Chapter 22 - The Vision

-warning. Mentions of strangling and killing.-

-I want to apologize in advance. I'm trying to discover new ways of writing, I hope what I write isn't too much.-

The room spins, dancing colours blur Reetha's vision. Gasping she shoots up from her bed. Gripping tightly on her blankets as if trying to hold on to something, just anything, to ground her in reality. Sweat beads on her forehead, frightful eyes glace at every dark corner of her room. Tears streamed down her face as she sat alone in her quarters. The hum of an engine told her that she was still on Master Plo's flagship.

In a second when she blinks her eyes close, what feels like hours upon hours, she sees deathly visions that plagued her once again.

---

She feels her feet walking on wet floors, the cold liquid seeping between her bare toes. Her eyes burn with fury and hate and adrenaline. She runs her tongue over her teeth, a sickening smile plastered on her face.

"N-No! Please no!" a man calls out.

"Don't do this! Please!" another shouts pleadingly but Reetha laughs manically. Fiddling on the metal object in her hand until she comes across a button and presses it, emitting a radiating heat. Red light immediately illuminates the dark room.

She crouches down and grasps the chin of the first person, tilting her head to the side and studying the man's brown eyes. "You, look familiar..." She muses.

The man chokes on his words, his eyes full of fear and sympathy. "We-We are your-"

Before the man can complete the sentence Reetha moves her hand to his throat and pushes him against the cold floor harshly. He chokes on his breath as his hands desperately try to pry hers off.

"Don't you dare finish those words! I don't live by lies." She seethes and hisses baring her teeth. Although the red light from the lightsaber illuminates the room, it is only enough for her and himself to make out certain features on each other's faces.

"Please Vod'ika, look at what you're doing!" the other man her speaks up. She doesn't divert her attention to him so he takes it upon himself to throw his body on hers and manages to push her off his brother, then proceeds to stand in front of him protectively.

The force of the push was strong enough to push Reetha down on her feet and successfully knocking down her lightsaber. The man scrambles forward for the lightsaber and holds in up defensively. "Are you okay, brother?" He looks at the other man who is finally able to breathe properly. He nods and is about to reply only to be cut off by the agitated scream from the girl in front of them.

"Stay down. I got this." The man wills to speak in a shaky voice. Reetha growls and her eyes scan the two clones before her. Standing up, she takes heavy steps growing closer to the two men.

"You stand with the lightsaber, protectively, and yet I still sense fear. It's disgusting on you." Reetha spat at the man's feet.

"Don't come any closer! I-I will kill you if I have to!"

Reetha walked until she was just about a foot away from him. "You can't kill me even if you wanted to." She mocks. "You can try. I won't stop you. But as I said, you couldn't even if you tried." She stalks closer to the two men then allows her eyes to fall on the other one behind.

Looking as him intensely she extends the Force to search his emotions. She felt his fear, frustration, and great sadness and sympathy. "I don't want your sympathy. You, disgust me!" Reetha throws a hand forwards and pushes the clone onto the wall of the room and held him in place.

"NO! NO, NO NO!" He shouts and lunges at Reetha with the lightsaber, bringing it down hard on her right shoulder but she sidesteps and he misses her by mere inches. With the second hand, she pushes him off to the side, making her lightsaber to fall off his hands and to the ground. He grunts in pain and his body crumbles to the ground.

Turning her attention to her other victim, Reetha steps up closer to him. Her grip in the Force increasing around his throat.

"S-st-stop-p! Ree- Plea-se!" He begs. "Reetha please!" He manages before his breath cut off again.

Reetha closes in on him and drags him down to the floor in front of her. Crouching down, she scans his face. Something suddenly clicks in her as she tries to make out the full image of his face. Summoning her lightsaber to her side, she ignites it and brings it dangerously close in the small space between her face and his.

Squinting her eyes as they adjust to the light, Reetha suddenly gasps and releases her Force grip. The man drops to the ground and shakily draws in heavy, ragged breaths and recoils away from her.

