Playing with fire

With this matter settled, he seemed to relax a little. Ignoring my presence he walked past me into the next room to probably check his potion. Now that it was over, the realisation set in what could have happened. Slumping against one of the tables I shook my head. Oh what the hell, what had my life come to... But I would lie if I wouldn't admit that this intrigued me. That was the most exiting thing I had ever done. Now I finally understood why people searched for action, for fights and danger. The rush was intoxicating. Straightening up again I sauntered over to the open door. My eyes locked at the still foreign form. Now that I no longer was in direct danger of dying, I had to admit that Barty was sorta handsome. I had seen a few pictures from the yearbooks, but the newspapers had defiled his true look later on.

Shrugging these thoughts off I let myself sink into the doorframe. The twitching of is brow gave away that he knew of my presence and wasn't happy that I was still present. Maybe I shouldn't test my luck, but I felt adventurous. So I started counting in my head. Et voila! It didn't take long for him to whip around and scream at me angrily. "Why are you still here?! Don't make me regret my choice! I can still kill you!"

Nodding to every said sentence, I put my hands up in surrender. My fear seemed to have decided to dip out, so it was more a mockery, which my smirk betrayed. That seemed to make him only more angry, but before he could even think of using one of the forbitten curses on me I stepped up to the cauldron. Now I was standing right across from him.

"Sorry. I can see that you don't want my company anymore, but I still have a few questions and a proposal."

His posture didn't relax this time, the anger still simmering under the surface. Huh, it seemed that I was really right about the fact that he was hot headed, but it surprised me every time how much control he had. Gritting his teeth he growled for me to continue. That threw me a bit as I never thought I would come this far, so I stuttered. "Well...eh...you see I wanted to know if we will still have the extra classes? I actually enjoyed our discussion time and your teachings..." I felt hot and I prayed that I wasn't sporting a giant blush. This was so embarrassing to admit, therefore I quickly went on. "AND I wanted to propose that I help you with research and delivering messages/steer Harry in the right directions in his tasks."

Distrustful Barty fiddled with his wand. "You would help me? What makes you think I would trust you with my plans?" His voice was dangerously quiet.

Indifferently, I shrugged my shoulders. "Its just a proposal. I know that Hogwarts isn't a normal school by any means and a teacher spending a lot of time with one of the students is very common, but I just thought that it would be easier to get around the rules of the tournament. I believe the rules state that teachers can't help the candidates. Soo..."

Grumbling he began to stir his potion. "Our lessons will continue next week. I don't have any use for you at the moment. I will let you know if I have a task for you."

Accepting the answer I turned around, waving goodbye. "Okie dokie, see you later."

I lifted the locking spell and walked out of the classroom. Back in the sleeping quarters, the quiet settling over me, my mind decided to replay everything that happend merely minutes ago. Groaning I sank down on my bed. That was crazy! What had my life come to?! I offered a convicted criminal help! He was a death eater for fucks sake! I really should have bolted the moment I had the chance and contacted Dumbeldore, the Ministry...ANYONE! But nooo! I wanted to do... Yeah what was I trying to do? Give him a chance? Want to see where this went? No that was ridiculous... It just hadn't felt right to tell on him. Maybe it just was the time flow that had to be followed? Barty would not be unmasked until the end of the tournament, so I probably only wanted to protect the timeline unconsciously... Right?

Urgh, why was this just so complicated! That's why I never wanted to be involved in any of this! Yet a small voice in my head whispered that I craved the excitement. Rubbing my face I sighed. Okay, lets summarize everything. I would be a part of the Order of the Phoenix soon, getting to know part of the members in only a few weeks. However, I manoeuvred myself to an accomplice of a death eater who infiltrated the school and plans to revive Voldemort. Urgh... It didn't feel right to betray that bit of trust he gave me and technically he didn't do anything horrible yet since he was here. Maybe I could change the curse of action just a bit?
