as the people in the crowd are bumping into him. He is looking at me smiling. Our eyes met and he saw the tears that are forming in my eyes and his smile faded away.

I turned back and a sob left my mouth. I put my hand over my mouth covering it. I heard Nick calling to me, but I ignored him. Dad saw what happened, but didn't say anything. We got to the car and sat in. I heard my phone ring in my hand and looked at it to see that it's Nick. I rubbed my nose with the back of my hand and felt my dad watching me. I answered.

"Hello", I said in a low voice.

"Hey! Baby girl! Are you okay? Where are you? Why did you go away when you saw me there? Is everything all right?", he asked rushedly.

"Goodbye Nicolas", I said and cut off the call before putting my face in my hands to stop myself from crying.

It's over! Everything is over!