Reetha falls backwards onto the floor but her hands that brace her immediately recoil from the wet floor. "What?"

---

My heart races in my chest. Where am I? I see a red light and suddenly I am made aware of the man I struggling to breathe in front of me. It takes less than a second before I realize that I was the one choking him. Shocking myself I release him from my grip and fall backwards from the realization of what I had been doing. I hear him taking in desperate breaths as he curls into a ball away from me.

A wet sensation on the palms of my hands makes me look down. I gasp and choke on my breath when I realize the floors covered in blood. I scrunch my nose at the other senses in my body flare-up. I smelt the strong iron in the blood, I tasted it in the air, I felt my mind going over a million questions a second. "I-Where? I-"

The man on the floor before me coughs and pulls me away from my thoughts. I go cold and still when I see for myself, who I was strangling before. My heart drops to my feet and it felt like time suddenly slowed down. My body shivered, tears pricked my eyes.

"W-Wolffe?" I gaped at the clone and covered my mouth with my bloodied hand. "Wolffe" I whispered in a shaky breath.

Blinking myself out of my shock I scrambled towards him.

"N-NO! Stay back!" Wolffe recoiled from me.

"Wolffe, Wolffe it's me." I stopped just inches away from him.

"NO!" Wolffe raised his hand to stop me from coming anymore closer to him. "YOUR A MONSTER!"

I shook my head and panicked. "I-Wolffe I'm sorry. I-I don't know-I- Sorry.." Tears spilt over my eyes blurring my vision.

"I said, GET AWAY FROM ME!" Wolffe lunged forwards and tackled me to the ground.

"UH! Wol-ffe" I struggled under Wolffe but he was too strong for me.

I swung my legs over him and spun my hips and pushed him on the floor. "Wolffe!"

He pushed a hand on my face and placed one at my throat, choking me. He yelled and pushed me off and under him again. I saw him reach for his blaster and he aimed it at my face.

Quickly, I pushed him off me with the Force. "Snap out of it!"

"Don't talk, Jedi scum!" Another voice came from behind me.

"Rex.."

Before I could fully process what happened, the room shook violently and started to twist and turn, sending everything tumbling and turning. I tried to balance myself but was knocked down and fell on my back when the ground under me shifted to the ceiling. The blood from the wall begun dripping down like rain onto my face.

I groaned and slowly shifted to sit. Looking up, I came to realize that Wolffe and Rex had disappeared. I drew in a few breaths to calm my rapidly beating heart. I felt a headache coming along, but it was not from, whatever it was that just happened.

"Reetha..."

Still sitting down, I up to find my name echoing off the walls of the hallowed halls of the Jedi temple, only this time, it was on fire. Panic struck straight in my soul. The Jedi Temple is on fire.

I stood up hastily and began to run down the halls all while the world spun around me, making dizzy and nauseous. I grunted as my vision turned fuzzy.

"Reetha...." I heard my name again. Something calls to me.

I kept on running despite the dizzying effect of the echoing call of my name constantly ringing in the background.

More and more sounds and voices join in, just adding to the hurt in my brain.

"Help me!"

"The Jedi are taking over."

"When have I ever let you down."

"-And if we must, lay our lives for victory."

"I'm not just another number! None of us are!"

"It-It's here. It's all in here!"

"Find him! Fives!"

"Ex-e-execute! Execute! Execute..."

My head tilted to one side making me wince and lean heavily on a pillar. All those voices, all echoing in around me at the same time. I slumped down and held my head to my chest.

'What's happening to me?' I cried as I clenched my teeth to drown out my pain.

A sharp pain met my shoulder making me cry out in pain.

"You are under arrest by the Galactic Empire."

Looking up, I saw clone troopers whose armour were painted in grey running down the halls towards me. Leading the platoon, was non-other than Wolffe. For a moment I sighed in relief. Picking myself up, was more than prepared to run and hug Wolffe and ask him if he was okay and apologize my heart out because I strangled him.

"Kill the Jedi!" He shouted as his men began to shoot at me.

