Chapter 1:
Greenlight rose from her nest and stretched, her mind still tired from her abrupt wake from sleep. Her fluffy white pelt was unkempt and had small twigs and bits of moss tangled within it. She heard a chuckle behind her and turned to see her littermate Blizzardwinter, his yellow eyes light with laughter.
"You look like you've been dragged out a bush backwards." He mrrowed, his whiskers twitching in amusement.
Greenlight narrowed her eyes, "Well you look like something that came out of a bird's butt." She said with a playful hiss. And without giving him a chance to respond, Greenlight padded out of the Warrior's Den once she was a few tail-lengths from the entrance, she sat down and began to groom her thick white pelt. She felt a presence near her and looked over to see Beechnose. "May I help you?" She asked the younger tom politely.
Thee young warrior shifted his weight from foot to foot. "I need advice. You see, there is this she-cat I like, but I am not sure how to talk to her. And I'd rather not take this up with Clearsand because she'll get so...weird." He mewed. "You were my mentor so I kind of want your input, you know me just as well as her, so..." He trailed off.
Greenlight chuckled. "You don't need to explain yourself to me Beechnose. Now, who is the lucky she-cat?" She asked.
Beechnose looked down. "Flowerclaw." He said quickly.
Greenlight smiled. 'Good' She thought 'Flowerclaw needs a confidence booster.' She looked at Beechnose again. "Okay, do you talk often?" She asked quickly.
Beechnose shook his head, "But I talk to her littermate Mudsecret." He mewed hopefully.
Greenlight nodded. "Okay, but I would advise talking to Flowerclaw herself. Maybe ask her to join you on a patrol or something. Maybe try to get involved with her life, not too much. But enough that she sees you as someone she can trust and confide in. Then once you have an established friendship, then you can continue to be there for her and be her shoulder to cry on. Y'know, when she realizes that you are the one that was always there for her, she will turn to you, and your friendship will become more. Or you could always risk everything and tell her everything on the spot and risk her openly rejecting you because she is not confident in herself and is positive a tom like you is only asking her for laughs." She mewed, her eyes distant and far away. "Now, I need to go visit my niece before Spiderpelt finds something for me to do." She mewed, getting to her feet and padding to the nursery.
"Oi' Greenlight! You are on this patrol!" Yowled a voice, Greenlight turned her head to see Barkstream and his apprentice Flashpaw, waiting at the camp's entrance.
Greenlight angrily shuffled her paws and pawed towards the nursery, "I was just going to- GAH!" She growled with a huff. She whirled around and stalked towards Barkstream and Flashpaw, "Let's get this over with." She grumbled, her green eyes narrowed.