I skidded to a halt and began to back away slowly. "Wolffe! Wolffe, it's me, Reetha!"

"We have special orders to terminate the traitor, Jedi  Reetha Khan. Any or all clones who disobey this command will be executed alongside the traitor."

Another blast narrowly missed my face. I began running down the hallways of the temple. I could hear the Wolffe ordering the Pack to hunt me down. Not being able to process everything I just continued to run away from them as fast as I could.

The fires continued to rage on, burning the silky curtains of the temple and reducing them to nothing but ashes.

Turning hard left I saw an open door and ran into it. The atmosphere darkened immediately and I felt a heaviness drop on my shoulders. In front of me stood a man, a Jedi, but something about him was terribly off. Looking across him, I noticed that the room was full of younglings.

One blonde-haired youngling spoke but I could not hear anything from him. The next thing I knew, the Jedi ignited his lightsaber and began to slaughter the younglings.

"NO!" I moved in front to stop him but blaster bolts rained at my feet, forcing me back away. Deflecting the bolts, I looked back into the room only to see the Jedi leaving. On the floor were the lifeless bodies of the younglings.

I walked into the room. My legs trembling. 'Who would do this?' My heart clenched and my anger rose.

Stumbling out of the room, I felt the temple shift again. I lost my footing and fell facedown.

"Stand down. You are under arrest for treason against the Republic." I felt the cold metal of a blaster at my neck. Two pairs of hands grasped roughly at both of my arms and hauled me off the floor.

At this point, I didn't want to fight back anymore. After what I saw, I just could not comprehend what happened. A commanding modulated voice demanded me to look forward. Closing my eyes, I did as the clone said.

"You're a traitor commander. You will be dealt with as one." It was Rex. I could tell by his infamous Jaig eyes.

I looked at him with defeated eyes. "Rex, please. I have done nothing. You would know that I would never betray the Republic."

Rex didn't move nor did he speak. He aimed his gun at me.

"Rex, please." I felt my tears falling down my face. I didn't care that the clones were there. I didn't care that I was now standing in a burning temple, surrounded by death and destruction.

"Rex I would never betray the Republic. I would never betray you. You're my brother, Rex. All of you are." I shouted out despite the pain in my throat.

For a moment as I cried, I heard sniffling coming from the man in front of me. Rex was crying. I looked into his visor, wanting to see at least a glimpse of my brother's eyes.

"I'm s-sorry, Reetha."

My eyes widened when I felt a painful sensation go right through my chest. My breath hitched as I drew in painful breaths. The clones still held me up, but my eyes were still trained on Rex's visor. 'I forgive you, Ayiya.' My eyes closed, I slowly succumbed to the blood loss and my vision darkened.

---

Sitting motionless on her bed,  Reetha opens her eyes. She reached a hand to touch her face, fingers hovering under her eyes, feeling her tears soak her fingertips. It was just a dream, she kept reminding herself but failed.

If it was a dream, it was too vivid and too realistic. Reetha knew and remembered every little detail about it. She remembered the clear screams as her Jedi companions fell beside her. She could feel the heat of the blaster bolts as it flew past her skin. She remembered all too well the pain in her chest when, when she got shot. It had to be a vision, right?

Pushing her bedsheets aside, Reetha made her way over to the fresher. Turning on the tap at the sink, she splashed her face with cold water, hoping that its iciness would ground her in reality. Reetha met her reflection on the mirror.

She was tired and worn out, physically and mentally. Silently she thanked the Force that none of the Wolffe pack was with her. They would have freaked, especially Comet.

After shuffling around in her room, Reetha walked out of her room. The corridor of the Triumphant was empty since the troopers and most of the flight officers were sleeping. She did wake up in the middle of the night. Tugging on the sleeves of her robes, she went to the mess hall. It was empty, perfect for her to loosen up and think alone.

Something was up, she didn't know what, but she was determined to find out what it was. No matter how long it would take. If something is going to threaten her family, she will go beyond the stars to protect them.
